Following the main road allowed Uriel to not get lost in the darkness, but the road was filled with temptations for an archaeologist like him. There were so many interesting sights, historic places and even the regular buildings held a certain cultural value for soone raised in a gacity like himself.
It got to the point where curiosity got the best of him and he couldn't help but break up into a house with the excuse of looking for supplies. Inwardly, though, he knew all he wanted was see how did the people of Rapa Nui lived.
At first, everything seed normal, but upon closer inspection he realized sothing was wrong. It wasn't what he saw, but what he was able to sll what hinted him. There were no packaged als, synthetic food and all the waste in the trash was organic which made the whole place reek like a composter.
"If the arrival never happened here, not finding synthetic food in the pantry wouldn't be so strange. But it is weird that there's not even plastic envelopes. This ans that this island was cut off from the continent and stopped receiving supplies years ago.
So it is confird, these people were able to live here after the arrival," Uriel finally arrived at a conclusion, though the mystery was far from being solved. "but then, where are they? Why isn't the town destroyed?"
Many questions and theory started forming inside Uriel's mind and he decided to unravel them as he walked towards his destination.
The place he was looking for wasn't that eye catching and so scholars deed it as nothing but soone carving a face into small hole in the rock that ford naturally. The place was called Heva, and it wasn't so big to be an entrance to a dungeon, but Uriel was almost certain he would find sothing there.
Just like in the Cenote, where water played an important role in pointing him in the right direction, Heva Face was always naturally filled with rainwater and Uriel guessed he would be able to find sothing there.
Upon arriving at the seemingly unremarkable face sculpted in the stone Uriel was able to confirm his suspicions. The place itself was deceivingly normal, but Uriel could feel a faint trace of flux energy coming off from the water inside the mouth carved on the stone.
He placed the flashlight on his mouth and subrged his hands in the water, poking and probing around in the hole trying to find any clues. He focused on the coarse feeling on the tips of his fingers and noticed how there were carvings under the water, but seeing them was impossible due to the light being refracted by the water.
He then used both hands to try and empty the mouth, but no matter how much he tried, the water level wasn't diminishing. At first, he thought it was just his impression and he wished he had so sort of container to help him take out all the water from the stony mouth, but after a what seed like an hour of fighting against the endless source of water he gave up.
"Hmm... this is odd," It was frustrating, infuriating, but at the sa ti, it was also the first true clue he found. The face was vaguely carved and Uriel knew that if he had a few flux orbs with him he would probably be able to repair it by crushing them. Regretfully, he didn't think of going back to the zeppelin once he found the flashlights. "hindsight is always right." He sighed.
After the long walk and all the excitent, he was thirsty and his first instinct was to buy an energy drink from his souvenir shop. They were tasty and refreshing and Uriel had beca a bit obsessed with them in spite of each one costing him a trite.
However, he had a fresh source of water right in front of him and he figured no harm could co to him, though he wasn't expecting what followed after he started drinking from the mouth.
[System notice] Water warlock's blessing has grown stronger.
Uriel greeted the system ssage with a smile but, just as usual, when things seed to be going his way they took an unexpected turn.
An icy wind ca seemingly out of nowhere and his flashlight started flickering until it was turned off. Uriel tried to take a step back and grab his torch, but he started feeling dizzy as though the whole world was spinning faster and he found himself in complete darkness. "Who dares drink the waters of Vai A Heva Face?" An ominous voice that sounded like many voices mixed together spoke from everywhere.
"Who's asking?" Uriel replied, unfazed by the possible threats. Now that his blessing evolved he felt even more confident he could survive pretty much anything.
"Murderer, murderer, murderer..." The voice kept repeating on a whisper, even after the sa voice continued speaking. "It is us, those who were killed by Raki and Mata Nui."
"Could you please stop the background whispers? It's starting to beco really annoying." Uriel replied as he cleaned his ear in a gesture of utter disrespect.
"You dare..."
"I do." Uriel glared, his eyes already glistening with flux energy, though before he was even able to activate Dash all the murmurs stopped.
"Only adults can challenge Te Pito Te Nua."
"If I rember correctly that ant sothing like the bellybutton of the world? Wait a second..." It was then that Uriel realized sothing beyond strange, sothing that left him in a daze. He was speaking to a stone face in the ancestral language of the glyphs, though what really bothered him was being called a child. "I am an adult!"
"Where is your tahonga then? It doesn't matter if you're old, our traditions are set on stone. Co back when you beco an adult and we will teach you the secrets of our hoko, the battle dance and the tales of our ancestors."
