The promise of the past life made, the Taoist Ancestor’s mood brightened considerably. He stood up and walked step by step into the distance, as if asuring this space.

But after a few steps, he disappeared. The rules of this place were peculiar.

The Netherworld King slowly opened her tightly closed eyes and took a step forward, her delicate hand resting on Su He’s corpse.

Her Tao cultivation could not compare to her teacher’s. With the teacher absent, she had to protect this corpse herself.

The past life tilted its head, watching her.

A strange expression flickered in the Netherworld King’s eyes. In the outside world, who would dare look at her like this? Not to ntion her identity as the Netherworld King, just the aura forged from eons of killing would make ordinary people dare not approach.

A spirit soul from outside the domain, with inherent traits?

Origin...

Could it be that one day it might grow as powerful as the teacher?

Surely not!

The Yuan is also an origin, but it pales in comparison to the teacher!

However, even if it could grow to the level of Yuan, it would be enough to suppress all eternity.

The Netherworld King looked at Su He, a trace of doubt rising in her heart.

"Young man, are you not afraid to involve yourself in such an event?"

That was Yuan! Even if their senior brothers encountered it, they would undoubtedly perish. To place oneself as a mortal in such a war, the hardships could well be imagined.

Su He blinked and said as a matter of course: "Afraid!"

The Netherworld King: "..."

Su He rendered the Netherworld King speechless for a mont, not knowing how to respond.

Su He sighed: "Such a big matter and you have a re mortal like involved. Why don’t you send a few wives as a reward? Not many, just three will do!"

"... Fine!" The Netherworld King took a deep breath.

Indeed, all n are greedy, even amidst such a major event. Just like the eldest senior brother, who unifies all worlds and stands at the forefront against Yuan, yet does not forget to take wives and concubines.

Squeak!

A wooden door opened before the two, and the Taoist Ancestor entered with a laugh: "Wonderful! Wonderful! The rules of this place are truly ingenious!"

As he spoke, he glanced down at the Netherworld King and Su He: "It seems you two are having a good conversation."

The Netherworld King slightly shook her head and did not speak.

Su He, feeling sowhat embarrassed, twisted nervously.

The Taoist Ancestor laughed: "I have found a way out. Girl, I’ll take him out, and you can comprehend this place on your own. If you can leave by yourself, what you gain will be significant! I give you ten thousand years, and if you can’t co out, I’ll co back for you."

The Netherworld King glanced at the Taoist Ancestor: "A thousand years!"

The Taoist Ancestor laughed more heartily, wrapped in his sleeve the corpse of the past life, and walked out, disappearing with a single step.

Su He’s consciousness left with the Taoist Ancestor and the past life. Yet, he could not see where the two were, only their voices transmitted.

"Hey... are you really powerful?" It was the cautious voice of the past life.

The Taoist Ancestor’s laughter echoed, tone flat but as apparent as dawn, even a dog could hear his pride: "From ancient to modern, across the four extres of the universe, I haven’t encountered an opponent worthy of a match!"

"If I unleash my prowess, even against Yuan, I am confident to slay in three moves!"

"Hiss..." The past life sucked in a cool breath, then shalessly asked: "Old man, are you lacking disciples?"

"Not lacking!"

"Hiss... then you’re not keeping your word!"

"How am I not keeping my word?"

"You promised after my reincarnation to grant the highest legacy. If you don’t accept disciples, where do I get the highest legacy? Or are you saying there’s soone more powerful than you?"

The Taoist Ancestor was montarily tongue-tied.

"Accept one then?" The past life had no sha left, making Su He blush for him.

After a long pause, the Taoist Ancestor sighed: "Accepting you as a disciple isn’t impossible! But there’s no benefit to ! I’ve taught enough disciples, and have already shown the world my capability in teaching!"

"Your disciples... are very powerful?" The past life queried in confusion.

The Taoist Ancestor’s tone carried a hint of pride: "My eldest disciple opened the Heavenly Court, unifying all worlds, is the lord of Mystery Yellow, the current Tian Emperor! My second disciple you’ve seen, opened the Netherworld, suppressing the myriad ghosts, is the present Netherworld King. Although my third disciple didn’t create worlds, he inherited my mantle, propagated the Tao to all heavens, and is revered as the Tao Master. Do you think I’m not impressive?"

Even without seeing a shadow, one could imagine the Taoist Ancestor’s proud deanor, faintly accompanied by a toad’s clicking tongue.

"Tch, tch, tch!" The past life’s provoking voice rang out: "Then let ask, if the Tian Emperor, Netherworld King, and Tao Master were not your disciples, would their achievents be significantly lacking?"

The Taoist Ancestor pondered montarily before answering: "Not necessarily, given their talents, they would reach such heights eventually."

"Clap!"

A sound of clapping resonated: "So that’s right! They already had such talents, and once you taught them, their achievents remained unchanged, how does this prove your ability to teach? I’m different, I’m a waste! If you take as an apprentice, and one day I reach such heights, then that would be sothing to boast about!"

Being able to sell a precious jewel at a high price is not a skill, transforming mud into gold, that shows true talent!

The Taoist Ancestor was silent, seemingly unsure of how to refute for a mont.

"Hiss... makes so sense... but among all living creatures under the heavens, there are others less talented than you, why specifically accept you?"

"You promised !" The past life exclaid.

"When?"

"The highest legacy!" The past life insisted matter-of-factly.

The Taoist Ancestor fell silent again, only speaking after a while: "Very well then! It’s not impossible to take you in..."

Imdiately followed the past life’s earth-shaking laughter.

"Once a promise is made, it’s hard to withdraw! As if afraid the Taoist Ancestor would regret."

The Taoist Ancestor snorted twice: "Once I have spoken, it becos witnessed by all heavens, there is naturally no possibility of going back on my word!"

The past life chuckled, a smug look of a petty man achieving his dream: "Aren’t you afraid of making a loss? I might be an unsalvageable piece of rotten wood?"

The Taoist Ancestor laughed heartily: "Not afraid, not afraid! I’ve seen it!"

"Seen what?"

"Seeing you, in the next life, ascend straight to the Nine Heavens!"

Just as the Taoist Ancestor spoke these words, Su He suddenly felt as if soone was watching him. Looking around blankly, he still couldn’t see the Taoist Ancestor and the past life’s presence, but their voices continued to reach him.

"Eh? You can look across ti to see other eras?"
