Before the blade could cut into her flesh, a hand closed around her wrist.

The strength of the grip was such that Zhi i felt her bones crack. BaiShe stood in front of her, his jade face showing no pity, only crushing authority.

"Let go, BaiShe! Let die with my honor!" she scread, trying to struggle.

"Honor? What a pathetic word in the mouth of a saint who abandons her post at the first setback..." retorted BaiShe.

He shook her violently by the shoulders, forcing her to et his gaze.

"Look at , Zhi i! The Executor is dead, that is a fact... However, his will survives through his last order..." he began.

"He ordered you to help kill the Devourer. Do you think a cowardly suicide will honor his mory? You are a tool of the Temple, and as long as this monster breathes, your blade belongs only to honoring his mory..."

She remained silent...

Zhi i stopped struggling, her tears flowing freely down her reddened cheeks.

"But it would be foolish of you to define yourself only by your mission, there is so much that would hurt you if you—"

"There is no one, BaiShe..." She lowered her head, leaning against his chest. Since the first ti they t, it was the first ti she showed her weakness.

"If I fail my mission, I have no reason to live, that is what the Elders told and..."

"If you die, I also have no reason to live anymore..."

"What!? What are you saying?" She widened her eyes. And then she thought about how he had pushed his limits again and again for her... Or rather, that is what she believed.

"Why would you do that?"

She saw in BaiShe’s eyes not compassion, but... An emotion difficult to describe... This bastard had a fiancée, he was a deceiver, a lover of jade beauties, and he did not lack them at his side...

"So why? I know what you are thinking, BaiShe. You are taking advantage of my mont of weakness so that I beco one of your conquests!?"

BaiShe shook his head. He knew that Zhi i did not know what love ant. It was useless to manipulate her with that, but if there was one thing she knew well...

"Conquer you? I would rather say that I... I Adore you... I admire you... A talented woman, strong with a steel mind who is ready to brave everything for her ideology... Even ready to confront an heir of an immortal family... This woman fears nothing... So, I would always like to see this woman from the corner of my eye who is ready to protect unknown mortals in an ordinary kingdom of the Lower Realms..."

She was shocked, looking into his eyes, not believing what she had heard.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I am not as strong as you think, BaiShe..."

She collapsed against BaiShe’s chest, crying with sha and relief mixed together. She, the Overlord warrior, was now nothing more than a broken woman seeking a pillar in the storm.

"I... I am sorry... BaiShe..." she sobbed.

The young master of the Xuan family passed an arm around her waist, pulling her against him.

"There is no sha in resting sotis on soone’s shoulder..."

Moreover, he felt the warmth of her body through the armor and the lotus scent escaping from her hair.

"I will always be here for you, Miss i."

He tilted his head and, with a gesture full of tenderness, placed a kiss on her forehead, thus marking his new prey with his imprint.

"Do not cry anymore, my dear Templar... We have a world to purify, and many stages to overco..." he murmured against her skin.

"I may not be the Dao Executor but I am ready to do everything so that you are not sad..."

Since she was a child, Zhi i had been seen as the instrunt of the Dao Executor, nothing more than a servant. She would have said that she had had as much impact on BaiShe...

Secretly, the Celestial Demon had inscribed in the heart of the Holy Templar the dependence on validation... That only BaiShe could provide her.

Yi Lan rematerialized in the shadows, observing the scene with her pink sapphires shining with jealousy, but she remained silent.

"It is ti for to return to the Upper Realms, BaiShe... Until then. We will et again."

Then she disappeared, now extrely embarrassed by the scene she had just made.

****

Everyone had already left the Purple Mist Kingdom, and BaiShe after experiencing it himself realized that even Hue Qing had left the place with his fiancée. He only hoped she would not harm him.

He stood at the edge of the spatial rift, his hands clasped behind his back. But as the Celestial Demon was about to give the signal for departure to the Upper Plane, a slender hand with pink-lacquered nails rested on his shoulder.

"Darling... you were not really thinking of leaving like that?" murmured a honeyed voice that made BaiShe’s ridians vibrate.

Yi Lan, the Fox of Desire, had materialized, her nine tails waving with poorly concealed impatience. She rubbed her opulent chest against her master’s arm, her pink sapphire eyes shining with obsessive light.

"I massacred those Temple dogs for you, I protected your back while you played with the Dao Executor..." she continued while placing a wet kiss on BaiShe’s neck. "I need my reward, now. You owe it to , darling."

BaiShe adjusted his monocle, an amused gleam crossing his silver pupils. He felt the Qi de Luxure he had copied from the fox stir in his own Dantian, responding to the predator’s call.

"You are insatiable, Lan’er..."

"However, you are right. A promise must be honored. Who am I to refuse a woman..."

With a fluid gesture, Yilan activated a movent technique, carrying BaiShe away. They reappeared a few monts later on an isolated hill, in front of a small wooden cabin. The place was calm, surrounded by century-old pines that hid the view of the smoking ruins.

No sooner had they crossed the threshold than Yi Lan threw herself on him. She pushed BaiShe against the door, her hands tearing his tunic with inhuman strength.

"I want you... I want to feel your dragon tear apart..." she panted, her tongue avidly exploring BaiShe’s mouth.
