Chapter 11: Panic

When Lu Feng groggily woke up, the first thing he slled was the scent of grass.

He imdiately crawled up from the ground, his eyes widening as he looked around.

In front of him stood a huge old mansion.

From the outside, the house looked dilapidated.

The walls had peeled so much that the bricks beneath were already exposed, and weeds grew all over the roof.

The entire mansion was covered by creeping plants like ivy, wrapping it layer upon layer like a spider’s web.

Just by its exterior, one could sense the long, worn years it had endured.

Lu Feng and the rest of his classmates were sprawled across the lawn in front of the mansion, scattered in all directions like dozens of dried fish laid out in the sun.

The sky remained a hazy gray, so dim it seed as if water could be wrung from it.

The mansion was encircled by a ring of iron fences, and beyond those fences lay a dense fog that seed almost tangible.

From the looks of it, their range of activity was confined to this mansion alone.

Lu Feng was the first to awaken, and after him, the others gradually stirred awake one by one.

Faced with the scene before him, Lu Feng was astonished, but the initial panic he once had was already gone.

He walked alone to the front door of the mansion, raising his head to look at the carvings on the heavy door.

Worn down by ti, the patterns were no longer exquisite, but it was still not hard to imagine the splendor this manor once held.

It was called Adros Manor, wasn’t it?

Lu Feng recalled the low whisper in his mind, like a narration, right before he had lost consciousness.

It seed to have explained the background of this old mansion.

It really was like a ga…

A haunted manor with a complete backstory, and the thirty-seven students of their class had co here as travelers, all for the sake of uncovering the manor’s secrets… This kind of storyline was exactly like the progression of a horror ga.

By this ti, everyone in the class had awakened.

They all gathered in front of the mansion, each with different expressions, all raising their heads to gaze at the palace-like residence.

“Is this… the ga that doll was talking about?”

“It should be… Otherwise, how else would we have ended up here?”

“What on earth is this place! And that talking doll—what was that thing!?”

The crowd began talking all at once.

Everyone was utterly baffled by the current situation, caught between confusion and fear.

“Alright, alright, everyone quiet down…”

The class monitor Zhang Tong raised his voice again, hoping to calm the commotion with the authority he had built up in the past.

However, this ti, his words had no effect at all.

“What exactly is going on today? Can we even go back?”

“This so-called ghost-catching ga feels really terrifying… Looks like people are going to die?”

“The ghost from the ga… it couldn’t possibly be inside this creepy old mansion, right!?”

The mood of panic began to spread.

The fear of the unknown had beco impossible to suppress.

Everyone voiced their unease, yet this only made the chaos grow worse.

“This is so scary… I want to go ho…”

“What is happening… Why did sothing like this have to happen to …”

“I don’t want to play any stupid ga… I want to go ho… I want to go ho!”

Several of the more timid girls in class couldn’t help but break into sobs.

They had already experienced far too many incomprehensible things today, pushing them to the limits of what they could bear.

The situation before them had completely spiraled out of control.

Zhang Tong stared blankly at the chaotic scene, utterly at a loss.

In truth, Zhang Tong himself was terrified.

Who wouldn’t be after encountering so many bizarre and eerie events in just one day?

But he had always believed that, as class monitor, he was duty-bound to lead everyone in tis of difficulty.

Thus, he had suppressed his own fear.

Yet in the end, he was just an ordinary person.

Now infected by the panic spreading among the group, Zhang Tong finally fell into fear himself.

Lu Feng quietly observed everything before him.

He still remained rational, but even his breathing had beco quick and shallow.

Humans were easily influenced by collective emotions.

For example, when many people watched a tear-jerking movie together, once one person started crying, more and more would follow.

Just like Lu Feng at this mont.

Although he was still able to keep his reason, the collective mood amplified his fear greatly.

He took a few deep breaths, barely steadying his mind.

Then he pulled over the terrified Yu Mo and the dazed, helpless Lin You, leading them as far away from the crowd as possible—of course, Liuli ca along as well.

Compared to the others, Liuli was astonishingly calm at this mont.

Lu Feng couldn’t help but admire her inwardly.

As expected of soone who had once been a ghost, her ntal fortitude was remarkable.

The four of them ran all the way to a corner of the manor far from the crowd, where the unsettling noise finally disappeared completely.

Once separated from the rest, the group collapsed onto the ground almost in unison.

None of their faces looked good, except Liuli, whose condition seed perfectly normal.

“That was way too scary… If I stayed any longer, I’d probably have broken down right on the spot!”

Lin You said with lingering fear.

“Things are already terrifying enough as they are, but with them panicking like that, I got even more frightened…”

As he spoke, he cast a grateful look at Lu Feng.

Yu Mo also nodded, the pallor on her face finally regaining a hint of color.

And once the two of them had cald down, the first thing they did was cast their gaze toward the only stranger among them.

In their eyes was a faint trace of distrust.

Seeing this, Lu Feng quickly explained,

“Her na is Liuli. She’s a student from our school, but not in our class. I… just happened to know her a little.”

Lu Feng instinctively concealed Liuli’s true identity.

After all, if he told them who she had been before, it would only cause even more panic.

Yu Mo and Lin You nodded doubtfully.

“That really is strange. The announcent clearly said Grade 3 Class 2 was all present. So how could there be soone from another class here?”

Lin You asked in confusion.

“Who knows. In this situation, nothing strange would surprise anymore.”

Lu Feng lied without the slightest change in expression.

“True enough… At this point, even if a corpse ca back to life right in front of , I don’t think I’d be that shocked…”

Lin You said with a bitter smile.

Just then, Yu Mo’s voice sounded,

“Um… Xiao Feng, you said before that we’ve completely disappeared from the outside world. That ans… my dad…”

The girl’s face looked rather unpleasant.

Lu Feng couldn’t bear to tell her the truth, but with her intelligence, she had clearly already guessed the answer.

“…Your dad doesn’t rember having a daughter.”

Lu Feng said softly.

Hearing the expected answer, Yu Mo’s eyes went blank.

She lowered her head in silence for a mont, then forced a faint smile and whispered,

“It’s okay. As long as we return to the real world, everything will go back to normal.”

“Mm. We will. We’ll definitely go back…”

Lu Feng gently patted Yu Mo’s head, though he wasn’t sure whether he was comforting her—or himself.
