Chapter 570: Chapter 569: Leaving Without Saying Goodbye

William Griffith put down his fork and suddenly stood up, moving closer to her. Looking up, Cherish Turner saw him bend down to gaze at her, reaching out to touch her face. She looked at him wide-eyed, only feeling a prickling pain in her ear as sothing was put on. She didn’t usually wear earrings, butshe knew what he had put on her.

Cherish touched it with her hand; a slick, hard object was attached to her ear.

Feeling a kiss on her forehead, Cherish looked up dazedly and saw his deep eyes. He spoke in a low tone, “Cherish, don’t take it off.”

Cherish nodded squarely. William Griffith patted her hair, “Good girl, go soak in the hot spring.”

The n’s and won’s baths in the hot spring were far apart, so as per tradition, they would et at the pavilion after bathing.

Warm spring water soaked her body as Cherish took out her phone to snap a photo of her earring. As the flash went off, she saw the image of a black gem on her screen. It was an utterly clear black gem, so stellar that despite the blurry picture, its preciousness was evident. She could faintly see a carved pattern in the black gem.

Tenderly stroking the earring, Cherish suddenly thought of what he said at the airport, “Let’s end where we began.”

As if afraid or anticipating sothing, she surged up out of the water, robed herself and sprinted out of the bath.

There was no one waiting in the pavilion, Cherish raced there.

She sat in the pavilion, waiting and waiting.

People kept coming and going, but that one person did not reappear.

Cherish kept waiting in the pavilion, fearful that he would suddenly appear.

However, after what seed like ages and still no sight of him, Cherish couldn’t help but run back to the front desk of the hotel to inquire, “Have you seen the gentleman who ca with ?”

The owner was a middle-aged Japanese man who didn’t understand Chinese. Yet when he saw her, he imdiately understood sothing. He quickly opened a drawer and handed her a letter. Cherish was confused. She opened the envelope to find a return ticket to Seacity.

The flight was the next morning, at ten.

She was suddenly bewildered, her earring burning and aching sharply.

But how could he leave her stranded in this foreign country, this unknown city, just like that? A second ago he was so attentive to her, his warmth remains on her lips, he kissed her when they separated at the hot spring. But now, he was simply gone, without leaving a single trace behind.

Cherish, her heart pounding, clutched the plane ticket and dazedly returned to her hotel room.

As expected, the room was empty. He had brought few things to begin with, and took nothing with him when he left. In a bag on the floor, she found a few knick-knacks that she had picked up in various shops.

Cherish stared blankly at her room, suddenly unable to muster even a sigh of resignation.

For his sudden disappearance, it seed she was becoming accustod to.

The next day, Cherish woke at five. After packing, she went downstairs, the owner kindly called a cab for her. She thanked him with a grateful nod. As the cab raced off, she gazed at the disappearing hot spring hotel that was now just a blink in the rearview mirror, inevitably left behind.

As the car sped off and rounded the corner, a tall figure erged from the hotel.

A man stood in the wind, his chiseled features shrouded in the heavy fog, discernible yet distant.
