However, the ground began to tremble violently. Instead of diminishing, the number of Rakshasas suddenly increased. Dozens, then hundreds of horned silhouettes erged from the cracks in the ground and the roofs of the ruined buildings. The army of monsters seed to be drawn by the overflowing vitality of the fox.
"It’s strange... They suddenly beca very nurous," observed BaiShe, his silver pupils scanning the horizon with his Third Eye Art.
"It’s as if the ruins themselves are generating them to protect the Golden Jade Lake."
Yi Lan multiplied the mirror shards, creating a genuine sharp whirlwind around them. Each projectile struck a Rakshasa. Arms, heads, and torsos of Rakshasas piled up into a carpet of decayed flesh around her.
"Lan’er, control your Qi!" BaiShe suddenly ordered sharply. "Zhi i is a 5th stage Overlord, her senses are sharp. If you release too much power, she will sense the Origin signature and our entire plan will fall through."
Yi Lan nodded. She had to contract her ridians, restraining her Demigod strength to stay at the level of a re Overlord, which made the massacre more laborious against such a crowd. The Rakshasas took advantage of this apparent restraint to tighten the circle.
"It’s so annoying to have to play weak!" she grumbled while sending a new volley of shards that decapitated an entire row of attackers. "I just want to reduce them all to ashes and kiss you, darling!"
"Do it with finesse, we’ll see about that later," replied BaiShe, rolling his eyes in exasperation.
He raised his own right hand.
< Arts: Illusory Swords >
Thousands of silver blades appeared in the sky.
The swords plunged down, nailing the Rakshasas to the ground, allowing Yi Lan to finish them off with her mirrors without having to deploy a Law Domain.
Using the reflections of her projectiles to deceive the perception of the remaining monsters. With a graceful movent, she grabbed a Rakshasa trying to attack her from behind and shoved a mirror shard directly into its heart, while whispering in its ear:
"You dared to interrupt my discussion with my husband... Die with that regret."
The two predators continued their advance, leaving a trail of destruction behind them.
"We are approaching."
...
However, the situation was becoming increasingly precarious. BaiShe, usually sovereign, displayed an expression of intense concentration. His fingers, forming the sword gesture, trembled imperceptibly from the effort of maintaining his barriers.
’This is unacceptable,’ he thought bitterly. ’Being cornered by re horned sacks of at because I am forced to restrain my essence.’
Indeed, BaiShe could not use his devouring art either.
Using the < Primordial Art of Devouring > would an manifesting the hundreds of thin, monstrous hands equipped with toothed mouths, a visual signature that Zhi i, the Holy Templar, would imdiately identify as the Devourer’s energy.
Consequently, he was reduced to using his < Arts: Illusory Swords >, a divine-rank technique but which, at this level, struggled to contain the rising tide of monsters.
"Darling, there are too many of them!" exclaid Yi Lan while spinning her jade mirror to deflect a purple Khao laser. "Let release my Law Domain!"
"No, Lan’er," BaiShe replied sharply, without taking his gaze off a six-horned Rakshasa lumbering forward.
Yi Lan gritted her teeth, her pink sapphire eyes turning purple out of sheer annoyance.
"I hate playing weak for that saintess," she grumbled while decapitating an attacker with a glass shard.
A six-horned Rakshasa, a three-ter-tall abomination whose porcelain mask was split by unstable khaotic energy, lunged at BaiShe.
The young master tried to manifest a high-density illusory sword to parry the blow, but the pressure of the surrounding Khao was eroding his concentration. The monster’s massive claw was only centiters from his chest.
But at the last mont, a black fla turned the monster to ash.
The heat of the attack was so intense that it seed to consu the very oxygen in the area, leaving behind a sll of sulfur.
A silhouette descended slowly, shrouded in an aura of absolute domination that made the surviving Rakshasas retreat by pure survival instinct.
Long Huang, the Demon Dragoness with Black Flas, had just appeared.
Her black gothic dress floated around her like smoke, and her ten curved horns shone with a sinister gleam. Her eyes, completely black without sclera, first fixed on BaiShe with an intensity mixed with contempt.
"You... How can you be so useless?" she began, her voice causing the dantians of everyone present to vibrate. "I heard in the demon clan that Xuan BaiShe had descended to the Lower Realms for a sacred mission. I did not expect to find you here, struggling pathetically against insects."
Long Huang, who had heard that BaiShe was in the Lower Realms, finally joined them. She had left the domain of the Pride Clan after stabilizing part of her power at the demigod level, following the signature of khaotic Qi that only she could identify across dinsions.
"You arrive a bit late for introductions, Dragoness," comnted BaiShe. "But your help would not be unwelco."
Long Huang let out a contemptuous snort, crossing her arms over her opulent chest. She turned to the horde of Rakshasas that was beginning to regroup, ignoring the presence of Yi Lan who was sizing her up with obvious hostility.
"Go away, Celestial Demon. The essence of these rakshasas will serve as fuel for my flas. Do not get in my way, or you will end up like them: reduced to dust."
BaiShe smirked. He knew Long Huang’s arrogance, but he also knew that no one in this realm, except Huojin, could rival the fire of an Origin dragon, even restrained.
"Very well. I leave it to you to clear the surroundings," replied BaiShe. "Yi Lan, we are leaving. The Executor is about to finish his arrangents, and I wouldn’t want to miss the show."
Yi Lan cast one last furious look at Long Huang, baring her fangs. "If you touch a single hair on BaiShe while we are apart, I will rip your ten horns off one by one," threatened the fox.
Long Huang didn’t even bother to reply, simply raising a hand. A sphere of black flas ford in the hollow of her palm, pulsing with destructive force.
"Go ahead," she ordered simply. "I can already feel the disgust this area inspires in . The faster you finish, the faster I can leave this pathetic place."
