The next few days passed in a blurry haze.

Light — no, Amanda now — barely left the cot. Every movent still felt wrong. Too light, too graceful, too fragile. Even lifting a wooden spoon required conscious effort to not drop it.

“You have to eat, child,” Elena said softly for the tenth ti that day, holding out another bowl of thin porridge. Her eyes were red from constant worry.

Amanda took the bowl without a word. The porridge was bland and slled of strange herbs, but she forced it down. Her new body needed fuel. That was all that mattered.

She still hadn’t spoken more than a few short phrases. She was terrified that if she opened her mouth too wide, her old deep voice would sohow break through and shatter this poor woman’s heart.

Elena smiled through her tears when she saw the empty bowl.

“Praise the gods… You’re getting stronger.”

Amanda only nodded.

Inside her head, the analytical part of Yamada Light was already working.

Social status: poor peasant girl. Physical condition: weak and malnourished after the fever. Current assets: almost nothing.

She looked down at her small, delicate hands and clenched them slowly.

Every ti she closed her eyes, she saw Mikasa’s smiling face. The white dress. The ring still hidden in the pocket of a jacket that no longer existed. Her mother’s proud tears on graduation day.

All of it was gone.

The grief hit in sharp, brutal waves, but each ti she forced it down. Crying wouldn’t bring any of it back. It would only make this fragile body weaker.

Yamada Light had never been the type to surrender.

If this world had thrown him into a girl’s body and taken everything from him, then fine. He would play by its rules.

Survive first. Understand the rules. Grow stronger. And then… figure out if there was any way back.

Or at least make sure this new life wasn’t completely aningless.

He looked toward the small window where warm sunlight stread in. Outside, the village continued its ordinary life, completely unaware that the girl they knew as Amanda was now soone else entirely.

Amanda exhaled slowly and whispered under her breath, so quietly that even Elena wouldn’t hear:

“…Alright then. Let’s begin.”
