Chapter 13: Crippled! Guilty Huo Ling’er! Comfort!

Elder Long reacted swiftly.

His Spiritual Energy erupted and transformed into dragon scales that grew across his skin, forming a tight layer of protection.

Despite this, the alarm bells in his heart never stopped ringing. If anything, his sense of danger grew even stronger as the sword rapidly closed in.

Elder Long realized: Chen Xuan was truly not holding back!

He was planning to kill him with a single strike, ignoring the consequences of offending the Battle Peak and Peak Master Lan!

’How dare he? Isn’t he afraid of the wrath of a Nascent Soul expert?’ he couldn’t help but wonder in astonishment.

Yet in reality, his movements never paused.

The dragon scales did not give him enough confidence to deal with the incoming strike. He took action once more.

Several Magic Weapons emerged from his space ring. Talismans then shot out, followed by chunks of high-grade spirit ore.

Several walls of defense were created in front of him in just an instant.

Chen Xuan noticed his struggle, but his expression remained unaffected.

A halo of black-and-white energy coiled around his blade as he swung the sword forward with all his strength. His movements made it seem that he was planning to divide the world into two.

The two men were dozens of meters apart.

But the blade tore across this distance and arrived before his opponent almost instantaneously.

The first to confront it were the chunks of precious ores. They were materials for forging Magic Weapons and were extraordinarily difficult to break.

Yet, as soon as the blade fell on them, it instantly shattered them into pieces.

The sword’s momentum didn’t lessen in the slightest.

It continued unabated and landed on the terrifying spells transformed by the talismans he had unleashed.

These followed the same fate as the ores.

The fireballs, wind storms, and earth spikes were severed upon contact.

The sword’s blade finally landed on Elder Long the very next moment.

A sharp cracking sound echoed.

The dragon scales quickly fractured and burst apart.

Green blood oozed from inside and dripped onto the ground, corroding it.

But this was far from the thing occupying Elder Long’s mind.

As the sword perated the dragon scales, it dug into his skin beneath and pierced straight through it.

A cloud of blood erupted. His figure was sent flying through the air.

He slammed onto the ground and bounced several times, leaving deep craters with each impact.

Only after several seconds did he come to a stop.

The dust settled. Elder Long’s appearance was revealed once again.

The dragon scales protecting him had vanished.

His body was riddled with horrifying wounds. His aura fluctuated, sometimes weak and sometimes strong, on the verge of falling below the Core Formation realm.

Clearly, the superficial flesh wounds were the least of his worries. What really troubled Elder Long was the deeper, more fundamental injuries he had suffered.

As he struggled to raise his head, his pupils shrank, and his gaze remained glued to the weapon Chen Xuan was holding.

He opened his mouth with great difficulty and struggled to speak.

"A Medium-Grade Spirit Weapon! You possess a Medium-Grade Spirit Weapon!"

After this exchange, Elder Long realized that Chen Xuan was perhaps stronger than him, but the gap between them was not that big.

The reason he was defeated instantly was partly because he was caught off guard, and partly because of the Spirit Weapon in his opponent’s hands.

"How is this possible? Only Nascent Soul cultivators should possess such a treasure!"

Elder Long’s voice gradually grew smaller until it faded away.

The previous injuries and the shock of this realization took a heavy toll on him.

He could no longer hold on and fell unconscious.

"Father!"

"Elder Long!"

Two panicked voices echoed. Long Feng and Xiao Huo rushed to pick up Elder Long and tend to his wounds.

Chen Xuan watched coldly as he sheathed the Spirit Weapon.

He didn’t stop them.

"The agreement stands. Since Elder Long was able to survive my strike, I will spare your lives for now," he said, waving his hand.

Then, his gaze lingered on Xiao Huo and deepened before he took Huo Ling’er and soared into the sky. The two climbed up the Yin Yang Peak together.

The crowd around the entrance stared at his departing back with admiration and fervor. They had witnessed the previous confrontation and were astonished by Chen Xuan’s combat power.

He was able to defeat an opponent of the same stage with such a strike!

As for Elder Long’s final words, no one paid them any heed.

Weren’t magic weapons part of the cultivator’s power? If anything, Chen Xuan’s ability to obtain a Spirit Weapon was even more worthy of admiration!

Chatter erupted.

People discussed with their fellow disciples about Chen Xuan’s extraordinary power, while a few unnamed female disciples stared at his departing back with flushed faces and unsteady legs.

No one spared a single glance at the two youths and the injured Elder.

These people had offended their Peak Master and the Yin Yang Peak as a whole by causing trouble!

In the opinion of these disciples and Elders, Chen Xuan had already shown enough mercy by not killing them on the spot!

"The Peak Master is mighty! The Peak Master is the kindest!" A disciple’s shout soon covered Long Feng and Xiao Huo’s muffled cries.

--

"Do you have anything you wish to tell me?"

Back in his courtyard, Chen Xuan stood in front of Huo Ling’er and questioned her.

He had his hands clasped behind his back, watching calmly as Huo Ling’er tried her best to dodge his gaze.

He didn’t urge her to speak, but let the silence settle.

In the end, the uncomfortable atmosphere made Huo Ling’er unable to hold on.

"Master! I’m sorry. I never expected that Xiao Huo would cause such a scene."

"It’s all my own fault." Her head drooped.

"I failed to make things clear to him and gave him the confidence to cause trouble."

Huo Ling’er’s actions were not an act. She was truly feeling guilty.

She was no longer a newly-enrolled disciple who knew nothing about the Jade Pure Sect.

She had heard of Elder Long’s name before and understood that he was one of Battle Peak’s most valued Elders.

Combined with what the other party said during the confrontation, it was clear that today’s matter would never end there.

Because of her, Chen Xuan had inexplicably offended a Nascent Soul cultivator.

He had already given her so much, but instead of repaying him, she had caused him so much trouble.

The idea of severing their master-disciple relationship briefly passed through her mind.

Although doing so would lead to her expulsion from the sect and her cultivation would be forcefully crippled, Huo Ling’er was willing.

However, Chen Xuan had already spoken before she could voice that thought aloud.

He maintained his calm smile, causing Huo Ling’er to subconsciously relax.

"You don’t have to worry."

"Elder Long won’t have another chance to seek revenge. As for Peak Master Lan?" Chen Xuan shook his head.

"Hmph! Let’s see if he dares to pursue this matter."

"Don’t take Elder Long’s threats seriously. As long as I’m here, no one dares to cause any trouble on Yin Yang Peak!"

Chen Xuan’s voice grew louder towards the end of his speech.

Other cultivators would have branded him arrogant if they heard those words.

After all, how could someone at the Core Formation realm dare to disrespect a Nascent Soul cultivator?

Yet, his extraordinary demeanor and handsome appearance made him anything but that in Huo Ling’er’s eyes.

For some reason, she didn’t think that Chen Xuan was boasting.

Instead, she had supreme confidence in him and believed that his words were the truth!

In front of her Master, Peak Master Lan was nothing!
