That morning, around nine o’clock, Cherish Turner was still in her wrinkled skirt, her hair uncombed, having just washed her face. She heard the doorbell ring and thought William might have forgotten his key, so she quickly put down her towel and ran out of the bathroom. As she opened the door, her smile froze and her expression beca sowhat unnatural.
Chloe Turner looked gorgeous, carrying a straw bag in her hands, as she smiled and called out, “Miss Turner.”
“Chloe.” Cherish didn’t expect her sister to find the place. She thought that their relationship must be more than casual as this was William Griffith’s private residence.
“Is William not ho?”
“He’s out. Do you want to co in and wait?”
“No, if he cos back, please tell him I’ll wait for his call.”
With that simple sentence, Chloe left gracefully. She always seed to have a sense of superiority over Cherish, which made her very uncomfortable. Although the two won shared the sa blood, having sisterly feelings between them was difficult for both.
Cherish couldn’t maintain her elegance and calmness, like Chloe could. The silence of William made her increasingly anxious. She shouldn’t be so narrow-minded since their past was sothing she couldn’t change or intervene. Even though they weren’t in a relationship then, they were at least friends who could have als, etings, and share their thoughts. Moreover, they had known each other for so long.
She trusted him and gave him enough space.
However, she just couldn’t act as if nothing had happened.

Cherish looked around the eting table and began to explain Griffith’s vacation area developnt project.
When the eting ended, Cherish returned to her office.
She wondered if they should have dinner together and took out her phone to give him a call.
But then she noticed a new text ssage on her phone.
It was from her mother, asking if she had ti in the evening.
Cherish imdiately replied, saying she had ti. She agreed to et her mother after work. As soon as she finished texting, William called. His deep, steady voice ca through the phone, “I have plans with my friends tonight. We won’t have dinner together. You can go ho early.”
Cherish gripped her phone tightly and only managed to say, “Okay.”
She wanted to ask him sothing, but couldn’t get the words out.
William, did you make plans with Chloe?
Cherish initially thought her mother wanted to talk to her about William, but when she arrived ho, she realized her mother was actually discussing a trip. The schedule had been set, and she asked Cherish to organize her own life while her parents were away. Cherish agreed without hesitation.
The two chatted for a while, and as it was getting late, Cherish prepared to leave. Before she left, her mother went to fetch freshly baked cookies, asking her to wait a mont. Cherish noticed that the trash can was full, so she decided to take it out downstairs.
After disposing of the trash, Cherish was about to go back up when she saw a tall figure in front of her.
