At the entrance of the Land Managent Bureau.
When Daniel Peacock was turned away for the third ti, he held the docunt in his hand and completely fell into despair.
Superintendent Thompson’s secretary saw him standing there, torn between whether or not to tell him sothing given the substantial amount of benefits he had received from Daniel in the past.
He admired this young man. After all, it was rare for soone his age to be so highly capable in Kyoto City. Moreover, he was the future son-in-law of the president of Kyoto City Group, and therefore had a promising future.
However, being too aggressive makes it easy to offend people, like the situation now when he had ruffled the feathers of soone he should not have.
“Daniel, you better not co here to the Land Managent Bureau for the ti being. Even if you do, Superintendent Thompson will not see you. He is aware of today’s issue. Take all these stuff back. The plot of land in the west of the city no longer belongs to the governnt.”
What Secretary Lee said shocked Daniel. Without that piece of land in the west city, their animation city project could absolutely not be implented.
“Secretary Lee, what on earth happened? Previously we were having a great discussion with Superintendent Thompson and Kyoto City.”
Secretary Lee simply gestured him not to continue the conversation. It seed that this matter was intercepted by soone else!
“Can you tell
who that person is? I’ll visit him personally. I’ll talk to him.”
Secretary Lee shook his head, unable to say anything more. He had to obey his superiors. He had accepted benefits from Daniel, and had now given him a heads up. He had already done his best to help.
Daniel left the Land Managent Bureau with a dejected look on his face. He drove back to the hotel, but how could he not feel distressed on the way?
He had never made any enemies since he left Kyoto City. All the connections and networks he had were established in Kyoto and were all related to Kyoto City Group. He had never done anything wrong to anyone.
Back at the hotel, Daniel saw Abigail Johnson was still sleeping, which made him feel unhappy.
This young lady who had grown up without experiencing hardships, spoiled by her doting father, was not really a match for a self-made man like Daniel.
But through marrying her, Daniel knew that he would be able to save himself a struggle of ten, twenty or even more years.
With a different expression, Daniel went to the bed and gently stirred Abigail’s cheek.
“Darling, wake up.”
Abigail turned over slowly, but she was still sleeping deeply.
Daniel leaned down to give her a kiss.
It was all love before, but now…
