Screech…

This was Jiang Wenxin's fourth ti slamming on the brakes today. Doudou, sitting in the passenger seat, slamd her head right into the Glove Compartnt.

The Seat Belt fastened around her was completely useless.

Her little short legs struggled for a mont before she pulled her head out of the Glove Compartnt and said goofily, "Mom, I'm still okay.

I'm so tough."

Seeing her Daughter's adorable appearance, Jiang Wenxin's eyes grew a little misty.

The first ti she had braked so suddenly, she had been terrified. It was only after Doudou's comforting that she rembered—Doudou wasn't alive.

Bumping into the center console had no effect on her at all.

The reason she kept braking was because "people" were suddenly dashing out from the roadside, and her conditioned reflex was to slam on the brakes.

The first ti, she hadn't realized the other party wasn't human. She wanted to argue with them, but then she thought of Doudou and felt she shouldn't waste ti on such trivial matters.

But unexpectedly, the other party seed to notice her gaze and stuck half its body directly through the Windshield, scaring Jiang Wenxin into a cold sweat. Only then did she realize that, just like Doudou, it wasn't human.

Fortunately, Doudou, in her fiercely cute way, "roared" directly at the person.

"This is my Mom's Car, you're not allowed to get in."

Her little display first startled the other party, who then probably got angry and glared at Doudou, making her flinch and shrink back instinctively.

Seeing this, Jiang Wenxin was no longer afraid. A surge of anger flared up, and she yelled directly at the figure, "Get out."

The Ghost then seed to have received a fright and scrambled to flee from the Car.

What Jiang Wenxin didn't know was that in the instant she got angry, her Body Three Fires had flared a foot high, burning intensely, which was what scared the other party away.

After this happened a few more tis, she discovered that as long as she didn't make eye contact with them, these ghosts would ignore her existence.

So, after braking just now, she imdiately shifted her gaze to the passenger seat once she collected herself.

Sure enough, the Ghost that had been crossing the road glanced at her Car and then turned and left.

"F*ck, how are you driving…"

Just then, the car behind her overtook her, rolled down the window, and started cursing at her.

But upon seeing Jiang Wenxin's face, his voice subconsciously weakened a little.

"Sorry, sorry…"

Jiang Wenxin knew she was at fault, so she quickly apologized and restarted the Car.

"Mom, he was scolding you," Doudou said, a little angry.

"Scolding people is wrong, but it was Mom's fault. Mom shouldn't have braked so suddenly; it could cause an accident," Jiang Wenxin patiently explained.

"Then why did you brake so suddenly?" Doudou asked, confused.

"Because Mom was afraid of hitting soone," Jiang Wenxin said.

She could no longer tell who was a person and who was a Ghost, so her only choice was to brake. Otherwise, if she made a mistake and really hit soone, it would be a huge problem.

For the rest of the journey, Jiang Wenxin drove cautiously. She finally reached her Residential Complex and parked the Car, letting out a long sigh of relief.

She unbuckled her Seat Belt and glanced instinctively at the passenger seat, only to find that Doudou had already gotten out of the car herself and was standing by the roadside waiting for her.

She hurriedly got out, wanting to tell her not to run around, but the words died on her lips.

She held out her hand and said, "Let's go, we're going Ho."

"Mmm~"

Doudou happily placed her little hand in her Mom's palm.

Then she skipped along after her Mom, heading ho.

Watching the lively, bouncing Doudou, Jiang Wenxin was in a daze for a mont, as if Doudou had never left.

'If only I could keep Doudou by my side forever,' Jiang Wenxin thought to herself.

No, Doudou had always been here; she just couldn't see or touch her.

As long as she could always see and touch her like this, Doudou would still be her Doudou.

Lost in these thoughts, she arrived at the elevators without realizing it.

Doudou had basically been pulling her along the whole way. The Little One was already very familiar with her own ho.

These past two years of "alone" life, with no one to hold her hand, no one to hug her…

She had cried, she had felt wronged, but in the end, she could only learn to do things by herself…

But the mont the Elevator opened, Jiang Wenxin was startled again.

Because standing in the Elevator was an old man leaning on a Walking Stick.

The old man's face was covered in thumb-sized Fleshy Tumors, looking extrely nauseating.

Because his face was covered with these Fleshy Tumors, his eyes were squeezed into narrow slits that emitted a chilling light.

He first glanced at Jiang Wenxin, then his gaze fell on their joined hands.

"You can see ghosts?"

The old man's voice was hoarse and extrely unsettling.

Then he asked in return, "How can you suddenly see us?"

"Grandpa Lu."

Doudou called out sensibly, clearly recognizing him.

Jiang Wenxin hid Doudou behind her. Seeing the elevator doors about to close, Jiang Wenxin had no intention of getting in, so the old man walked out with his Walking Stick.

Seeing this, Jiang Wenxin pulled Doudou back a few steps, watching him warily. He looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn't recall where she had seen him.

"Doudou's mom, I an no harm. I'm just curious, how can you suddenly see us?" the old man asked, a bit curious.

His gaze, however, was fixed on Jiang Wenxin's shoulder.

Jiang Wenxin didn't speak.

Instead, Doudou peeked her little head out from behind her mom.

Just then, a few more people walked over to wait for the elevator, and Jiang Wenxin couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

At that mont, the other elevator arrived, and Jiang Wenxin hurriedly followed the others inside.

The old man didn't follow them in.

He just squinted, watching Jiang Wenxin with a smile. But with his face full of Fleshy Tumors, the expression looked exceptionally sinister.

It wasn't until the elevator doors closed, blocking his view, that Jiang Wenxin finally exhaled, though her heart was still pounding.

She looked down at the little cutie hugging her leg and hiding behind her, reaching out to gently stroke her little head.

After opening her apartnt door, Jiang Wenxin subconsciously glanced behind her. Seeing the old man hadn't followed, she quickly pulled her Daughter into the apartnt.

Once inside, Doudou imdiately started looking around, then asked in confusion, "Hasn't Dad co back?"

"Your Dad has sothing to do tonight, he'll be back a little later."

"Oh~"

Doudou sounded a little disappointed.

She thought she would be able to see her Dad as soon as she got ho.

Jiang Wenxin then asked impatiently, "Doudou, did you know that old man just now?"

Doudou nodded, then said with so confusion, "He's Brother Zixu's grandpa.

Don't you know him, Mom?"

"Brother Zixu?" Jiang Wenxin had a mont of realization.

The Brother Zixu Doudou ntioned was a little boy who lived upstairs, nad Lu Zixu.

He was two years older than Doudou, and since they lived in the sa Residential Complex, they often played together.

Lu Zixu had always been raised by his grandparents, but his grandfather had passed away a long ti ago, a year even before Doudou's accident.

But in her mory, Lu Zixu's grandfather was a kind-faced old man who would always greet her cheerfully whenever they t, nothing like the sinister figure from just now.

"But I rember him not looking like that."

"Grandpa Lu said he's sick," Doudou said.

Doudou was too naive; she believed whatever anyone told her. That was clearly a lie.

He was already dead and had beco a Ghost, so how could he get sick? A ghost sickness?

It seed this matter wasn't so simple. Thinking of this, she walked to the door and looked outside through the Peephole.

Then she was so shocked that she stumbled back, almost falling to the floor.
