A faint aroma of cheese and the sweet scent of roasted beef cubes wafted through the air, mingling with the rich fragrance of flowers in the room, weaving an invisible web of temptation.

The gray cat's nose twitched. She knew this was the mont Lanci was casually chatting about the Imperial Army God—a rare chance to glean so information about the War God. Plus, Violet had just finished a quarrel, and her mood wasn't exactly suitable for discussing pressing matters. Perhaps it was better to start with so trivialities.

However, Lanci didn't seem to have any intent to probe for details. He was simply chatting in a natural, unforced way, radiating an air of sincerity.

"You seem to notice aspects of things that are rather unusual... though you're absolutely right. Julius is full of flaws, but he's loyal and quite talented. He just looks like an idiot, that's all. Back when he was at the Imperial chanical College, he even scored higher in several subjects than the senior Fourth Military God Jade Throne Jasper. He's actually quite smart, you know."

Violet chuckled softly at Lanci's words.

The Fourth Military God Jade Throne Jasper, who graduated several years before Julius, was already recognized as a once-in-a-generation chanical genius in the Empire. Many believed her records would remain unbroken for a long ti. Yet only a few years later, Julius erged as a rising star in another field and eventually beca one of this generation's military gods too.

The large gray cat in Lanci's hands appeared reluctant, seemingly puzzled by the sudden act of being fed.

It tilted its head slightly, letting out a low whimper in its throat, hesitating whether to accept this gesture of goodwill.

"It's impressive to master Imperial chanics."

Lanci said with a hint of surprise.

He had learned under Professor Bolao and understood just how challenging the [chanical] attribute was to grasp. He himself could never manage it.

"You're not very skilled at it? But you're an expert in Magical Engineering."

"Each has their forte and focus. chanics isn't my strong suit; my primary research is in energy. I can't accomplish anything on my own—it requires everyone's collaboration."

While chatting with Violet, Lanci remained undiscouraged, patiently awaiting the mont when the gray cat would accept the treat in his hand.

His free hand gently stroked the cat's back, his palm conveying a soothing warmth that cald its nerves.

"No wonder Duke Dex holds you in such high regard. Is this your perspective on personal achievents?"

"Achievents themselves are aningless; it's what they can contribute to future generations that matters."

Under Lanci's tender strokes, the gray cat's tense body gradually relaxed, its breathing steadied, and its golden eyes narrowed slightly as the lingering aroma of the treat teased its nose.

It sensed that Violet seed to glance at it occasionally, curious about why the cat wasn't eating the treat.

This prolonged attention from Violet was starting to feel a bit problematic.

Finally, it cautiously extended its soft pink tongue, tentatively licking the treat on Lanci's fingertips. The glaze-roasted at and cheese burst forth in its mouth, and the large gray cat found solace it hadn't felt in a while, eagerly biting the treat and chewing noisily.

If you're playing the role of a cat, you might as well convince yourself that you are a cat, and stop overthinking everything!

Talia told herself.

"Although what you said does make feel like seeing more of Julius's positive side and being less annoyed with him, when I think about it carefully, I feel like the recent rumors around campus might have gained a bit more credibility. Professor Landry, you really know how to handle interpersonal and public relations."

Violet remarked.

She had previously wondered if the cat disliked this kind of treat, but it seed that it actually loved it.

"Please don't overpraise , Headmaster Violet."

Lanci shook his head repeatedly.

The rumors he'd heard today were outrageous. The speed at which their versions evolved had already exceeded his imagination, but surely, it must stop sowhere.

Familiar with the act of feeding the cat in his hand, he continued to softly stroke its lush fur, his fingertips slowly running along its neck, back, and abdon, eliciting a gentle purring sound from the cat.

"In the end, it's still thanks to your good temperant, which seems like this kind of commotion wasn't the first of its kind."

Lanci said to Violet.

Listening to Violet talk about the Tenth Army God Julius gave off a feeling akin to a mother comforting her child.

"Professor Landry, are you thinking sothing impolite right now?"

Violet stared at Landry, as if she had glimpsed his inner thoughts, and asked.

However, she didn't seem particularly bothered. She rely thought that he wasn't entirely the warm and honest person he appeared to be—sotis, he could think of things that made people both amused and annoyed.

"Not at all. I was just thinking that the Wolf Clan really does have great personalities. Thank you for always looking out for my sister Elsa; she's a kind-hearted child."

Lanci ant it sincerely, so he voiced it honestly.

"Really? It's easy to get complints from you without realizing it. But I do feel your unique sense of affinity—people just can't seem to dislike you. Especially animals—they naturally get close to you without any defenses. Perhaps it's because you acknowledge the soul in all living things and wouldn't harm them from the bottom of your heart. They, guided more by instinct than humans, are willing to let down their guard and treat you as a friend."

Violet said softly, her gaze settling on the gray cat with its beautiful fur, nestled in the professor's arms.

The large gray cat let go entirely, surrendering itself to the long-lost comfort, emitting soft sounds of contentnt.

Under the young man's unconscious strokes, the gray cat felt an unprecedented sense of relaxation and fulfillnt.

The feline idly closed its eyes, ntally tuning out as it lazily adjusted its posture, lying on his lap and proactively angling herself so his hand could easily reach the spots that felt the most satisfying.

It looked completely different from its deanor when it first entered the room.
