Nan Wan stood in the living room, watching Mu Jin Huan carry Jiashu upstairs, her gaze was softer and calr than ever.

A young and tender face, a sharply defined handso face, one with a height that only reached her thigh so she had to look down at Jiashu, the other with a height of 1.87 ters so she had to look up at Mu Jin Huan while she wore flat shoes.

The scene seed quite harmonious.

Aunt Zhou thought Nan Wan was recalling sothing sad and cleared her throat, lovingly saying, "Madam, you’re still young, sooner or later you’ll conceive."

Nan Wan withdrew her gaze and did not explain, heading toward the dining room, stopping halfway.

Turning back to ask Aunt Zhou, "If two people marry, having a child would be better, wouldn’t it?"

He ntioned more than once wanting a child.

"That’s right," even though so ti had passed, Aunt Zhou hadn’t forgotten about it and felt if Madam got pregnant again, everyone would be overjoyed, "A child is the crystallization of a couple’s love. With a baby in the house, the atmosphere and feelings change."

After listening, Nan Wan smiled and said no more, going to the dining room to serve them rice.

...

Upstairs, in the bathroom.

Mu Jin Huan held Jiashu’s hand, washing it under the faucet, his dark eyes lowered, emotions hidden thoroughly.

His hand is so small, so soft...

In his ears echoed the doctor’s words: Mrs. Mu’s health is poor, deeply affected by the cold, future pregnancies might be difficult.

Every word seed to be soaking in that river water, ice-cold, penetrating.

The foam on Jiashu’s hand had been rinsed off, yet it was still held under warm running water from the faucet.

Tilting his head, he looked at Mu Jin Huan, confused, and asked softly, "Uncle Mu, should we wash again?"

Shen Zhii had taught him many tis to call him ’uncle-in-law,’ but he still hadn’t changed.

Mu Jin Huan snapped back to reality, turned off the faucet, and replied calmly, "No need."

Turning around and grabbing a clean towel, he dried Jiashu’s hands while asking, "Can you sleep by yourself tonight?"

It’s peculiar; a boy’s behavior differs when with his mother compared to his father. This is the case in most families with sons.

Thus, Jiashu is no exception; softer in Nan Wan’s presence but strong and independent around Mu Jin Huan.

For instance, now he grabs the towel to dry his hands, like a little adult, "Not today, tomorrow I can."

Mu Jin Huan straightened up, looking at Jiashu, who was the spitting image of Nan Ze, and slowly tossed out a tempting offer, "If you sleep alone tonight, Uncle will bring Qingqing over to play with you tomorrow until your mom returns."

Jiashu carefully considered for a while, deciding a long-term playmate was better.

Tilting his head, but the other was too tall, he had to step back to ease his neck, "Then... could Auntie tell a story first?"

Mu Jin Huan raised an eyebrow, took the towel from his hands, and hung it up, saying, "Sure."

...

During dinner, Jiashu showed no signs of being difficult, eating obediently, occasionally exchanging glances with the calm-faced Mu Jin Huan.

After all, he’s Nan Ze and Shen Zhii’s son, highly adaptable.

Nan Wan watched, baffled, though it seed odd, she couldn’t deny this was optimal; if Jiashu acted out, she might not have enough energy to coax him.

She couldn’t understand how two people thirty years apart could have common topics, only communicating through glances.

She appeared to be the one excluded from their circle.

"What... are you two exchanging?"

Mu Jin Huan placed a chicken wing in Jiashu’s bowl, pretending not to understand, and asked back, "What?"

Nan Wan wouldn’t believe that, shifting her gaze from the man’s face to Jiashu, smiling and asking, "Is Auntie good to you?"

Jiashu’s chubby little hands holding the chicken wing, his round, bright eyes, tongue licking the oil from his lips, cleverly replied, "Yes."

Nan Wan put down her chopsticks, palm resting her chin, slowly coaxing with a smile, "Auntie’s so good to you, can you lie to her?"

Normally aren’t hands washed before als supposed to be done in the kitchen?

Yet he took Jiashu upstairs, obviously avoiding her.
