"But wouldn’t it be easier to just kill him? You and Grandma could relax for a while, and she could enjoy turkey every day."

Susan Carter teased as she continued to argue with July Quinn.

Yet July replied earnestly, "Both Grandma and I agree that killing is sinful, illegal, and sends you to hell. So, we decided to take a civilized approach to bring down The Marsden Family."

With his son being held hostage, Joseph was forced to listen to their conversation about how they planned to deal with his family, utterly furious.

Sinful and illegal, leading to hell?

If she really feared those things, then how does she explain the bodyguards lying around?

And, bringing down The Marsden Family in a civilized way, isn’t that a bit arrogant?

If Jennings’s life wasn’t in their hands, Joseph would have given these two a stern reprimand.

But Jennings was in their grip, his only son at over fifty...

Joseph could only swallow his anger.

Perhaps what July Quinn said was hard to believe because even Susan Carter chid in with sarcasm:

"Tsk tsk tsk, speaking as if you’ve never killed anyone. I rember how my brothers were wiped out like fallen leaves by you, leaving none behind."

To Susan, all this sinful, illegal, hell-talking was nothing but July’s excuse.

She probably just didn’t want her mother to know her hands were stained with blood.

Naturally, July didn’t like being ridiculed and shot Susan a cold glance, "You got a problem?"

He quickly forced a laugh, "No, no, how could I have a problem?"

His expression clearly said, if you have a problem, I can send you to chat with God.

Right now, Susan had no desire to et God, so he had to stifle his objections.

He was surprised to find the fearless July Quinn had sothing she feared.

Interesting!

And certain information inadvertently leaked through their conversation, causing Joseph and his son to exchange a glance.

Yes, they both heard Susan inadvertently ntion that his brothers were wiped out by July.

But how does that make sense?

Considering the Alpha rcenary Corps were fearless daredevils in rainstorms of bullets, how could they all die at the hands of July Quinn, just a young girl?

It must be impossible, right?

Perhaps it was just an act coordinated by July and Susan to scare them?

But rembering how July effortlessly handled a crowd of bodyguards earlier, they both felt uncertain.

Just then, July suddenly spoke, "Put away the knives, let them clean up the site. We should head back for dinner; my mom said we’re having stir-fried crab with rice cakes."

"Stir-fried crab with rice cakes? Is it good?" Susan, not currently in a rain of bullets, was quite interested in cuisine.

Hearing about a dish he’d never seen before, he cheerfully sheathed the knife from Jennings’s neck and gave him a shove toward Joseph.

"It should be good, I haven’t tried it."

"What are we waiting for then? Let’s head back."

Without another glance at Joseph and his son, they left while discussing food.

Once they left, a group quickly entered the club.

At first, Jennings and Joseph were worried they might plan to harm them.

But those people didn’t even acknowledge them, instead expertly carrying off the bodies of the bodyguards and mopping the floor...

Until that group left, the room returned to its prior state, as if nothing had happened.
