Gu Shaozhi took the water cup, brushed it against the woman’s dry lips, and gently threatened, "Wanwan, if you don’t take your dicine, I’ll have to take you to the hospital."
Wanxia heard the word "hospital."
Weakly holding onto the man’s waist, she snuggled into his embrace, her frail voice barely audible, "I don’t want to... Shaozhi... I don’t want to go."
Shaozhi, Shaozhi...
All of Gu Shaozhi’s actions paused at that mont, including his breath.
Since the unrecoverable rift four years ago, she hadn’t called him that way.
It was always the distant "Mr. Gu," the polite yet detached "Mr. Gu," or calling him directly by his full na, "Gu Shaozhi."
He didn’t know how long it took for him to recover from that trance.
Gazing at the woman’s flushed face, a pure smile appeared on his lips as he kissed her forehead, softly coaxing, "Alright, we won’t go to the hospital."
Upon hearing that they wouldn’t go to the hospital, Wanxia quieted down.
Gu Shaozhi put the pill in his mouth, then gently pinched the woman’s chin. When her lips opened slightly, he lowered his head, kissed her, and passed the pill into her mouth.
Then, he took a sip of warm water and repeated the action, giving her the water.
As the warm water entered, Wanxia unconsciously swallowed.
After giving her half a cup, he didn’t know whether the pill dissolved or was swallowed.
After taking the dicine, Wanxia’s consciousness beca more muddled. Sotis she felt cold, sotis hot, and when sweating, she would always kick the blanket.
Helpless, Gu Shaozhi could only hold her in his arms to stop her from moving around.
Every ti Wanxia whimpered unconsciously, Gu Shaozhi would lower his head to find her lips, kiss her gently, and then she would beco calm and obedient.
Until the sky brightened, Gu Shaozhi didn’t dare sleep, or rather, he was unwilling to sleep.
There was a wall lamp on in the bedroom, which cast a gentle light.
Gu Shaozhi gazed at the woman’s beautiful sleeping face, his warm fingers slowly and softly caressing the back of her hand.
A sudden mischievous thought crossed his mind: if only she could stay sick for two more days.
————
Covered tightly the whole night, Wanxia’s fever temporarily subsided, and by the ti she woke up, it was already noon.
Gu Shaozhi ca in with a bowl of porridge and saw the small woman sitting on the bed, her long hair ssy and a few strands sticking to her nose. Hearing the door open, she sluggishly lifted her head to look at him.
Her eyes were dazed, looking adorably confused, as if she felt disoriented about her surroundings.
Gu Shaozhi smirked slightly.
He walked over to the bed with long strides, placed the bowl on the bedside table, and gently pushed the bewildered little woman back under the covers.
His voice was warm and low, "Lie down properly, or if you’re not careful and catch a cold, the fever will return."
Wanxia’s sickness had made her weak and easily fatigued.
Once again, she was tucked in tightly with only her head peeking out of the covers. She gazed at the man’s gentle and handso face, blinked softly, and spoke in a low voice, "I want a bath."
Her tonsils were inflad, and her voice was terribly hoarse.
Though it wasn’t pleasant to hear, it sohow evoked a pitiful frailty.
Indeed, it was quite endearing, and Gu Shaozhi couldn’t help but fall for it, but he still said, "No."
Wanxia had been sweating all night, and Gu Shaozhi had already changed her pajamas twice, yet they still felt damp.
If she didn’t bathe soon, she feared she’d start to sll herself, "But I feel all sticky and uncomfortable."
Gu Shaozhi remained unmoved.
Wanxia reached out of the covers, tugging gently at the man’s loungewear, "I’ve already stopped running a fever, I just need a bath, it’s not like there’ll be a draft."
This was bordering on being coquettish.
Along with those pitiful eyes, Gu Shaozhi surrendered without a fight.
Reluctantly compromising, "First, have so porridge, and once you’ve finished, I’ll let you bathe."
Hearing this, Wanxia smiled and willingly crawled up from the bed, leaning against the headboard.
Watching as the man, before she could even reach out, picked up the bowl from the table and brought a spoonful of porridge to her lips after blowing on it to cool it down.
Was this... him intent on feeding her?
"I can eat by myself, no need for you to feed ."
Wanxia had just lifted her hand, ready to take the spoon, but before she could touch it, the man’s arm moved aside, avoiding her attempt.
She raised her head, eting the man’s displeased gaze.
Gu Shaozhi looked at her expressionlessly, his thin lips parting as he said, "Then spit out all the dicine you took."
She realized she was cuter when sick.
Wanxia didn’t quite understand, "Huh?"
After a half-minute of staring at each other, Gu Shaozhi reminded her, "Since last night until now, you’ve taken the dicine three tis, each ti fed by ," he paused for a few seconds, and then continued, "fed with my mouth."
The last three words were deliberately emphasized.
Wanxia’s ears turned hot all of a sudden.
Having just recovered from the fever and just woken up, her cheeks still had an unusual redness. Even with her skin burning hot, one couldn’t tell anything abnormal.
Naturally averting her gaze to the crystal chandelier on the ceiling, "I’m not the type to need soone to... to feed dicine just because I have a fever."
"Shall I feed you once more to help you recall?"
The man’s gaze seed to carry flas, making Wanxia feel as if her skin was about to ignite. She pursed her lips, shifting her focus to the yellowing leaves outside the window.
"No need, I have a good mory. A fever doesn’t make lose consciousness, so don’t try to mislead ."
Gu Shaozhi wasn’t angry, just smiled aningfully.
Since the porridge was still a bit hot, he wasn’t in a hurry to make her eat, placing the bowl back on the bedside table.
With his palm resting on the pillow, he slowly leaned closer to her.
"I wonder who it was last night holding onto , unwilling to let go. Each ti I tried to move away, they’d cling on again, snuggling into my embrace, crying not to leave, saring tears and snot all over , whining about pain here and there, claiming they were scared and didn’t want to sleep alone."
The man’s voice was deliberately low, each word spoken slowly.
With a playful smirk, he intended to let his breath freely drift onto Wanxia’s face, his half-smiling expression making Wanxia instinctively want to retreat.
But she was right against the headboard, leaving no room to back away.
Watching as the man’s lips were about to co down...
