"This is so embarrassing." The muffled sound of a feminine voice ca from behind a soldering mask.

"Do you want to go to college or not?" Uriel glared at a tall woman with very short hair that did little to hide her enticing figure.

"I- I do, but are you sure this isn't weird?"

"It is weird, but we'll figure it out later, this should do until you make yourself sothing else that can cover your trait."

Any other person could have used a face mask or even a hoodie, hiding her glimring eyes was a challenge. The first step of Uriel's plan to sneak dusa into college while hiding her identity was to ask her to wear a soldering mask. Sothing like that was actually pretty weird, but people were aware of hunters' weird traits and he counted on that.

But as much as she wanted to attend class, she felt as though everyone watched her and it made her self conscious, but all that ca to an end when she felt a cold hand griping hers.

"Uriel!?" dusa blushed under the iron mask.

"Don't be scared, I bet most of them didn't even notice your mask."

That lead to the second part of Uriel's plan, which was to ask her to wear a low cut tank top that drew all the gazes towards her cleavage. n would turn to see her and won would glare daggers at her, but it did work as no one really paid any mind to her weird garnt. "Excuse us," Uriel said as he pushed the door to Fermi's workshop open. "We would like to have a word with you, Professor."

"Oh, yes, yes, give a couple minutes would you," The professor said from under a weird device. "Marvelous! You're already wearing a soldering mask, be a dear and lend a hand Miss dusa."

"How did you know it was her!?" Uriel's jaw hit the floor.

"It's obvious, isn't it? Biotrics." Fermi replied.

"What are those?" Uriel had no clue about what the professor was talking about, but dusa was familiar with the concept so she proceeded to explain him, but not before taking her mask since there was no point in hiding her identity anymore.

"Biotrics is a mix of body asures and calculations that allow a machine to tell the identity of a person. There's a lot of possible ways to identify soone, like comparing fingerprints, the irises, even ears!"

"Then why did we even bother trying to hide your identity? We're screwed! They'll always know where we are." Uriel's face paled and he looked flustered. After all his experiences, not many things were able to scare Uriel, but the thought of being identified even behind a mask gave him the creeps.

"Ho, ho! Kids these days are so amusing!" Fermi heartily laughed, his prominent belly bobbed up and down as he slid from beneath the machine he was working on with sothing like an electrical skate. "It's science, not magic. There's a few reasons why biotrics aren't used to identify people anymore.

First, in order to identify soone you need to store a sizeable amount of data about that person and share it in real ti, but this needs sothing not even the Mapple corporation has... internet."

"I don't get it, we all use internet on a daily basis."

"No, what we have right now is closer to an intranet. Each city has their servers and they connect to other cities by wire but we can't access any data from other countries, let alone other continents. International corporations are the exception, but that requires special access and it's not as simple as it used to be."

"Is this related to the arrival?" Uriel asked.

"It is, since the cryptids appeared most satellites beca useless and wireless signal between cities is limited. Because of that, we now use radio waves to communicate with other cities. That brings to the second reason why biotrics aren't a thing anymore, traits. They modify their bodies to a point where identifying them by a single body feature becos impossible."

"I've heard the Mapple corporation does have biotrics in their headquarters."

"Yes, because they keep a database and use an adaptative algorithm that allows them to whitelist their employees. Everyday they show up, they feed information about themselves to the algorithm which makes identifying them easier. That's exactly what I have set up in here, I can't let just anyone walk in and out from here without care, there's a lot of valuable weapons and gadgets here."

Just like last ti, all Uriel could see around him was piles of scrap and Fermi noticed it.

"Do you rember the gadget you brought last ti?" Fermi asked, then pointed towards his electrical skate. "I turned it into this platform, now I can easily slide beneath my projects, it makes working so much easier. Now look at this, it's a powerful grenade launcher. Oh! and this! this is a railgun."

"It looks like a potato launcher to ." Uriel comnted and dusa giggled.

"Ahem, sorry, I got a bit carried away. So, what brought you two here?" Professor Fermi faked a cough.

dusa and Uriel looked at each other awkwardly. They didn't know exactly how to present their case or if they could even trust Fermi, but dusa really wanted to continue her studies and it was a risk they were willing to take.

"I'd like to attend to your lectures." dusa finally said.

"I think we had that talk already." The professor replied with a scowl.

"Yes, but my circumstances have changed. I need to keep my identity a secret because of reasons I can't explain."

"I see, so that's why you were wearing that soldering mask. It's not elegant, but it does cover your trait." Fermi nodded.

"It's a temporal solution." Uriel shrugged.

"I don't have any issues with having you attend to class with that mask, in fact, I myself wear a soldering mask when I go out from ti to ti. But that's because I tend to forget I'm wearing it." Fermi chuckled.
