Chapter 587: Chapter 582: The Child, Gone
William Griffith stared intently into her eyes, trying to find a hint of jest, but he couldn’t find any. He had imagined eting her a thousand tis, and he had imagined the words he would say to her when they t. If she asked him whether he was doing well or not, he could not answer, and he would not answer.
But he guessed the beginning and didn’t guess the ending.
William never thought that she would say those words.
How have you been lately?
I am married now.
“Cherish Turner, where is our child? Where have you hidden our child, and how dare you marry soone else with my child?”
Damn this woman!
Cherish’s eyes flickered, as if William had touched the most painful part of her heart.
Taking a deep breath, she finally said, “The child is gone.”
Gone…gone…
William seed not to understand.
“When we went to the hospital, the child was still there…” How could it be gone?
“So things are probably ant to be. It’s destined that we cannot be together, destined to have no ties, so our child left us.”
Cherish still felt heartache.
But William wanted to call it nonsense!
Lewis was fine, wasn’t Lewis their child too!
But he couldn’t do that now, he had to endure!
“So that’s how it is… It seems that between us, there is nothing left to connect us…”
William ca back to his senses, picked up a glass of wine, and drained it in one gulp.
Finishing the glass, the blonde woman next to him hurriedly refilled it for him. He indifferently smiled and started talking to the woman beside him, off and on. But the distance between the two remained unchanged, not getting any closer. Unintentionally or uncontrollably, his gaze would occasionally drift towards her sitting not far away.
William’s eyes scanned her face, then looked at her right hand and then her left hand. Still, she didn’t have any rings on.
Amidst the bright lights and wine, the night felt exceptionally long.
The night was already deep, the rain had stopped, but the fog hadn’t dissipated. When they left the nightclub in the early hours, the cool wind blowing could sober the mind. So bosses were drunk, so their subordinates drove for them, and a few cars parked along the roadside in front of the nightclub.
“Secretary Turner, let
give you a ride?” Louis said with a smile.
Cherish was about to speak, but she saw a black sports car driving around the corner. She said softly, “No thanks, Mr. Louis, soone is coming to pick
up.”
Louis smiled, apparently understanding who she ant by “soone.”
The black sports car stopped slowly across the street, and the window rolled down to reveal a handso face. He also looked at the crowd across the street. His golden hair shimred under the streetlight, and he had a pair of green eyes, the deep erald hue resembling the most expensive erald gemstone, dazzling when he smiled.
“Then I’ll be leaving first.” Cherish said with a smile, nodding her head one by one to the others, and stepped across the street.
Only when she was in the middle of the street did William look up. His gaze penetrated through the crowd, sweeping over her strolling figure and stopping at the handso man in the car. The car was a luxury one, by the looks of that man, he seed quite valuable. He watched her walk around the car, watched her get in, and watched the man drive her away.
