It is a strange mont of the day, when the last of daylight fades in the horizon and, for a second, the world becos dark only to brighten up when the stars appear shyly on the sky.

It is a miraculous ti of the day when the world seemingly blinks into outer space, when the beauty of the light gives way to the sacredness of the night, a wonderful ti of the day that didn't co to happen on that particular day, for the sky had been taken hostage by the thunderous clouds that rained cold drops of water onto the face of the young hunters trying to get back ho.

Their gas lanterns shifted and dimd with the wind as they traversed the unruly forest of Hunter's lane. Their clothes, soaked wet, stuck to their skin making each uncomfortable step heavier than the previous one.

Encumbered by their backpacks and gear, scared of the unseen terrors of the night and troubled with the betrayal of one of their friends, the hunters were lost in body and spirit alike.

"We need to stop and rest, I can't keep walking in this rain." Connor complained for the umpteenth ti.

"Don't forget this is an interdiate hunting zone. If we stay the night we're as good as dead." Amy replied with severity. As the leader, the responsibility of taking everyone back ho safe fell upon her shoulders and she wasn't willing to take any risks, not anymore.

Uriel wasn't paying any attention to Amy's party, instead he was trying to focus on his previous experience in the chamber of echoes. He accomplished everything he wanted to, moreover, he also found one of the relics needed to enter the Alamo dungeon.

Any sane person would celebrate the win as a lucky strike, but Uriel wasn't one to put the bla on luck for the good or the bad things that happened to him. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire

'I passed the trial, but why? is it because I defeated Atomic? Can it be that easy?' Uriel wondered. 'Also, who promised him that he would be able to co back if he killed ? Is sothing like that even possible?'

This questions bothered him, but not nearly as much as the aning of the trial. The structure was called the chamber of echoes and, apparently, it was able to produce any sort of voice and say all kinds of things to confuse people, but the worst part was the loud sound that almost pushed Uriel to the verge of insanity.

'What if Rocky took the trial... and failed?' Suddenly, Atomic's last warning ca back to Uriel's mind and he repeated them to himself. "Don't let it escape..."

At that mont, a familiar object was bathed in the light that ca out of the evolved girl's eyes was revealed.

"Bloobloo!" Connor exclaid teary eyed at the sight of his beloved pickup truck and he ran towards it as though he was reuniting with an old friend.

"It's a trap!" Uriel tried to warn him, but all Connor could think of at the ti was to get inside the vehicle and head back ho as soon as possible.

Right before Connor made it to the vehicle, a slim figure jumped on top of him from behind dragging him a couple ters through the mud.

"Why did you do that!?" Connor said as he shook Amy off from his back but before she could reply the sound of a large object cutting the rain at high speed warned them of the rock that ensued. Not one second after, the truck had been crushed beneath the weight of a boulder.

"No way!" The evolved hunters covered their mouths in disbelief but there wasn't any ti for shock, it was a life or death situation.

"Take cover!" Even though Uriel wasn't the leader, no one hesitated to follow his command. "Turn the lights off." He continued.

Little did Uriel know that the attacker was able to see in the dark with reflective yellow eyes that reminisced those of a beast.

"Well done," A slow clap erged from the surrounding darkness. "And to think you're only an ascended."

"Rocky you bastard, I'm going to kill you!" Connor cried as he stood up against his better judgent.

"Woah! Chill dude, we're friends aren't we?" Although Rocky ant to taunt Connor, the one most affected by his words turned out to be Uriel.

Sothing in his tone of voice, in his attitude towards those who he deed to be bellow his position and, more importantly, the blatant misuse of the word 'friends' irked Uriel to no end. It reminded him of Mark.

Uriel lit up a flare and slowly stood up, his eyes closed as he focused on his mystical sense to try and locate Rocky's position.

"This doesn't concern you new guy, stand back and wait for orders." Connor yelled at Uriel to vent part of his anger.

"Wait for orders? I think you're mistaken..." Uriel replied as he took a few steps forward, then he turned back towards Connor. "I'm not a mber of your party, rember?"

With that said Uriel darted towards a seemingly random direction and his flare disappeared into the forest leaving everyone stunned in place.

"He abandoned us..." Amy muttered under her breath.

"I warned you! I said it all the ti, that he was a piece of shit that abandons his companions. He ran away, that bastard!" But Connor's statent couldn't be any further from the truth.

While technically Uriel left the group behind, he wasn't running away from anything. He was out hunting.

Rocky soon realized that, sohow, the new guy was able to sense his presence and started running away. Even if Uriel was only an ascended, he didn't know what to expect from him and he kept running until he deed it safe to confront him one on one.

"I can't believe you fell for it." Rocky laughed. "I'm a heavenly rank now, but no way I'm going to fight a bunch of ascended that know how to fight against . You, on the other hand..." He finished his speech with a sharp rock that ca out directly from his hand.

Blind in the dark, deaf with the rain that muffled every sound and carrying a lit flare that turned him into an easy target, Rocky thought killing Uriel would be faster than destroying the old pickup truck. Contrary to his expectations, Uriel dodged the projectile with ease without even reducing his speed.

"Stop right there!" Rocky shouted, pretending to be scared. "Don't co any closer!"

But Uriel wasn't listening as he was, in fact, affected by the all present sound of the rain and couldn't hear him from that distance. The only reason why he was able to dodge was because of his mystical sense that allowed him to sense a fluctuation in the flux energy. Then, without stopping his race, Uriel landed a heavy punch that echoed like a clap directly on Rocky's face.

"Got ya!" Uriel breathed heavily, his eyes still closed.
