The Vlog turned out as cringy as it was to be expected, which didn't an his past entries were any better, but at least it served the purpose of spreading the word about the wendigos. With that done, the Dungeon Raiders company was at a crossroads.
They could potentially start cleansing the city as the head of the Cryptid hunting agency wanted or they could join the rangers to keep the citizens safe. Both alternatives would allow them to sowhat recover from their financial troubles, but that ca at the cost of their freedom and Uriel was against it.
dusa, being the kind hearted woman everyone knew her to be, didn't care what their next step was as long as it ant protecting the citizens. Luna, on the other hand, was more interested in hunting new cryptids and studying them. This, again, made Uriel feel like he had no alternative but to choose the path that had been set for him.
Even if all he wanted was to raid a dungeon and get his hands on new artifacts to beco stronger in order to get Sam back from Water warlock's hands, he had to admit it was sothing he couldn't do by himself.
"At least now we can go outside the city without fake ID." Uriel sighed.
"And how exactly do you pretend to do that, when everyone in this city wants a piece of you." dusa chuckled.
"Does that include you?" Uriel replied making her blush on the spot. Sothing he learned during his short relationship with dusa was that the best way to distract her whenever she was being difficult was to openly flirt with her.
"She had her chance, now you're mine." Luna said as she buried her face on Uriel's side.
"You can't simply decide to make soone yours!" dusa complained.
"Why not?"
"That's just not how things work." dusa insisted.
"Maybe I should mark him." Luna fell into a pensive state and then proceeded to bit Uriel's shoulder taking advantage of his sitting position.
"Ouch!" He yelped.
"I have a question..." Emma muttered.
"It's called Odaxelagnia, when soone gets aroused by biting people." Luna explained before hearing her quesion.
"Ew!" dusa made a disgusted face, though it was clear she was more upset than grossed out by her behavior.
"It's got nothing to do with that. I just wonder how do you guys know for sure that wendigos are invisible. You saw the guy, he looked really creepy. Maybe we just need to kill them."
"No, that's impossible. Luna, can you please explain her." Uriel asked Luna in hopes of her letting go of him.
"Mhhf pmf," She mumbled, but then gave up on biting Uriel and proceeded to explain. "Cryptids have different natures. We have found regular enemies, who can be killed by physical ans with no issue, this kind is the most common of them all.
Then, there are so parasitic cryptids like the eclipse who can possess human skin and don't have a physical form, they're fairly common and quite difficult to face, but from what Uriel claims they're easy to defeat, all you have to do is kill the host."
"Kill... the host. Is that what you did back then?" Emma asked Uriel about the eclipse he killed when he t Emma on the lost city, to which he replied with a nod. "Does that an that... she was a human?"
"We don't know for sure, but did she look or act like a human? Also, would it make a difference? She killed your party."
"I guess not." Emma's gaze fell to the ground.
"There's also a different kind of cryptid, we t them when we were on easter island. They were called Aku aku and were supposedly born from the people who died of starvation. They were impossible to defeat, even for Nika who was a heavenly rank at the ti."
"Are they that strong?" Emma questioned again, but this ti was Uriel's turn to answer.
"Not particularly, but they were completely immune to physical damage. Perhaps if we had soone with the ability to control the elents we might kill them. The problem is that those things were only of the beast rank level, and yet, they were invicincible."
"And how did you survive?"
"It doesn't matter, all what matters is that those spirits were forcing people to beco cannibals by 'convincing them'. If it sounds familiar to wendigos that's because I suspect they're the sa cryptid, only at a different level." Uriel replied after lingering for a few seconds.
"I see... so whatever their rank is, they must be stronger than beast rank. Which ans they'll be more difficult to kill than those things you ntioned." Emma nodded.
"That's correct, but that's not even the worst part. The worst part is that we never figured out how to kill them in spite of being able to see them. I don't even want to think what would happen if one of us got possessed by an invisible spirit like that.
This is a huge setback for us, all I wante to do was to raid a couple dungeons to prepare, but now we got invincible cryptids to be wary of..." Uriel let out yet another sigh.
"Don't be a spoilsport! At least we're all together... well with the exception of..." Nika too beca moody at the thought of Sam. All of them felt as though even the happiest mont, would an next to nothing without Sam by their side. He was always cheerful and supportive of them and even if he was sowhat perverted they all loved him.
"Then why don't you go to Europe? If what you said about dungeons is true, there must be a lot of dungeons there!" Emma proposed.
"We can't forsake this city!" dusa imdiately rebuffed Emma's Idea, but Uriel thought differently.
"It's not the sa as running away. I don't know how long it would take for Sam to reach his goal, but I know that if we rush things, we'll fail. Maybe Emma's idea isn't so bad."
