Chapter 1245: Chapter 1243: The Choice Is Yours

Wufu stayed with Madam Zhou at the estate for three days. Ever since she had revealed everything on the first day at the estate, she had not ntioned anything more about the Wu Family to Madam Zhou, knowing that excessive talk would be counterproductive.

As July 7th was approaching, Wufu had promised Changping that even if she wouldn’t be a governnt official for her, she would attend her coming-of-age ceremony. Thus, she had to return to Changan City for the banquet, or else that little girl would nag her to death.

"Mother, I have a friend who’s reaching her age of marriage on July 7th. I’ve promised to celebrate it with her, so I need to go back to the city first. Can you stay at the estate for a while?" Wufu said.

Madam Zhou opened her mouth: "Wufu, I..."

Wufu sighed and sat down again, saying, "I’m not afraid to tell you, I don’t plan to return to the Wu Family."

Madam Zhou’s face turned pale, her lips trembling as she looked at her. What did this an? Was she severing ties with her?

"I don’t want to go back, and I believe the Wu Family isn’t intent on bringing

back either. As for you..." Wufu glanced at her stomach and said, "I know you want this child to be born with legitimacy, not as a child from concubinage. But, Mother, can you guarantee to protect this child? If he’s born into the Wu Family and included in their genealogy, the person he calls ’mother’ won’t be you."

Madam Zhou heard this, and her face turned even paler.

"A concubine is always a concubine. Even if he crawls out of your womb, he can only call you ’Aunt.’ The one he should honor as his mother is the legitimate mother. In the future, no matter his achievents, he must honor the legitimate mother as his principal. Should he gain status, it would be her who receives the honorary titles." Wufu said indifferently, "This is assuming Madam Wang is kind enough to let him grow up healthy and doesn’t oppress the plebeians. If she’s ruthless, she absolutely won’t allow the plebeians to thrive under her gaze!"

Madam Zhou’s abdon tightened, sensing a vague pang of pain and fear.

"Wufu, a child from concubinage..."

"It’s not pleasant to hear ’a child from concubinage,’ but ultimately it’s a life. If you break ties with Wu Lihong, this child would be born with your surna, calling you ’mother,’ and he can still pursue studies and gain rits." Wufu looked at her indifferently, "As long as you abandon Wu Lihong and regard him as dead, I will arrange everything!"

Madam Zhou’s throat let out a murmur, as though sothing was churning within.

"Mother, what’s the aim of being a woman? Isn’t it for support? You marry for companionship through hardships, but ultimately it’s a son you rely on. If you have a son to back you, why do you need that man?" Wufu pressed further, "With the child carrying your surna, you are his mother, you can arrange his marriage, have grandchildren, and eventually beco the Old Lady. But if he enters the Wu Family, once you birth him, he would have nothing to do with you anymore!"

Madam Zhou tightly clutched the hem of her clothes, staring at her in a daze.

"I’ve laid out all the advantages and disadvantages. The choice is yours to make. If you can’t part with the surna Wu, then follow my arrangents. I’ll have the governnt office formally docunt and marry you into the family. If you wish to abandon it, I assure you, wealth will be guaranteed for you and him." Wufu said calmly, "It’s all in your choice."

What she could do was respect her choice and do her best to arrange everything, thereby fulfilling her duty to the original owner of this body with utmost care and responsibility.

"I’ll co to visit you in a few days!" Wufu smiled, instructed Qiu Xiang and others to take good care of her, and stepped onto the carriage.

Madam Zhou remained silent, her heart trembling uncontrollably, watching as Wufu boarded the carriage and left, her eyes blurring with tears.
