The first floor of the Dungeon Raiders company was completely crowded with employees that were just starting to get their assignnts and everyone looked happy with their eyes set on the future. Among those rry folks, Janett was the giddiest since she was finally acting as a receptionist again.
The previously empty place was now brimming with life and all it took was for Uriel to storm off after being pestered by his friends one ti too many.
It made them realize how heavy a burden it was for the young archaeology student who not even six months ago was struggling to decide on whether to fill his belly or buy a new book, but things changed as soon as he ca back from his last incursion.
"Hey, look at that dude! What do you think he did to deserve such treatnt?"
"I don't know man, but I feel bad for the little guy. He went with us to the dungeon, but I think they kicked him out of the mining team because he was too weak." Said one of the Armstrong n who was taking a break after a couple hours of shaping orichalcum into a plate.
"You feel bad for him!? If the boss dragged around all tied up like him I'd be in heaven!" Laughed another after pointing up to the pitiful figure of Uriel.
"Nah, he's all bruised up, I don't think we'll ever see him again."
Such conversation took place in the short span where Uriel was being dragged upstairs by Luna, dusa and Nika, though what they thought were bruises were kiss marks left on him by Charlie. It was her parting gift given to him in thanks for not only saving her life but providing her with the much needed comfort.
Uriel was brought to the living room where Nika kicked him behind the knees causing him to fall on the floor, the rope used to tie him was hunter grade and he couldn't even use his arms to soften the fall.
"Is this really necessary?" He asked.
"Look at him, he's not even sorry!" Nika gasped.
"Repent!" Luna hit him with a broom.
"Please, just listen to . It's important!"
"I just want to know why. Am I not good enough? No, even if it was like that, why would you go an give yourself like that to an outsider!" dusa said teary eyed.
"It's not like that! She's my professor."
"That's even worse!" dusa looked at him with eyes filled with disappointnt, though she couldn't help but smile when she noticed how he looked directly at her.
"Uhm... If it was o get good grades I understand." Luna nodded approvingly and left the room after losing interest leaving both dusa and Nika confounded.
"Look, I'm not saying you should pick , but I can't bear the thought of losing to that slut! Whatever she did to you, you have to let us do it twice!" Nika demanded.
"Yes! No, wait, what!?" dusa blurted out but then fell into one of her blushing dazes while probably running weird scenarios on her head.
Things weren't looking great for Uriel who was still tied up in front of two won who weren't listening to a word he said, but that only lasted when he ntioned the horror cryptid. He explained about his findings on the abandoned outpost and how close he ca to a fight with a horror level skinwalker and dusa imdiately snapped out of her weird thoughts.
To her, skinwalkers were already among the nastiest cryptids she had ever faced and she didn't even want to think what would a horror level one be capable of, but Luna's case was completely the opposite.
As soon as Uriel ntioned the horror cryptids she appeared seemingly out of nowhere and started drowning him in all sorts of questions which Uriel tried to answer in as much detail as he could. When Uriel's recount of his incursion finished, the girls weren't so keen on punishing him for his alleged misdeeds with Charlie anymore but it was now his turn to ask them questions.
"What is the deal with Raider? I heard a few things about him on my way here and I'd like to et him as soon as possible." Uriel asked, though instead of an answer he was t with an awkward silence.
"What did you hear about him?"
"I heard that he's a cool guy who doesn't fear fighting cryptids to save others, that his aim is legendary and can kill a cryptid from a kiloter without trouble. I also heard he has a great eye for business and loves history and that he's the strongest hunter in the Dungeon Raiders company. Charlie said sothing like he's secretly the CEO of the company, which didn't make sense but...
why are you staring at like that?"
"It's you, silly!"
"What?" Uriel blinked a couple tis before processing that bit of information.
"We realized how unfair we were towards you and thought of possible solutions. First, we started taking proper care of the business and then we made Raider up because people kept asking about who the CEO was." Nika explained.
"But... why did you paint him, I an , in such a colorful manner? You do realize than when people find out it's just they'll be disappointed."
"Disappointed? Didn't you just tell us how you made a horror level cryptid run for her money and then made out with a hot girl?" Luna stared at Uriel.
"I didn't say anything about making out with anyone!" Uriel defended himself after feeling dusa's murderous eyes set upon him. "Anyway, I appreciate this. I really don't want people to follow everywhere and poke questions at . By the way, where is Sam?"
"He is... he just needs so ti alone. Losing his 'wife' has been really hard on him." Said Nika with air quotes when she ntioned Sam's wife, sothing that Luna didn't seem to appreciate, yet she remained silent.
