Chapter 732: Chapter 731 Wen Si’s Gift

By the ti Wufu had sent Ping Caier out the door, she felt as if her face and limbs were stiff, and her throat was dry and itchy, creating an unbearable discomfort.

For most of the day, all she had done was listen to Ping Caier talk about various matters regarding the marriageable age gift ceremony for tomorrow, and practice the proper salutations. It was pure agony, far worse than a full day of weighted training.

"Quick, Jadeite, give

a massage. I’m utterly exhausted!" Wufu sprawled out on the beauty couch, wailing pathetically.

She had never imagined that a coming-of-age ceremony could be so involved. It was just too tiring.

"Afraid already, Miss? Your wedding will involve even more intricate and tedious rituals!" Jadeite chuckled but started pressing on various acupoints on Wufu’s body.

Wufu let out a comfortable sigh.

"That’s why I prefer the way we do things back ho." She said this with her eyes closed.

"Hmm?"

Wufu opened her eyes and asked, "But not everyone’s marriageable age ceremony is this troubleso, right?"

"Of course not." Purple Jade ca in with a plate of fresh cherries and explained, "The marriageable age gift ceremony is important for a girl, and those who can afford to make a big deal out of it naturally do so. But in a poor family, it’s often disregarded. Many simply use a bamboo stick or sothing similar to pin up their hair, bow to heaven and earth, and to their parents, and that’s it. Others might even skip this step altogether and are considered adults once they reach the appropriate age!"

Wufu raised an eyebrow, "So, I’ve basically dug my own grave here!" If it were the year before she ca here, the thought of a marriageable age ceremony wouldn’t have even crossed her mind. Madam Zhou would probably have found her a Silver Hairpin to tie up her hair, and that would be that.

Now, just thinking about the elaborate rituals set for the official day tomorrow made Wufu want to howl in dismay.

Jadeite and Purple Jade both laughed out loud. When it ca to disliking hassle, there was nobody who hated it more than their miss. Other girls would hope their own marriageable age ceremonies were as grand as possible because it represented honor and prestige.

Unfortunately, the person they served was anything but ordinary.

"Miss, would you like to see the congratulatory gift sent by Lord Wen?" Hongyu was organizing the gifts.

Over the past couple of days, aside from Ah Jiu and Lord Wen, people she had befriended last year at the gambling stone event had also sent gifts. Even Duan Rong and his wife, who had just recently pledged allegiance to her, brought over a bracelet. This was no ordinary bracelet though; it had a chanism that could hide hidden weapons.

"Bring it to , let

have a look," Wufu sat up.

Hongyu handed over the gift from Wen Congrui.

It was a box. Upon opening, inside was a set of calligraphy model books.

"Purple Jade, have a look." Wufu flipped through them casually.

Purple Jade took them and said, "Miss, this is a rare copy from the calligraphy master Liu Shi, and these are genuine works."

Wufu’s eyebrows raised, "In your view, how much are they worth?"

At the question, Purple Jade’s mouth twitched. She said reproachfully, "What kind of question is that, Miss? A rare copy from Master Liu is sought after but not readily found, especially genuine works. While selling them certainly brings in a lot of silver, the value of keeping them as collectibles is imasurable. These rare copies and ancient books have great value for collection and can be passed down through generations. To give them away is even more precious."

Wufu sheepishly replied, "I was just asking. Look at you, going on and on about it."

Purple Jade laughed teasingly, "I’m worried you might use it to prop up a table leg again." The last ti she found Wufu using an extrely valuable book to stabilize a wobbly desk, she nearly exploded with accusations of her squandering priceless possessions.

Wufu smiled wryly.

"Record it in the ledger for future inheritance." Knowing her master’s dislike for such things, Purple Jade took the initiative and carefully placed the precious books back in the box.
