TL: GoldenLung
The fire dragon’s tightly coiled body suddenly stretched open. Its wings spread wide and slamd forward, whipping up a violent gale that fed the raging flas. Even with the suppression from the Dual Fire Qilin, the temperature inside the cavern skyrocketed in an instant. The surrounding rock walls began to lt, dripping downward like glowing magma.
The dragon’s eyes had turned into blazing gold-red lanterns.
At that mont, Lan ngqin moved. A wave of icy intent burst from her body. A veil of white light expanded outward, enveloping Lan Xuanyu and the other three, shielding them from the suffocating heat. At the sa ti, a blizzard erupted from her, swirling violently throughout the cave.
Her figure rose slowly into the air as her immaculate Two-Word Battle Armor flowed over her body. Even the exposed skin turned a crystalline white.
Martial Soul Avatar—Heavenly Snow Woman.
Lan ngqin possessed twin martial souls. Besides her Jade Phoenix Zither, she also carried the Heavenly Snow Woman.
Facing such a formidable foe, all three unleashed their Martial Soul Avatar without hesitation.
A deafening boom shook the cavern as the fire dragon slamd its right foreclaw onto the ground. The thunderous tremor felt as though it would collapse the entire cave. Charging toward it, the Heavenly Stems Qilin were all thrown aside. The protective red aura covering the dragon’s body was astonishingly strong—up to this mont, not one of the three had managed to break through its defenses.
Seeing its offspring on the brink of annihilation, the fire dragon went berserk. Its head dipped sharply, wings beating back as the red glow around it surged. Its colossal body turned translucent, as though completely forged from condensed fire elents.
It roared and charged straight toward Lan Xuanyu.
At that instant, the Ten Heavenly Stems Qilin rged into a single massive Qilin, its entire form shining with resplendent five-colored radiance, eting the fire dragon head-on.
In midair, Bai Xiuxiu hovered lightly. The ice spear in her hand shifted into a deep blue-violet hue, and behind her, the vague silhouette of a great deep-blue dragon flickered into existence. Her eighth soul ring burst with light as she hurled the spear.
With a soft puff, the spear exploded, transforming into a pitch-black vortex. Terrifying suction force erupted outward, yanking violently at the charging fire dragon.
Her eighth soul skill—Abyssal Devour. A wide-range, devastating power. It was her first ti ever using it.
Fire elents were torn from the air as they were sucked into the vortex. The fire dragon’s crimson glow dimd, and its massive body was dragged, slowed, restrained. Were it not for its imnse strength, the vortex would have consud it entirely in an instant.
This ability once belonged to the Abyssal Demon Dragon Queen. If she were the one using it, everything within a hundred-ter radius would collapse into an abyss from which no enemy could escape.
“Rraaahhhh!”
The fire dragon let out a frenzy of roars, struggling desperately, inching forward with imnse difficulty.
Lan ngqin flashed to Bai Xiuxiu’s side. Hand in hand, the two floated in the air, their silhouettes almost overlapping. ngqin raised her left hand—an ice sword of deep sapphire dropped from above. In an instant, it lengthened into a ten-ter giant blade.
Goddess of Ice and Snow—Frozen Blue Sword.
Years ago, the two had consud the Ice God Twin Lotus together, intertwining their bloodlines. Even after bonding with different Spirit Souls afterward, even after their bloodlines evolved, that connection had never been severed.
In their Goddess of Ice and Snow state, they could draw soul power from each other to fuel their next attack.
Both had activated their Martial Soul Avatar; their power was at its peak. With their soul power stacked together, the Frozen Blue Sword reached its utmost potency.
With a resounding crack, the ice sword shattered upon impact. But in that sa instant, the fire dragon’s body froze—literally. Frost crawled across its scales as it stiffened in place, stunned.
At the sa ti, Tang Yuge—transford into the grand Qilin—soared upward. Her eighth soul ring flared brilliantly as she extended her right claw. A streak of multicolored light shot forth, vanishing into the fire dragon’s forehead.
The fire dragon convulsed violently. A mont later, its roar tore the cavern apart, fire exploding outward and shattering all ice. Even the Abyssal Devour vortex was blown to pieces. But the dragon had lost its senses. It no longer charged toward Lan Xuanyu. Instead, it collapsed, thrashing wildly on the ground. Cracks split open everywhere as molten lava bubbled forth.
Bai Xiuxiu, Lan ngqin, and Tang Yuge regrouped quickly, retreating behind their teammates as layers of defense sprang up.
Bai Xiuxiu gave Tang Yuge a look of genuine astonishnt.
“That was my eighth soul skill—Heavenly Stem Divine Needle,” Tang Yuge explained. “The combined power of all Ten Heavenly Stems Qilin condensed into a needle. Single-point penetration. Once used, I need at least fifteen minutes before I can cast it again.”
It was no exaggeration—among Soul Douluo of the sa rank, Tang Yuge was near the pinnacle. Her Heavenly Stems Qilin martial soul was unparalleled in history.
