Lin Chu lifted her gaze to look at the old man seated at the head, only to et those experienced yet still sharp eagle-like eyes. The complicated undercurrents in his eyes scared her, and her grip on the cup involuntarily tightened.

But... the old man averted his gaze in the next second, making that cold and sharp look seem like it was just her illusion.

No one continued the topic.

The dishes on the table that were a bit too greasy had been taken back to the kitchen by the servants. Lin Chu drank half a glass of warm water.

Although she had no appetite, clearly this was not an occasion she could leave early, so she forced herself to eat half a bowl.

After the al, the old man didn’t an to stay longer. After all, Lu Zongjun wasn’t his only son, and given his temperant, he would visit each family.

After seeing the old man out, Lu Huai’an and Lin Chu didn’t go back inside. Since the Lin Family only had Lin Chu as a daughter, it was only right to go visit, so Mr. and Mrs. Lu said nothing.

The car had just left the neighborhood when Lu Huai’an received a call from the old man.

Lin Chu didn’t know the specifics of their conversation, she only noticed the man’s brow gradually furrowing, and the aura around him subtly changing.

After the call ended, she asked softly, "What’s wrong?"

The car had only been driving away from the Lu family mansion for a few minutes. What couldn’t be said face-to-face?

Lu Huai’an parked the car on the roadside, unbuckling his seatbelt, his cold face calm and unruffled, "Nothing much, grandpa asked to go over. It’s cold outside, you stay in the car."

Lin Chu didn’t ask further, nodding, "Oh, put your coat on."

Although it was late in the year, the temperature in mid-February was still quite low.

Lu Huai’an paused his motion of opening the door, turning back to gaze at the girl’s clean face.

The car was parked right under a streetlamp, the dim light casting a soft halo over her delicate features.

Since that day, she hadn’t really shown him a nice face.

"Caring about ?"

Lin Chu smiled a bit, "Yes, after all, we are still married. If you fall ill, I have the obligation to take care of you, but I’m worried I won’t have the energy, so you’d better not get sick."

Lu Huai’an didn’t seem to mind her indifferent and lazy attitude at all, reaching over to pinch her nose lightly, "Even if I were to get sick, it would be because of this sickly person like you."

Lin Chu felt like rolling her eyes.

Her cold had co suddenly, lingering for a long ti, and with her nose stuffed, breathing was hard enough. Now being pinched, she could only open her mouth to let fresh air into her lungs.

She glared at him with displeasure, "I used to be indestructible, rolling in the snow without any problem."

Her implication being that the ’sickly’ person Lu Huai’an ntioned was due to being mistreated after marrying him.

Lu Huai’an didn’t get angry, only finding her scrunched-up features exceedingly vivid and lively.

Bodily instincts overpowered reason, as he let go of the hand pinching her nose and leaned over to cover her blushing lips with his own.

Less of a domineering pressure and possessiveness, more of tenderness.

The old man waiting at the intersection a hundred ters ahead was forgotten in this mont.

It had been nearly a month since that incident. Although they still lay in the sa bed every night, they never went beyond hugging.

Lu Huai’an seed to know that Lin Chu was afraid of him. He was very aware of what he had done that night. A girl raised in a honey pot, bullied by him in such a way, would surely have a shadow over her heart.

So during this ti, he hadn’t touched her at all, even though his youthful body was aching with needs, he didn’t.

Lin Chu was completely stiff, being pressed into the corner ford by the car door and seat, his scent invading her mouth, every inch marked by his touch.

No response, nor rejection.

Initially, she rely accepted his kiss passively, clutching his clothes without realizing it.

Perhaps it was the snow beginning to fall, creating a dreamlike beauty under the misty streetlamp light, or maybe it was the gentleness of his kiss, but her rigid body slowly softened.

Lu Huai’an didn’t go too far, once her cold lips ward up, his lips and tongue retreated.

A nearly perverse self-control pulled him back to reality from a brief lapse, his dark eyes seemingly ablaze, his rough thumb brushed over her lips, gentle and slow.
