As it turns out, July Quinn wasn’t bothered by the rumors at all.
When Roman Kidd asked her out, she was in a pretty good state.
"This restaurant looks nice, just not sure if they have unlimited instant noodles."
July Quinn had just finished seeing patients at the clinic until late, and her stomach was really hungry.
She initially wanted to ask Kyle Keaton to dinner, but he called first to tell her he had to work overti today.
So when Roman Kidd invited her, she happened to be fretting over what to eat for dinner, resolving her imdiate concern.
"I knew you liked them, so I specifically had soone prepare them for you."
As soon as Roman Kidd finished speaking, an elderly lady approached with several flavors of instant noodles.
"Roman, I got the noodles for you."
"Thanks, Auntie Ruby."
Listening to their conversation, July Quinn could tell they were old acquaintances.
"This girl is really pretty, is sothing good happening between you two?"
"Auntie Ruby, she’s just a friend of mine."
"If she’s just a friend, would you bring her here?"
Roman Kidd quickly glanced at July Quinn.
Actually, he was curious to see if July Quinn would have any particular thoughts upon hearing Auntie Ruby’s words.
But the result left him a bit deflated.
At this mont, July Quinn had already opened a pack of instant noodles and was munching on them with great interest, totally oblivious to what they were saying.
Perhaps Auntie Ruby also noticed that July Quinn was out of the loop, and seeing Roman Kidd’s cautious yet utterly disappointed deanor, she began to play the role of atmosphere creator again.
"Young lady, do you like eating instant noodles?"
"Yeah, I’ve never had anything more delicious than this."
"Our Roman likes them too."
Auntie Ruby also looked at Roman Kidd, "Roman, you finally found a kindred spirit."
Of course, Roman Kidd knew Auntie Ruby was trying to be a helpful wingman.
"Auntie Ruby, please, go about your business. I’ll handle things here."
July Quinn is different from other girls; if you’re overly enthusiastic, it might push her away.
The key issue is that July Quinn is still with Kyle Keaton right now.
Auntie Ruby and Kyle Keaton also have interactions.
Auntie Ruby guessed that Roman Kidd was cautious, so after greeting July Quinn again, she headed to the kitchen.
"You know the owner well?"
"Yeah, she’s a distant relative. Two years ago, after her husband passed away, she opened a private kitchen because she was bored."
"Doesn’t she have any children?"
"She can’t have children, and the couple didn’t want to adopt."
"Their relationship seems pretty good though."
"When they were young, others didn’t really think highly of them, but no one expected they’d last the longest."
"Why didn’t people think highly of them? She seems like a very open-minded person."
July Quinn is actually pretty accurate in judging people.
"Yes, very open-minded, but she wasn’t from a good background, just an illegitimate daughter from an influential family."
"In your eyes, illegitimate daughters aren’t as good as others?"
Roman Kidd wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but July Quinn’s tone and deanor noticeably cooled at these words.
"It’s not that they’re not as good; it’s just that if you want to marry into so high-status family, the rumors multiply."
After listening, July Quinn’s expression grew considerably dimr.
Roman Kidd caught that montary change, asking, "Did I say sothing wrong?"
"No, it’s nothing."
After that, July Quinn barely spoke during the rest of the al.
While Roman Kidd was caught up in wondering exactly what he’d said wrong to cause July’s sudden mood drop, a phone call ca in.
"Sir, there’s been another massive scoop about President Donovan."
"What scoop?"
"Yvonne is not a biological child!"
