Chapter 1469: Chapter 1407: Bosom Friends
Wufu and Ah Jiu went up to the private room on the second floor where Guan Chuying was waiting. Behind her stood a young man, who was her brother, Guan Chuliao.
"Wufu," Guan Chuying greeted her with a wide smile, holding Wufu’s hand, and said, "It’s really you. I thought I was seeing things."
"I didn’t expect you to be out either." Wufu noted that she seed energetic and her complexion was rosy, and she was willing to co out, suggesting she had moved on from that distressing engagent.
"My big brother brought
out, saying the lights today are beautiful. I didn’t expect to run into you." Guan Chuying laughed.
Wufu saw the gentle-looking Guan Chuliao and curtsied, addressing him as Big Brother Guan.
Guan Chuliao returned the greeting with a smile and ntioned a few polite remarks about how his mother was also thinking of her and inviting her to visit their ho soti.
"Who is this?" Guan Chuying asked curiously, her eyes filled with gossip, having noticed Wufu and the young man were quite close.
Wufu stepped aside, smiling as she introduced them.
"Young Master Jhin," Guan Chuying acknowledged the introduction, gave Ah Jiu a slight bow, and then looked away.
Ah Jiu, aware that Wufu had close girlfriends, recognized her as one and nodded, then cupped his hands and said to Guan Chuliao: "Since Miss Guan and Wufu are close friends, let’s not be formal. You can call
by my courtesy na, Zhongqian."
Guan Chuliao replied, "I have yet to co of age, but my father has given
the courtesy na Bohong, so Brother Zhongqian, you can call
by that na."
"Bohong, Lord Guan has high expectations for Young Master Guan." Ah Jiu smiled faintly, noticing Wufu and Guan Chuying had sat aside for a whispered conversation, and seeing a chessboard nearby, he said, "The ladies’ conversation is not for us to join. How about we play a ga, Bohong?"
"Why not? Brother Zhongqian, please!"
The two sat down, each holding a set of black and white pieces, and began their ga.
Guan Chuying glanced over and then said to Wufu, "Be honest, what is your relationship with this Young Master Jhin? Oh, I vaguely rember you ntioning soone you admired before—could it be him?"
Wufu openly admitted, "Yes, it’s him."
"But he seems unfamiliar, unlike anyone I’ve seen in Changan City."
Wufu pursed her lips and replied, "Hmm, he’s just gotten back, so he may seem unfamiliar to you." It wasn’t that she was unwilling to reveal Ah Jiu’s true identity to Guan Chuying, but since he was now in Nanyue ahead of the main group, the fewer who knew, the better.
"No wonder. I thought there was no such person in the city."
Wufu smiled, saying, "If I had known you were willing to co out, I’d have had soone call you to join us much earlier."
Guan Chuying sighed and said, "I didn’t originally want to co out. My mother noticed I was feeling down for so ti and worried I was still dwelling on past issues, so she asked my big brother to take
out to relax. I didn’t want her to worry, so I had to co out. Honestly, I’ve let it go; it’s fortunate nothing ca of it, or I’d be crying sowhere now!"
"It’s good you think that way. Such scoundrels aren’t worth ntioning."
"Yes, and what about you? How are things with that family?" Guan Chuying asked with concern, "If anything is troubling, just say so. I’ll help you if I can!"
"Don’t worry, you’ll find out soon enough." Wufu replied with a mysteriously playful smile. The matter between her and the Wu Family would inevitably spread, and by then, Guan Chuying wouldn’t be able to avoid hearing about it.
Seeing that Wufu didn’t want to elaborate, Guan Chuying dropped the topic, shifting instead to discussions about romance and marriages, but this ti the subject was Changping.
