Nan Wan raised her hand to tuck the stray hair beside her cheek behind her ear, smiling gently. "Since Miss Yu loves him so much, why didn’t you use similar ans to tie him down during those thirty years before he married ?"
"I’ve been through a near-death experience, and it’s only when lingering by death’s door that many things beco clear. Besides... he’s so wonderful, I’ve lost everything else, I just want him."
There was no more straightforward way to put it.
This ti, Nan Wan truly laughed. Her innate dignity made her entire being elegant, and her voice was soft and gentle. "What a coincidence, I too have visited death’s door."
The door to the ward opened, and Jiashu ca out from inside. Standing on tiptoe, he reached for the doorknob, trying to close the door, but despite using all his strength, he could barely touch it.
He looked at Nan Wan on the bench, pleading with his eyes for help.
Nan Wan stood up and, before stepping toward the ward, said to Yu Qinglu, "Just like Miss Yu said, he’s so wonderful, why should I let go?"
Yu Qinglu sat on the bench, the curve of her lips gradually fading.
When the elevator door opened, Liu An saw Nan Wan and Jiashu at the elevator entrance and froze for a few seconds.
It was only when soone inside urged him that he snapped back to reality, hurriedly stepped out of the elevator, and bowed respectfully. "Madam, aren’t you supposed to be resting at ho?"
Nan Wan glanced at him coolly. "Did President Mu ask you to monitor ?"
Liu An thought Nan Wan had misunderstood sothing and quickly explained, "No, no, I’m here to accompany Miss Yu for her follow-up appointnt at the hospital."
Nan Wan adjusted Jiashu’s baseball cap again, and before the elevator ca down, she picked up Jiashu and, without looking at Liu An, said softly, "Thank you for your hard work."
Jiashu was very obedient too, wrapping his arms around Nan Wan’s neck and burying his face in the crook of her neck, such that others could hardly see his face.
It wasn’t until the elevator doors closed that Liu An finally relaxed.
If he rembered correctly, this should be the politest encounter Mrs. Mu ever had with him.
Perhaps people just have a penchant for hardship because he actually felt more comfortable when Nan Wan was less friendly with him.
But the current politeness, upon closer consideration, carried a sense of detachnt.
Yu Qinglu remained seated on the bench, looking at Liu An with a gaze that was cold and devoid of warmth. "Am I a lot worse than her?"
"Everyone has their own strengths and can’t be compared directly as they’re not the sa kind of people," Liu An said, realizing sothing was off, but the words had already been said and couldn’t be taken back.
His gaze remained unyielding and calm as he cleared his throat and explained, "Miss Yu, please don’t misunderstand. I ant that you and our madam are in different fields."
Yu Qinglu smiled nonchalantly, "Living in one place while longing for another, truly a grievance for you."
Liu An had been around Mu Jin Huan long enough to learn a bit of composure and calmness. Even when his thoughts were seen through, he showed no embarrassnt on his face. "This is also my job."
He was indeed thinking about sothing else just now. Given Mrs. Mu’s personality, she probably didn’t bring a driver when she went out. If she’s been driving for a long ti while feeling unwell, President Mu would definitely feel distressed.
Yu Qinglu stood up, although she still couldn’t walk for long, she had rested for a long ti, and her strength had recovered.
As she walked towards the elevator, she asked, "I heard the Mu Family is recruiting for a secretary for the president?"
Recruitnt information isn’t confidential, and Liu An wouldn’t provoke such a temperantal person over a trivial matter.
Walking behind her, he replied, "Yes, one of President Mu’s secretaries is on maternity leave, so soone is needed to fill her position. We just haven’t found a suitable candidate yet."
...
When Nan Wan and Jiashu returned to the North Shore Villa, a crisp and soft voice was added to the living room.
The mont Jiashu heard it, he knew who it was, and his gloomy mood brightened at once. He didn’t even bother to change his shoes as he kicked his little legs and ran to the living room. "Qingqing, when did you co?"
Little Mu Qingqing was trying hard to please the big golden retriever. Seeing her little friend return, her frustration was instantly replaced by joy, "I just got here."
"Aunt," little Qingqing asked Nan Wan with a grievances look, "Why won’t the dog pay attention to ?"
Seeing a little pink bundle of joy at ho startled Nan Wan for a mont. Aunt Zhou told her it was Mu Jinqian who brought her over half an hour ago, and he had already left.
Nan Wan nodded, knowing in her heart that Mu Jin Huan must have asked him to bring his daughter over to keep Jiashu company.
She took off her coat and handed it to Aunt Zhou, walking towards the living room with a gentle smile in her eyes. "It’s the first ti it’s t you and isn’t familiar yet. Play ball with it for a while, and soon it will stick to you."
