"Why is he in such a rush? Is Joseph going to marry him?"
Laura Quinn actually knew that July Quinn had been in touch with Richard Donovan recently, and perhaps he had a hand in their recent plans against The Marsden Family.
But to Laura, he was always a thorn in her side.
Every ti she thought of it, that thorn made her feel raw and bloody.
July Quinn was sure that whenever Laura ntioned Richard, it definitely wouldn’t be in a good way. If it were her who had been wronged for so many years, she might have even dug up The Donovan Family’s ancestors’ graves.
Yet Richard is still her father, and during this ti, she also saw his various ways of repenting and all he did to atone for his sins.
So, she wanted to give him a hand.
"Mom, Dad wants to see you."
"He wants to see , so I’ll see him? I’m not so hostess."
Laura had once hoped that one day Richard Donovan would realize all that had happened and perhaps kneel in front of her and repent for his past mistakes.
And she had fantasized about pulling his hair when he knelt, scratching his face until it was unrecognizable, and then having him thrown out harshly.
But those hopes seed to have gradually dissipated over the long years gone by.
Now, she couldn’t seem to rember what there was to say or do if she and Richard were to et again.
So, it was better not to et at all.
"Mom, he probably didn’t betray you. During my ti at The Donovan Family, I heard from the housekeeper that after he married that woman, they always slept in separate rooms, besides..."
Furthermore, Yvonne Donovan, who was pregnant before marriage, wasn’t even Richard’s biological child; it was likely just a misunderstanding back then.
But before July could finish, Laura interrupted her.
"Baby, even if it was just a misunderstanding, it happened twenty years ago. People must move forward; there’s no need to keep looking back at past scenery."
Hearing this, July fell silent too.
Yes, to others, it might have just been a misunderstanding between Laura and Richard.
But even a misunderstanding had truly forced Laura to face unmarried motherhood and live in constant fear at Marsden Estate for twenty years.
To Laura, the hurt had been done.
No matter how much one tried to nd it, the gap in her heart could never disappear.
However, Laura knew that Richard Donovan would still try every ans to see her through July.
She understood July’s dilemmas, so after pausing for a mont, she suddenly looked up at July.
"Baby, if he asks you to persuade to et him again, tell him that he and I... there’s no need to et again in this life."
July froze...
Later, she didn’t even know what kind of expression she wore when she conveyed Laura’s words to Richard Donovan.
She only knew that after hearing those words, Richard sat blankly for a long ti.
His eyes were hollow, as if nothing in the world was worth his nostalgia anymore.
"Dad..."
July felt that in that mont, he seed to age by more than ten years.
Even his once dark and bright hair suddenly sprouted a few silver strands.
July was worried.
But when Richard snapped back, he rely smiled and said, "I’m fine, July, I’m fine. I’ll be okay after so rest."
As he said this, he stumbled when he stood up.
If July hadn’t supported him in ti, he might have fallen.
"Are you feeling uncomfortable sowhere? Should I check your pulse?"
July wanted Richard to sit back on the sofa, but he insisted on standing.
"I’m really fine, it’s just that I didn’t sleep well last night. I’ll be okay after so rest."
But if it was just a lack of rest, why were his eyes filled with tears?
However, unable to persuade him, July could only let him return to his room.
