The man held a household dicine box in his hand, his sharply defined features showing no emotion, indicating he had been standing at the door without her knowing.
Wanxia handed over the phone, her voice calm and light, "Shen Weiyi’s agent, I just thought it was a bit noisy, didn’t an to answer it."
Whether she was lying or telling the truth, Gu Shaozhi could see through it.
Born from a prestigious family, she lacked those unsavory habits and naturally disdained getting involved in his social affairs.
In Gu Shaozhi’s heart, he hoped she was lying, hoped she would answer other won’s calls, and deliberately make herself unpleasant, all because of petty jealousy.
But clearly, none of this was true.
Gu Shaozhi walked to the sofa, gazed deeply at the woman’s calm face, and reached out to take the phone.
With an indifferent voice, he asked, "What’s the matter?"
Wanxia couldn’t hear what the agent on the other end was saying to him, nor was she interested. She lowered her head, resting her chin on her knees.
Her scuffed toe no longer hurt, only a slight numbness remained.
The dicine box was still in the man’s hand, and she wasn’t going to ask him for it while he was on the phone, just sat quietly on the sofa.
From start to end, Gu Shaozhi hadn’t uttered more than five words in response, his stern and resolute face remained extrely faint, as if the matter was not very serious.
"I understand."
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
He leaned down, moved away the woman’s hands checking her injured toe, frowned slightly, and scolded in a low voice, "Don’t touch it, you’re an adult, don’t you know this basic common sense?"
Wanxia pouted, but said nothing.
Gu Shaozhi sat on the sofa, placed her foot on his thigh, took out a disinfectant swab, his movents gentle and focused, as if he hadn’t just taken that phone call.
When the swab touched the wound, the woman retracted her foot.
Gu Shaozhi looked up, "What’s the matter?" his voice low and gentle, completely different from the indifference on the phone, "Does it hurt? I’ll be gentler."
The tenderness in the man’s eyes could almost drown soone.
After locking eyes for a few seconds, Wanxia was the first to look away, moving back slightly, "You should go if you’re busy, it’s just a little scuff, not a big deal, I can handle it myself."
Although she didn’t know exactly what Shen Weiyi’s agent said, she had heard words like ’concert’ and ’stage collapse’ before handing the phone over.
So it probably wasn’t a minor issue.
Gu Shaozhi eyed the woman with a faint smile, his handso features displaying a gentle allure, thin lips slightly parted, "If you say one more word for to leave, I’ll think you’re being petty with ."
"I apologize, Mr. Gu, you’re overthinking it."
"So don’t move back anymore, I’ll be worried if you fall off the sofa."
The man’s words were enigmatic, making Wanxia pause her movents.
She didn’t know what ca over her, she then really didn’t move back any further, just stared dazedly as he disinfected the broken skin on her toe, applied a band-aid, then helped her put her slippers back on.
Gu Shaozhi tidied up the dicine box, placed it on the table, went to the bathroom to wash his hands, and when he ca out, the young woman was still sitting on the sofa staring at her toe in a daze.
A gentle arc rose at the corner of his lips; he reached out to tousle her long hair, his voice low and magnetic, "Sitting still, hoping I’ll carry you downstairs?"
Neither of them spoke during the wound treatnt, the bedroom was very quiet.
The man’s sudden action snapped Wanxia’s hazy nerves back to reality, dodging without showing it, and stood up, "You have sothing to attend to outside, why would I go downstairs?"
Gu Shaozhi took the woman’s hand, guiding her out of the bedroom, "Co downstairs to have dinner with ."
It was said as if it was perfectly natural.
Wanxia tried to break free, but before she could move, the strength of his grip increased significantly, her small resistance was completely ineffective,
Considering he had just treated her wound, she didn’t dwell on it, letting him hold her hand, "Didn’t you say earlier you were in a bad mood and weren’t planning to eat?"
She had co out of the study, preparing to go downstairs and deal with the al she had spent over an hour making.
"That was then, now is now," Gu Shaozhi curved his lips, his features gentle, "I rembered soone once said that not eating on ti is bad for health, I would have all kinds of ailnts tornt in old age, and if tonight’s dinner ended up in the trash, she’d be unhappy."
