"Luna! Lunita! You ca for us!" Nika cried as she clung to Luna. Although her werewolf form was by no ans cute Nika didn’t mind it since she was way stronger when transford into that wolfish creature.

The remaining mbers of the army unit were beyond puzzled by the intimidating creature that just showed up, but since it seed to be on their side they cared little about its appearance and more about its power. However, the surprises were far from over yet, as a couple of red dots appeared on the distance, their faint glimr piercing through the uncanny mist.

Now that Mayhem had very little flux energy left, she readied her weapon and pointed it towards the new threat, but Cassandra quickly stopped her since she knew exactly who it was.

"Why do soldiers always point their guns at ?" dusa pouted.

"Can you really bla her, even I thought it was a cryptid." Nika chuckled.

"You too, Nika!" dusa pouted so more, but then she noticed the poor state everyone was in. They all looked exhausted and both Nika and Cassandra were injured. "Luna, I think you’ll be more helpful if you deactivate your trait." In response, Luna tilted her head since her werewolf transformation wasn’t the product of a trait but rather her bloodline.

"She’s asking you to go back to your midget form." Cassandra, who knew her sister wouldn’t get dusa’s subtle attempt to cover the fact that she was a hybrid.

"Uhm... ok." Luna replied after turning back into a human.

"No! Why did you do that!? We need more fighting power." Stella cried the loss of the powerful creature.

"That’s why I’m here." dusa’s crimson eyes grew brighter to the point where all the swamp creatures were petrified on the spot and then rushed to defeat easily one by one. This ti, though, they didn’t co back and turned into dust.

"How did you do that?" Asked Nika.

"We still don’t know what those things are, but it seems they’re just like real people and they’re terribly weak to my trait."

"I noticed that, I want to know how did you use your trait on so many of them at the sa ti." Nika’s mouth remained agape at the incredible scene she just witnessed.

"They’re revenants. Whatever this mist is, it seems to draw the souls of those who died and its able to rebuild their bodies with living things it draws from the swamp.

Her trait forces the souls to face their inner most fears and I think that’s powerful enough to snap them out of the cryptid’s control." Luna explained as she applied so bandages to her sister without so much as a stutter in spite of being completely naked. In fact, she even sounded excited about the revenants.

"Did you get to speak to him?" Cassandra asked awkwardly.

"Uhm.... yes."

"So you know what happened back ho..."

"Even if it really was father, it’s clear it was under the cryptid’s control. Uh, uhm... we can’t assu he or it was telling the truth."

"I see." Cassandra heaved a sigh of relief. With her sister nearby, no phenonon would remain without explanation for long. Not just that, she was confident Luna would eventually figure a way to turn the tables against the revenants.

In the anti, dusa kept the revenants at bay using her martial skills to the fullest. Whoever or whatever got in close range got torn to pieces at a faster rate than it could regenerate and from ti to ti vermillion flashes would erupt from her eyes petrifying the revenants, giving the army unit a much needed respite.

"She’s so aweso!" Stella let out in a gasp, while all Mayhem could do was nod in reply. They didn’t miss the fact that dusa was an ascended just like them, but they couldn’t possibly see themselves performing like that in combat.

dusa was truly a master of martial arts. Be it blocking, kicking, punching or performing complex movents only a hunter could, dusa made it all look easy and effortless. Nika herself was surprised by her display because even if her own physical prowess was way higher than that of dusa, she struggled to fight against two revenants at a ti.

That wasn’t dusa’s case, she was able to jump into battle without the need to retreat when surrounded, in fact, it seed as though she put herself right in the center of the most enemies to unleash a flurry of elegant movents that made it seem she had eyes on the back of her head.

"What now? How do we kill them?" Cassandra, also known as Colonel Sword, was one of the most intimidating army officers anyone present had ever seen, but she spoke to Luna in a casual tone very rare to her.

"Uhm... they’re already dead." Luna confird the obvious.

"You know what I’m talking about!" Cassandra wrinkled her face in frustration.

"Are you dumb? Uhm, nevermind, I already know you are. We can’t win."

"What!?" To say Cassandra was shocked by that would be an unerstatent. She, more than anyone, knew that Luna wouldn’t say sothing like that if she wasn’t absolutely certain her statent was true. In short, Luna’s words were the sa as a death sentence on all of them.

"The whole swamp seems to be made of those things, we need to get back to the Pegasus." dusa jumped back into the group after clearing the revenants on their vicinity.

"Is that possible!? Would that be of any help against so many enemies? I know zeppelins are great for travel, but they’re not that sturdy as to withstand sothing like this. Wait, don’t tell you fixed it already! We’re saved!" Stella butted in.

"No, fixing the engine without the spare parts is impossible and I can’t make them myself, but those things can only move inside the mist and it can’t get inside the Pegasus."

"Great, now you’re saying we need to fight our way to the ship! How are we supposed to even know our way in the mist?"

"Leave that to her." Nika puffed out her chest as she patted on Luna’s bare back expecting her to turn into a werewolf, though that didn’t co to happen.

"Uhm, tired..." Luna muttered, the soft touch of Nika on her back made her drowsy and her eyes closed.

"No, Luna, wake up!" Cassandra voiced out.

"What did you expect? She’s been studying this phenonon for days without sleep. But don’t worry, I know the way." After speaking those words, dusa took the leading position and made her way amidst revenants before they could even activate their traits.

The first ti she faced a revenant was incredibly difficult for dusa, it wasn’t as emotional as Nika who faced her first love or as dreadful as Mayhem facing her own mother. The problem for dusa that Luna warned her that if she activated her trait, it would have an effect on the soul of those who ca back from the grave.

It was a horrible fate to face one’s fears even after dying, but after a while she realized that hesitating was the sa as forfeiting not just her own life, but also that of her friends, she began taking things seriously.

Now she didn’t care if she faced old n, young won, children even, she activated her petrifying glare on everything and anything that stood against them all the way towards the Pegasus. If there was one good thing about the mist, was that it scared all the cryptids from the surroundings and the only enemies at sight were the revenants.

Emma remained by the window the whole ti, briefly opening it from ti to ti to shoot a flare and then closing it to prevent the mist from getting inside. It was terrifying, but so was being left alone in a broken ship in the middle of a swamp filled with revenants.

A smile dawned on her face as soon as she noticed the dim lights of the gas lanterns of the group and she rushed to open the door when they neared the entrance.

"Hurry up inside!" dusa commanded, softly nudging on her companions to rush them into the zeppelin.

"What about you? Aren’t you tired of using so much flux energy?" Asked Nika, not wanting to leave dusa all by herself covering their retreat, but dusa gave her a push to keep walking. Once inside the Pegasus, the group watched in disbelief as dusa remained on the ground, fending off a horde of revenants all by herself.

Instead of tired or in pain, all dusa could feel was the thrill of the battle and the adrenaline rush. The more flux energy she spent, the less tired she felt and she felt a bottomless power surging from within her.

She felt excited and even a little aroused by the battle, she felt as though the violence of her attacks was directly proportional to the power she gained and she unleashed the most powerful moves on her arsenal even if they weren’t the most efficient.

Corpses made of vegetation and insects flew all over the place until dusa’s bloodthirst was sated and a soft glimr coated her entire body. It was faint, but noticeable even in the middle of the mist.

"I think... I ranked up." Said an evidently changed dusa whose beauty and imposing presence now rivaled with Nika’s.
