If Luke said that he was not scared at this mont, he would be the biggest liar in the universe.
The dread bubbling in his Spirit Body was palpable.
Even the other mbers of the Tarot Club could feel his fear, despite not being able to read his face, emotions, or thoughts. Yet, none of them dared to mock him. If it were any one of them in place of Mr. Devil, then perhaps they would have shown an even more intense emotion.
Only Derrick and Leonard could remotely understand the feelings Mr. Devil was going through at this mont.
"It was a Worm of Ti," the Star, seated to Luke's right, said. "Knowing that you were attempting your Advancent Ritual, Mr. Fool had brought all of us here. But just before He could bring you above the Gray Castle, He noticed the Worm of Ti latched onto your Spirit.
"It's a specialty of the Marauder Pathway and one of Amon's favorite ways to toy with His victims. If it went unnoticed, the Worm of Ti could use your senses to hear, see… even read your thoughts. Slowly, it would have replaced you completely."
Replaced completely… Luke gulped, a chill running down his spine.
"Mr. Fool can see a Worm of Ti from above the Gray Castle," the Sun said. "Perhaps, Amon was trying to co here through you. That's what He had tried to do with , too."
Luke gaped.
The pain and fear in Sun's voice resonated with his own emotions.
"Mr. Fool's lightning expelled it out of you and killed it instantly, though," Hermit chid in. "Which also suggests that the Worm of Ti wasn't as strong as it was in the case of the Sun…?"
Hermit's sentence ended in a question as she secretly glanced at Mr. Fool, hoping for Him to confirm it.
He didn't.
"So…" Luke said, hesitating. "When? How? I thought… The System didn't know?"
"The System, as you know it, isn't all-knowing and all-powerful, Mr. Devil," Mr. Fool said. "It does have so extraordinary quality when it cos to the field of psyche, but if it could detect Amon's Worm of Ti, then He wouldn't be Amon any longer. From your mories, it seed to have happened after you were admitted to the Hospital."
Luke's heart sank.
Didn't that an… Didn't that an that one of the people who had t him… was also parasitized by Amon?!
Momo's face flashed across Luke's vision, and, for the first ti, the fear he carried regarding Amon abated… replaced by cold anger.
"It's unlikely," Mr. Fool said, knowing Luke's thoughts. "Amon wouldn't reveal Himself to Conformity and Singularity, as to Them, He is the very definition of an Intruder. Parasitizing a Quirk user would be detrintal to His existence in your world. So, He must have co through a Quirkless person."
Luke's eyes lit up. "All Might?!" he blurted.
Mr. Fool nodded. "It's possible, but impossible to confirm. Not anymore. He must have already sensed the destroyed Worm of Ti. If He had been parasitizing All Might before, He would have already changed host."
Luke fell into a great stupor.
Conformity and Singularity… At least he knew what to expect of Them to so extent. But how should he fight an enemy who was leagues beyond him in trickeries, whose intentions were as elusive to him as His presence, and… who was a rival of a storming God?!
The Tarot Club mbers wanted to guide Mr. Devil.
But the matter of Amon was so serious and tricky that even they depended upon Mr. Fool's guidance when it ca to Him. That's why they hadn't sent Mr. Devil any more letters after learning that Amon had infiltrated Mr. Devil's world.
"Things aren't as bad as they seem," Mr. Fool said. "From the Worm of Ti, I can tell that the Amon who has infiltrated your world is at best a Sequence 4. That's nearly not enough to take on Conformity and Singularity, should it co to that."
Luke couldn't sigh with relief from that info, though.
A Sequence 4 Beyonder was still a Demigod!
"But what's He doing in my world, Mr. Fool?" Luke asked. "Did He sense the connection between us, and…"
Mr. Fool tapped the table's edge, ruminating. "I have an idea why He's there," He said. "No. He must not have sensed the connection, but… the connection could have attracted Him in your world's direction in other ways."
"Will Amon try to jeopardize the goal of Mr. Devil's Organization in his world, Mr. Fool?" the Hanged Man asked. "He must know what Mr. Devil is trying to do now…"
All Tarot Club mbers shared an unnerved glance among themselves.
Even Mr. Devil didn't truly know how important the followers in his world were to Mr. Fool. They all were potential anchors. Safe anchors! With no other Sequence 0 vying for those followers, Mr. Fool's faith could truly gain a good footing in that world.
But Amon… might never let that happen.
He might even steal all Mr. Fool's followers for Himself, as He had already tried to do before.
All mbers, from Devil to Hanged Man and from Judgnt to Justice, looked toward the mysterious figure.
"Did you sense anything different after leaving the Hospital?" Mr. Fool asked Luke. "Anything that you felt out of the norm…"
Luke went through all his activities and observations of the last two days in only half a minute, but, ultimately, he could find nothing. "Other than the murmurs, nothing."
"Murmurs?" The Star asked suddenly, getting spooked like everyone. "What murmurs?"
"I thought Mr. Fool shared all my mories with you," Luke said, puzzled. "That's why I didn't bring it up right away. I don't generally hear murmurs while advancing. This ti, I did."
Then, Luke looked toward the seat of God, and asked, "… They kept repeating two words — Celestial Worthy… Celestial Worthy…"
And, with a loud gurgle, the entire Gray Castle shook, the gray fog churning from all around, becoming a dark tsunami!
