Hong Ye returned from having a chat with her Dao Sisters about an exciting new prospect of spending more ti with Wu Long, to find her twin older sister sitting next to the relatively small training field they were both using as almost their private one since its small size was well suited for their needs but not much use to the others.
Hong Yue was in a small gazebo that was placed there for rest and if there was soone just visiting the training field while soone used it. Her white hair was hiding her expression as she was looking down at sothing small in her hands, while a wide-top relatively shorter height wooden box was in front of her, it’s lid open.
"What are you doing?", Hong Ye asked with curiosity as she ca closer, hugging her sister.
"Hmm? Ah... ehm... just~... a way to pass ti during breaks", Hong Yue beca slightly flustered, hurriedly putting back the jade slip she was holding into a wooden box filled with similar jade slips, all neatly vertically sitting in a wooden grid of densely packed slots perfectly sized to fit the jades, and closing the lid that had a long string of numbers and symbols written on top.
"Eh? Aren’t those...", Hong Ye recognized the wooden box, many of her Dao Sisters had similar ones - they contained thousands upon thousands of potential cases for Sowing Karma investigated by the Thousand Eyes Palace recorded on numbered jade slips - ones that were classified as non-important or low-level.
Recently, so of Wu Long’s beauties took up an interest in sifting through those in their spare tis, so Hong Ye began seeing them here and there around the Main Mansion.
At first it was similar to simply reading interesting stories - almost like reading books. It also spiced up their conversations as they began discussing them.
All it took was to simply ask Butler Bang for it through one of his subordinates or if they saw him in person, and they would get a random set of copies made by the Thousand Eyes Palace delivered to them shortly after, as there were enough jade slips for hundreds, if not thousands already, of such boxes, only differing by numbers written on top of them.
Their number only continued to grow since the Thousand Eyes Palace began slowly and unnoticeably for the outside world spreading their activities to the outside of the Silver Wing City, first to the whole Soft adow Continent, and most recently even beyond. This ant that the number of cases grew exponentially.
But then, when Wu Long’s ladies, upon casual reading, began noticing details or rather possibilities that regular mbers of the Thousand Eyes Palace overlooked - which was normal given the vast number of information that went through them - and ntioning these snippets of insight to Wu Long, that caused him to reevaluate the importance of so cases, instructing deeper research or even imdiately sending people to begin actions on the case.
This made it obvious that going through these was possibly helpful to Wu Long, which made these boxes quite popular even among the ladies who weren’t previously interested in them.
And since all of them only did it in spare ti, and with the interest of reading stories, he had nothing to object to, only grateful for their help.
But it was the first ti Hong Ye saw one of those boxes in Hong Yue’s possession.
And with a keen eye of an assassin, she knew it was a brand new box, freshly made since it had both the look and the distinct sll of recently processed wood. Even the ink that numbers were written with on the lid still had the deep and rich color of freshness. Which ant she didn’t just borrow an older box from one of the other beauties to ’pass ti’ reading, but received a new one from Butler Bang.
Hong Ye grinned, almost having the urge to begin teasing her twin, but rembered Gong Cui telling her that it could have the opposite effect, holding it in.
What Hong Ye didn’t realize though, was that Hong Yue was actually the very first one to ask for one of these boxes from Butler Bang.
Or rather, she asked for a small selection of cases for Sowing Karma, and as a result was given a custom-made box thus becoming the spark for the first creation of one.
That happened after her conversation with Wu Long at the wine tower about Sowing Karma, and was driven more by curiosity than anything else.
It also beca Hong Yue’s regular pasti when everyone was in seclusion with Wu Long for a week so she couldn’t spend ti with Hong Ye.
When it already beca a habit of hers to go get a new box from Butler Bang every now and then, Gong Cui who was ’monitoring the subject’ while helping Hong Ye with the win-win-win strategy, saw her receiving it, and after asking Butler Bang, got interested and asked for a box herself.
This was how they spread through the Main Mansion of the Dream Realm.
Hong Yue, anwhile, was inwardly flustered as she got caught doing ’sothing silly’. Not to ntion, that she really did think that perhaps it could be helpful to Wu Long as she heard other beauties discussing it. And that thought sohow made her excited, and now that she got caught, embarrassed.
’Embarrassed? Why should I be embarrassed? I-It’s perfectly normal to want to be helpful to soone who has done so much for and Ye’er’, she then thought, arguing without an opponent but sohow feeling the need to defend her position, ’I’m living in his mansion with his family, even received a Supre Cultivation thod of our Assassin Group, and get a lot of help and kindness from him in general. Why wouldn’t I want to be helpful to him? He’s also kind to give ti amid busy schedule and answer all my questions, as well as a lot of advice and even responsible for giving a completely new perspective on life... even that ti...’
Her mind returned to that night in the Erald Falls City. The ti she was on the verge of a ntal breakdown, overwheld by completely new and unknown emotions and feelings, when he helped her calm down and get through it, at that ti, she ended up in his arms and it was so... ’... warm, comforting and cozy.... sst~!!!’
She suddenly sat up straight, almost hitting the nose of Hong Ye who was right behind her, who only evaded due to the instincts of an assassin.
"Whoa~... are we already back to training?", Hong Ye widened her eyes.
"Training!", Hong Yue’s replied in a much louder voice than usual, the tone sounding a bit forced, and also giving off the distinct feeling that she grabbed onto a word from Hong Ye rather than intending to say it before, "Yes! Let’s continue training! Let’s go!"
Hong Ye chuckled, thinking her twin was still embarrassed about the box but following Gong Cui’s advice did not tease her, following her back onto the training field.
’Hehe, Sister Yue can be so cute, look at that blush just because she got caught with a simple hobby’, Hong Ye chuckled, looking at the bright red face that turned to her.