With all ten forms unified in a single devastating strike, even a dragon would falter beneath such power.
Yet this fire dragon’s vitality was beyond imagination. Even with its brain pierced, it refused to die. It thrashed madly, the crimson light in its head flashing erratically—each pulse brighter than the last. A storm of terrifying energy surged outward, swelling to the point where it seed ready to explode.
“Not good—if its body detonates…” Lan ngqin’s expression paled.
Just then, Lan Xuanyu’s voice rang out.
“ngqin—heal the fire dragon!”
“…What?” Lan ngqin froze montarily, turning toward him. But Lan Xuanyu nodded sharply.
She didn’t hesitate further. Raising her hand, she cast a beam of green healing light directly onto the dragon’s head.
Green light seeped slowly into its skull. The dragon’s body twitched—its agony eased slightly—but monts later it resud thrashing.
The dragon race possessed extraordinary defense, yet even they could not withstand the Heavenly Stem Divine Needle piercing the brain. The explosion of ten Qilin energies within its skull would have killed any other creature outright. Were it not for its exceptionally resilient cranial bones absorbing most of the impact, it would have died instantly.
“Continue,” Lan Xuanyu urged, raising his voice.
Stream after stream of erald radiance fell from Lan ngqin’s hands, soothing the fire dragon repeatedly.
The mont its brain was pierced, the fire dragon had already realized its chances of survival were slim. In desperation, it gathered all remaining dragon power, intending to detonate itself and perish together with its enemies.
But when the healing light touched its skull, part of the trauma was nded. Its awareness cleared slightly. Instinctively, it halted the detonation. When the urge to explode returned, another wave of healing washed over it.
A creature wracked with unbearable pain, suddenly given a mont of relief, would inevitably experience a fleeting lapse in consciousness. And in that tiny mont of distraction, the fire dragon was unable to trigger self-destruction.
Seeing the fire dragon’s fluctuating glow stabilizing and destabilizing again, Tang Yuge couldn’t help feeling awe. Had she been in Lan Xuanyu’s shoes, she would never have thought of such a thod. She would have had no choice but to shield her teammates with her Martial Soul Avatar—protecting them even at the cost of her life. She was all the more grateful she had chosen to join this team long ago.
Just then, a dragon’s roar burst from Lan Xuanyu as he shot upward. Beneath him, the Interdiate fire dragon finally ceased struggling.
Qian Lei’s body shone with golden light that gradually faded—his tempering process had concluded.
Lan Xuanyu flashed above the fire dragon. Another resonant dragon cry rang out, and the dragon’s aura weakened visibly.
Its neural pathways had been ravaged by the Heavenly Stem Divine Needle, leaving it unable to properly control its body. Otherwise, it would have attacked long ago. The only thing it could barely manage was manipulation of fire-elental energy. But under the pressure of Lan Xuanyu’s dragon roar, even its bloodline power suppressed itself—leaving it unable to resist.
Lan Xuanyu’s hands moved. The Heavenly Sacred Abyssal Halberd plunged into the fire dragon’s back. A cold blue radiance spread along the halberd’s edge, tinting Lan Xuanyu’s entire figure azure. A golden-silver vortex shimred on his chest—and from it, a burst of seven-colored fla erupted, engulfing him entirely.
He sat cross-legged atop the dragon’s back. The seven-colored flas recoiled inward, pouring into his limbs and bones.
This battle had been fraught with peril, facing the assault of an Interdiate Dragon. But danger and opportunity often ca hand in hand. Lan Xuanyu could finally attempt a true Dragon Force Tempering, using the dragon’s full essence as nourishnt. For him, the Dragon Force of an Interdiate Dragon was an incomparable treasure—far surpassing any heavenly dicine or treasure.
Seven-colored flas roared around him. His chest was entirely covered in brilliant multicolored scales. Silver scales crept across the left side of his body, gold scales across the right. Even his face was half-silver, half-gold, as though wearing a dual-colored mask.
The flas burned on, spreading and surging. His entire body trembled violently. But having endured the pain of annihilation lightning tempering, his tolerance for agony had vastly increased—and his physique had grown far stronger.
Tempering was primarily the refinent of bloodlines. By igniting the Dragon God blood within him, Lan Xuanyu used the resulting flas to burn his flesh, forcing his body to adapt, accept, and rge the power. During this process, he attempted to fuse the Golden Dragon King and Silver Dragon King bloodlines as much as possible.
Tang Yuge spoke: “I’ll guard the entrance. You all stay here and protect him.”
The cavern could no longer withstand another battle. If not for the terrain suppressing the dragon earlier, killing it would have been significantly harder.
Bai Xiuxiu gazed at Lan Xuanyu—sitting cross-legged on the fire dragon’s back, gripping the Abyssal Halberd—her eyes full of anticipation.
What kind of transformation would true Dragon Force Tempering bring Xuanyu?
