"Hahaha! Attack!" Dem Zarn laughed, pointing his spear forward.
There were hundreds of demons from the Ancestral Devil race around him. They all drew their weapons, and Empyrean runes lit up on their foreheads. But that wasn’t all. At the sa mont, each of the demons waved, causing a dozen pulsating Yin runes with sinister power to appear.
These were the elite young mbers of the Ancestral Devil clan that Dem Zarn brought with him. They were all in the sa realm as him and would be considered celestial geniuses in any sect below the Shadow God sect.
"They’re just diocre bastards! Whoever kills one, I’ll personally reward you greatly!" Dem Zarn spoke loudly, and all the demons roared excitedly, attacking frantically.
The two sides quickly approached each other, while the whale and Dem Zarn just watched. Mistie and the advisors saw that clearly unequal and pointless confrontation. Was he sending them to their deaths? They all thought in unison.
"Denil..." Mistie tried to say sothing, but when she saw the whale watching ahead, she felt a fluctuation of ridicule and amusent, making her swallow her words. Those weren’t the eyes of a young fool; he seed like an ancient being who had lived longer than she could imagine, but at the sa ti, he was just playing with an idiot.
Before arriving, the whale took ti because he had to place the five new mbers of the group into the array, anticipating the confrontation. Now, through the array, Alm and Bruno commanded everyone seriously.
At that mont, the two sides were five ters apart; then the whale spoke. ’Ruri, now.’
Ruri’s eyes shone, and spatial runes appeared, distorting reality. Suddenly, all the demons felt the space around them close in, as if invisible walls sprang from the void on all sides, trapping them.
All the demons began to move closer together, as if a powerful force was drawing them to each other. Then, a thunderous roar sounded. "How pathetic. Break this with force!"
Dem Zarn spoke with disdain, but the next mont, he squinted, sensing a strange fluctuation.
Brrring...
A prolonged sound of vibrating strings echoed across the battlefield, followed by a disturbance in the celestial laws. Dem Zarn looked ahead and saw a human playing a zither, while multicolored runes danced magically around her.
The glow of the runes illuminated the void of space, weaving intricate and beautiful patterns that seed to defy reality itself. That sound seed to be the will of the celestial laws, and he felt all the Qi and the laws of the world pull away from him, leaving him terrified.
His eyes widened. "What the hell... is that a manifestation?!"
Dee-dee-dee...
Suddenly, a soft and enchanting voice sounded, and Dem Zarn turned to a harpy in shock. That beautiful and exotic figure had eyes like two violet beacons, and the world distorted around her. Rivine moved her wings gently and sang a lody that seed to touch directly the essence of everyone’s minds around her.
The two sounds synchronized in an instant. Suddenly, all the trapped demons froze, and in their eyes, sinister violet lines appeared. The combination of Nixis’s zither and Rivine’s voice was a hypnotizing spectacle of beauty, as if the heavens were trying to dominate them.
"ntal power?!" Dem Zarn was startled and roared. "Use the Yin and the bloodlines!"
The demons felt their souls and minds spinning, all their blood, Qi, and organs seeming to contort inside their bodies. What kind of evil art was that? Dem Zarn didn’t just speak; he used his bloodline connected to them to transmit the ssage. They all heard the order directly in their minds and responded quickly with everything they had, in almost desperation.
But...
At the sa mont their bloodlines threatened to ignite, the runes on their bodies seed to petrify, and a cold sweat ran down their spines.
Dem Zarn felt his heart pounding wildly, and his entire demonic bloodline petrified in sync with the others. He turned to a point above and saw a pair of golden eyes staring coldly at him.
It was a figure with two pairs of wings with white and gray feathers, looking both celestial and demonic. His golden eyes glowed fiercely, piercing Dem Zarn’s soul with a cold and relentless gaze.
Around this figure, a mystical aura distorted with ancient power. The air around seed to vibrate with malevolent energy and an oppressive, suffocating presence that made Dem Zarn’s heart race in pure terror.
Maelik’s presence was overwhelming, as if darkness itself had taken form and was ready to judge and condemn without rcy.
"M... Mara?"
Dem Zarn murmured, completely in shock. The legends of the sinister Mara demons were told to all demons, as if they were a demonic abomination to be eliminated. They could be the greatest enemies of demons, just like dragons were to beasts. Or the greatest allies, depending on who told the story.
Ironically, a Mara was a demon, born from a variation of the Ancestral Devils themselves. They were a natural response from the celestial laws to the oppressive power of these ancestral demons. In all universes where Ancestral Devils existed, the Maras appeared to balance. And, of course, this caused a battle where only one side would win.
"Water Dragon Overflows the Heavens!"
A voice sounded from a man enveloped in water runes. On his back, his manifestation took form, and the water rose suddenly.
A massive water dragon ford. It was so large that no one could see its entire body. The aquatic dragon opened its mouth and advanced on the right side of the trapped demons.
"Raging Yang Devours the Heavens!"
A slim green figure spoke lightly, and then her eyes changed, with snake pupils appearing. Around Lansha, runes pulsed like eyes opening, and Yang flas erupted from her, filling the entire world.
The shadow of a beast in the form of a serpent ford behind her and roared. It was the manifestation of a Yangta, directly from her beastly bloodline; everyone felt terrified as if it were sothing real. Then, the second manifestation attacked the left side of the demons.
Yang flas and pure power from the water laws synchronized in the attack, and neither influenced the other. The two manifestations exploded violently among the demons, multicolored lights creating a spectacle in space, and everyone on the planet looked up in awe.
But those who were close saw only a rain of black blood, followed by a brutal death Yin. Even the blood evaporated before the flas and brutality of those powers.
It all happened in a re five seconds, from the mont the two sides were close to each other. Now, all the demons were turned into nothing, not even ashes remained of them.
The advisors and Mistie stood in funereal silence. At the sa ti, the five new mbers deactivated their maximum power; then, they clenched their fists tightly. The whale had given them the chance to fight and commanded them. It was a perfectly synchronized joint movent.
’Good job, fall back.’ The whale’s voice sounded in the minds of the five.
Then, he turned to Dem Zarn, who was still distant, unable to comprehend what had happened.
"What was it again? Killing a diocre bastard would give a reward... we killed them all, I hope the reward is really good. That spear of yours looks nice, did you bring more of them?"
The whale spoke slowly, putting his hand on his chin and looking at the spear in Dem Zarn’s hand with greed.
All the advisors swallowed hard, frightened. But they turned surprised to hear a soft laugh. Mistie was smiling from ear to ear, laughing as if a mountain-sized stone had been lifted from her chest.
"You..." Dem Zarn awoke murmuring, and his eyes dripped blood. "YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!"
He roared, and an infinite primordial power exploded, as if the apocalypse had begun.
