The mud on the ancient corpse’s face was washed away by the rain, and Liu An recognized it as a colleague of Mrs. Mu. He quietly moved the umbrella over her head.
Mu Jin Huan was dressed in a black shirt and black suit pants, with mud stains on his shoes and pant legs, yet his noble deanor remained incompatible with such a simple rural setting.
With indifferent eyes, he asked in a low voice, "Where is Nan Wan?"
After confirming that it was indeed Mu Jin Huan, Qin Zhenzhen burst into tears, pointing in the direction of the mud house, speaking incoherently, "I just went to the toilet, and when I ca out, I heard a loud rumble. It’s all my fault for running my mouth, really caused the house to collapse, what should I do, what should I do, Doctor Nan is still inside..."
As she spoke, the man in front of her already strode quickly toward the mud house, leaving only the umbrella behind where he had stood.
Liu An couldn’t bother with her either, following closely behind Mu Jin Huan, using a flashlight to light the way for him.
...
All around were soil and rainwater, with a few beams supporting a small relatively safe area.
Nan Wan leaned in the corner, her face pale and bloodless, the hand caressing the little girl’s cheek trembled slightly.
"Auntie, I called grandma several tis but there was no answer, is she already dead?" the voice was obviously sobbing.
They were in the outer room, grandma was in the inner room.
A mont ago she was still talking to Auntie about interesting things at school, why did it suddenly beco like this?
"We don’t know yet," Nan Wan forced a smile, gently soothing, "Don’t be afraid, your body is small, you can crawl out from here."
With this sudden change, the electrical circuit was already destroyed, darkness enveloped everything, but the flashlight in her pocket still worked as she turned it on to illuminate, "Look, you just need to take a dozen steps, just be brave."
"What about you, Auntie?"
Nan Wan held the child’s waist, helping her stand up from the ground, giving a reassuring smile, "You go out first, I’ll find a way afterwards."
As soon as she said this, she faintly heard soone outside calling her, "Wanwan?"
The heavy voice carried a very discernible apprehension and fear.
It was him.
She longed for him so much that it seed God heard her prayers, and allowed him to appear when she was helpless and without aid.
Her eyes ward with tears, she responded, "Mu Huan, I’m here."
Mu Jin Huan was drenched, an ominous gloom surrounded him, it did not fade even when he heard her voice.
Dark eyes twisted with shadow, his voice gentle, "Don’t be afraid, wait for ."
Nan Wan’s tears overflowed in that mont, fear and dread faded away, she choked out, "I’m fine."
Her palm gently rested on her lower abdon, if they could escape safely, she would tell him.
Liu An stepped forward, "President Mu, let go inside."
The rain continued to fall, and another landslide could occur at any mont.
Mu Jin Huan didn’t waste ti with unnecessary words, every second lost increased the danger for those inside.
By the ti Qin Zhenzhen clambered her way up, Mu Jin Huan had already entered, leaving Liu An to restrain an emotionally distraught Qin Zhenzhen, placing a phone in her hand, "Don’t go in and cause more chaos, contact your supervisors."
He then stepped into the wreckage.
Nan Wan’s location was only a dozen steps from the main entrance, Liu An bit the flashlight, using his body to support the beams.
The young girl’s eyes were wet, clear and bright, "Uncle, my grandma is inside, can you help save her?"
Mu Jin Huan responded with a simple, "Hmm."
Everyone understood how perilous the situation was.
Nan Wan wanted to speak, but before she could, the man freed a hand to caress her face, "Be good, you take the child out first."
Even in the dim flashlight beam, Nan Wan could see the calm and profound gaze in his eyes, slowly nodding and whispering, "I’ll wait for you outside."
...
After Qin Zhenzhen finished her call, she picked up the umbrella from the ground, pacing anxiously back and forth.
When she saw Nan Wan and the little girl erge, her heart that had been in her throat finally settled, and she hurried over to embrace Nan Wan.
She cried, "Doctor Nan, are you okay? You almost scared to death, I’m so sorry, I’ll never talk nonsense again, sobbing..."
Nan Wan, knowing she shouldn’t get caught in the rain, stabilized the crooked umbrella over her head, "I’m fine, it’s a natural disaster, it has nothing to do with you."
Suddenly Qin Zhenzhen rembered sothing, she released her tight grip on Nan Wan’s neck, looking behind her.
"Huh? The handso man hasn’t co out, and grandma too!"
With only one umbrella, Nan Wan pulled the little girl into the middle, thankfully the rain wasn’t heavy, "Did you contact the supervisors?"
