Chapter 584: Chapter 584 New Year’s Makeup
Wufu was awakened by a burst of firecracker noise, and as she opened her eyes, she saw the embroidered callia green canopy of her own room, not knowing from where the sound of fireworks was coming again.
“The fireworks keep sounding, but they are not as incessant as my thoughts of you!”
Suddenly, this phrase echoed in her head, and Wufu sat up.
Wasn’t she supposed to be on the carriage, why was she in her own room?
Footsteps were heard from outside, and Wufu looked over to see Purple Jade lifting the gauze curtain to enter, showing a smile upon seeing her awake, and bending her knee in a curtsy, “Miss is awake? This servant wishes Miss a Happy New Year, may you find peace and joy in abundance.”
“Happy New Year,” Wufu said, looking through the window to see that it had already gotten light and asked, “How did I co back?”
She clearly rembered going out last night and even spoke with that fellow Ah Jiu for a while.
Purple Jade pursed her lips in a smile and said, “Miss, you slept so deeply last night that this servant carried you back.”
Embarrassed, Wufu silently chided herself for being so relaxed and not the least bit vigilant. Had it been a dangerous situation, wouldn’t she have lost her life without even knowing how?
“Shall this servant assist Miss with washing up? Soon, the servants will co to pay New Year respects to Miss and Madam,” said Purple Jade.
Wufu nodded her head.
Purple Jade went out, and soon after, she returned with Jadeite and Hongyu, following one another, bringing hot water to help her cleanse her face. Hongyu held a silver-red dress and placed it on the bed, while Jadeite glanced at Wufu’s costic case and began selecting jewelry.
Once seated at the dressing table, Purple Jade took so fragrant balm, spread it evenly across Wufu’s face, and said, “Miss, it’s the first day of the New Year, why not put on so makeup to be festive?”
“Not too heavy,” Wufu responded.
“Understood.”
“Sister Zi Yu finally gets to utilize this skill of hers,” Jadeite, picking out jewelry, said with a secretive smile.
Wufu, sensing sothing in her words, asked with a laugh, “What do you an by that?”
“Miss does not know, but Sister Zi Yu’s makeup skills are top-notch. If she wants it thick, she can make it so you look like a completely different person; if light, it can be so subtle it seems like you’re not wearing any makeup at all,” Jadeite giggled. “Although Miss doesn’t like to wear makeup, Sister Zi Yu has even privately complained to us, she had never seen a young lady who does not like wearing makeup!”
While applying powder on Wufu’s face, Purple Jade chided with a smile, “You talk too much.”
Jadeite stuck out her tongue.
“I don’t like applying those things, but since Purple Jade has this skill, we should talk later about how to dress as a man,” Wufu’s eyes sparkled.
“Miss,” the girls all scolded in unison.
Wufu laughed, “It would be clever to use makeup to change one’s face. I don’t know if there are special thods that can keep the makeup intact, waterproof, and long-lasting. It would be more useful than a Human Skin Mask. After all, one inevitably finds gaps in a mask, but painted makeup stays on as long as it doesn’t wash off.”
Purple Jade and Jadeite looked at each other, then Jadeite said, “Miss, let
try to concoct a liquid that might hold the makeup.”
“Good, go ahead and try. If you need any herbs or dicinal powder, ask your Sister Zi Yu to give you Silver to buy them,” Wufu never stung on providing Silver to nurture her people’s ambition, after all, the benefits ca back to her.
As they spoke, Purple Jade had finished applying the makeup and then took an ivory comb to straighten her hair, styling it into a chic half-up, half-down hairdo, fixing the back with Jadeite’s matching jewelry.
Once the jewelry was set and the makeup done, Hongyu brought the clothes and socks, and the three of them surrounded Wufu, bustling to help her get dressed.
“Miss, truly beautiful,” Hongyu exclaid with a wink.
