Chapter 304: Trouble Arrives

Standing by the window, Alpha waved his hand dismissively.

“I understand. Leave now.”

Hearing the footsteps retreating behind him, Alpha’s face took on a contemplative expression.

Given his prestige in Maze City, the other party shouldn’t dare harm Jacqueline.

Before heading to the Brotherhood’s base, he needed to make so preparations.

As a mage, he required guardians.

---

Maze City, Aukladeo.

The slums, Brotherhood’s stronghold.

The Brotherhood’s efforts to shelter wanderers earned them a good reputation, quickly severing any ties with the disreputable Brotherhood Thieves’ Guild.

The Thieves’ Guild’s na had long been tarnished in Maze City.

The Thieves’ Guild never aided disabled adventurers, but the Brotherhood’s magical brew, capable of regenerating lost limbs, quickly beca the talk of the town.

This news created an uproar among Maze City’s adventurers.

After all, even the strongest can suffer injuries.

When a strong adventurer loses a limb, their combat effectiveness is greatly diminished.

Many disabled adventurers ca seeking the magical brew, but the Brotherhood refused all requests.

The magical brew was not for sale; only Brotherhood mbers could obtain it.

Joining the Brotherhood ant serving them for three years.

Three years might not seem long, but many adventurers couldn’t accept living under soone else’s roof for that ti.

Yet, the promise of curing disabilities made the trade-off worthwhile for most.

As a result, many adventurers joined the Brotherhood.

---

“Where’s your trouble now?”

In the upper level of the stronghold, within Li ng’s bedroom:

Jacqueline sat atop Li ng, her body bare, her hands pressed against his broad chest.

Her hips swayed seductively, her eyes brimming with allure.

Her lips parted slightly, her breathing rapid.

How many days had it been? Jacqueline had lost track.

For days, she hadn’t left the bed, continuously entangled with the beast beneath her.

This was her first encounter with a man who overwheld her so completely.

As a half-dragon, she belonged to a race with the strongest physiques.

Won of her kind were supposed to endure more than n.

But the beast beneath her seed to possess inexhaustible stamina.

Her body was growing numb, teetering on the edge of collapse.

Though she had lost the fight, she refused to concede in bed.

Yet now, Jacqueline was beginning to waver, feeling the urge to surrender.

If this continued, she feared she would be injured.

Looking down at the absurdly strong man beneath her, Jacqueline’s thoughts drifted.

“Alpha is a cautious man. He won’t co alone.”

Jacqueline knew Alpha better than anyone.

After all, they’d been companions for over forty years.

Alpha was her longest-lasting partner; her previous companions had all perished on their adventures.

The longest relationship before Alpha had lasted six years; the shortest, only three months.

“I see. Being too cautious has its downsides. By the ti he arrives, it’ll be too late.”

Li ng’s words made Jacqueline’s heart flutter with unease.

How could she face Alpha after indulging herself so completely?

“It… it shouldn’t matter, right?”

Jacqueline murmured to herself.

Alpha was already old.

Humans entering their twilight years lacked vitality.

And Alpha, as a Water God-level Grand Mage, had a fragile body with far less stamina than a Sword God of the sa level.

The last ti they had been intimate was over a decade ago.

Jacqueline had refrained, hoping Alpha would live longer.

She endured patiently, not wanting to betray him while he was alive.

Humans placed great importance on loyalty in relationships.

Was it really okay?

Jacqueline’s eyes flickered with complex emotions.

Her half-dragon blood made her desires exceptionally strong.

After ten years of restraint, she was highly sensitive.

Jacqueline recalled a banquet she attended with Alpha not long ago.

At the banquet, she danced with a senator whose na she couldn’t rember.

Though she found him repulsive, her body reacted just because he was a man.

The senator noticed her longing and beca handsy during the dance.

Though she scared him off afterward, Jacqueline knew her patience was nearing its limit.

Accepting Li ng’s proposal was partly an excuse to release her pent-up desires.

She hadn’t expected the outco to fulfill her so completely.

After days of indulgence, Jacqueline felt a satisfaction she had never known.

Her guilt toward Alpha added an unusual thrill to the experience.

---

“Hmph!”

Jacqueline let out a soft groan, her brows furrowing.

Her pale body collapsed onto Li ng’s chest, panting heavily.

“I… I surrender!”

Hearing Jacqueline’s whimper, Li ng grinned.

Conquering her had rekindled a long-lost sense of dominance.

It felt intoxicating.

Li ng’s left hand wrapped around her delicate body, while his right hand gently caressed her waist-length red hair.

He’d heard that stroking a woman’s hair after intimacy brought them comfort.

“If Alpha cos, can you promise not to hurt him?”

Jacqueline’s soft voice carried her plea.

Alpha was still her partner.

She didn’t want him to suffer because of her entanglent with this beast.

Though Alpha was strong and well-connected in Maze City, Jacqueline doubted his ability to defeat the monster beneath her.

Only by confronting him firsthand could one grasp his terrifying strength.

“If that’s your request, I promise I won’t harm him.”

Li ng had no intention of disrupting his plans in Maze City for a woman.

Killing Alpha, a well-connected figure, would make him a monstrous target for the city’s adventurers.

Such an act might also destabilize the city’s power structure, plunging Maze City into chaos—an outco detrintal to his goals.

---

“Boss!”

Suddenly, hurried footsteps echoed outside the bedroom.

The door burst open, and Rose entered hastily.

Her nose twitched at the unfamiliar yet familiar scent in the air, her cheeks flushing.

Seeing the naked, entwined figures on the bed, Rose’s heart raced as she quickly averted her gaze.

“Boss… the target has arrived!”

The target?

Li ng glanced at Jacqueline in his arms.

Jacqueline’s heart tightened as she hurriedly sat up, panic flashing in her eyes.

What a coincidence. Speak of the devil, and he appears.
