Chapter 615: Chapter 614 Reap What You Sow

The cell was already gloomy and damp, and now, in the midst of a cold winter, it beca even more chilling. The floor was only covered with dry straw, and there were only two dirty and slly thin blankets that looked black and greasy, having not been washed for who knows how long.

In the winter days, the cell lacked expensive items like cotton quilts, and the only thing available to fend off the cold was a blanket sewn with reed catkins.

Moreover, who knew how many people had used these blankets? They were dirty and slly, and the reed catkins inside were clumped together, unevenly distributed, offering no warmth at all.

Madam Lu and Zhou Xuennian could no longer quarrel, the couple clung tightly to each other, clutching the filthy blanket over themselves, its terrible stench almost suffocating them.

But without covering themselves, they could only freeze.

Both of them were cold and hungry, shivering terribly, their faces pale with a ghastly hue, their teeth chattering nonstop.

“My lord, what should we do?” Madam Lu, who had just experienced a rat crawling over her foot, asked with a cry in her voice, “I can’t stand to stay in this hellish place for even one more day.”

Zhou Xuennian’s voice was deep and trembling as he replied, “Do you think I can stand it?”

Perhaps it was the New Year, and the Yan Runners were unusually lenient, sparing the prisoners from torture; otherwise, what would be heard now would likely be the miserable screams of the tortured convicts.

Despite this, there were still piercing screams coming from sowhere, frightening the two even more, shaking like sieves.

“That little bitch, how could she be so malicious,” Madam Lu cried.

Zhou Xuennian too wanted to know how that little whore had beco so vile. Had he known she would turn out this way, he would have killed that disgraceful creature long ago.

But it was too late now; the little puppy had grown into a wolfhound, powerful and untouchable.

As for their reputation?

Zhou Xuennian felt a crushing sense of defeat, having thought he could use their reputation to intimidate the mother and daughter, only to encounter Wufu, who played the ga by her own rules.

She didn’t care about reputation at all!

In her words, living such a comfortable and carefree life, what use was reputation?

If it were him, he would probably also follow the creed of ‘those who are with

prosper, those against

perish’!

Not receiving a reply from Zhou Xuennian, Madam Lu began to sob softly, her crying gradually growing louder.

“Stop crying, will you? It’s annoying!” Zhou Xuennian growled lowly.

“My lord, I want to go ho! I’m scared!” Madam Lu grabbed his hand and said, “I don’t even know how Yongyong and the others are doing. My lord, can we still get out? Will we die here? Boo hoo, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die!”

Zhou Xuennian was extrely irritable and began to panic.

He looked up at the tiny window in the cell, which was the size of a palm; that wasn’t really a window, more like a small hole, through which the darkness outside and the falling snow could be seen.

“If they wanted to put you in jail, couldn’t they find a pretext?”

For so reason, the words of his mother echoed in his mind, stabbing Zhou Xuennian with waves of panic and regret.

His mother had warned him, but he had not taken it seriously, thinking the wolf cub was still too small to stir up trouble. However, the wolf was far more ferocious and cunning than he had imagined.

She had ticulously plotted to detain them in this hellish place as a punishnt, indifferent to the fact that they were her Aunt and Uncle; was she not afraid of the judgnt from heaven? Afraid of being struck by lightning?

Last ti, Wufu had managed to get him out, and now that she had detained them, she would probably also find it easy, right? Could they survive the winter relying on just these thin blankets?

Would she deliberately have them killed and still have the righteousness on her side?

The thought struck Zhou Xuennian with a deep-seated fear, regretting for the first ti.

However, in this world, there are no pills for regret; one could only taste the bitter fruit of their own making.
