Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Helplessness
The nurse nearby, noticing the scene, hurried over to Cherish. However, Cherish was in such a frantic haste that she ignored the nurse.
The nurse bent down to pick up the cellphone and seeing Cherish in such a distraught state, decided to answer the call. “Sir, sorry to disappoint you, I am not the phone’s owner. Here’s what happened…”
The nurse walked away to a quiet spot and relayed the story to the person on the other end of the line.
Another nurse arrived promptly from the far end of the corridor, stopping in front of Cherish, “Miss! Are you a family mber of the patient in ER? Could you please process the necessary formalities?”
Family mber! Necessary formalities!
At the ntion of these words, Cherish’s mind heated up, her sole focus was to rescue Anthony Turner. She abruptly stood up and grabbed the nurse’s hand, “Where can I process these? I’ll go right away!”
“I will take you there!” The nurse, taken aback by her intensity, led Cherish away.
The nurse still on the phone with the call hastily shouted, “Miss! Your phone…”
It was at the service counter for processing the formalities that Cherish realized she had sohow lost her bag. She stood dumbly in front of the counter, incapable of clear thought. She felt so helpless that she didn’t even have the strength to clench her fists, and stood frozen.
“Miss, your friend said he will be here soon. Don’t worry.” The nurse reassured her. Cherish nodded woodenly.
Not long after, indeed, soone arrived in a hurry.
The person was Daniel Peacock. Cherish never expected that the person who would co at this ti would be Daniel Peacock. When she saw Daniel again, all sorts of feelings welled up inside her, like a fleeting image of them under a cherry blossom tree.
But the image flickered and vanished, and she could rember nothing else.
Daniel Peacock originally didn’t know Cherish’s phone number. However, a hotel receptionist had given him her number when Daniel went to look for her at the hotel. Little did he expect such a scene would unfold.
Daniel, clothed in a sleek black suit, appeared in the lobby. With his elegant and handso exterior, he stood out like a scenic attraction. From a distance, he saw her small figure standing beside a window, her back towards him. He couldn’t see her face, but he could discern her trembling shoulders.
He quickened his step, stopping behind her. In a deep voice, he called her, “Cherish.”
Hearing her na, Cherish slowly turned around. Her dark hair frad her pale, petite face. She looked on the verge of tears with her eyes swollen. Self-reproach mixed with lantation etched in her expression, she muttered, “I…. I lost my wallet… I can’t process the paperwork…”
She seed dazed, like a wounded, scared deer. Seeing her in such a state, it appeared she didn’t recognize him. She was just like a lost child, helplessly expressing her feelings.
Daniel was taken aback, his eyes bore into hers. He had known Cherish for a long ti, never once had he seen such a look in her eyes. Daniel knew Cherish didn’t have deep feelings for Anthony, considering she didn’t know that her uncle was her father. After forgetting all the past incidents, she beca even more clueless.
Yet, at that mont, he could easily perceive that Cherish had a bond, thicker than water, with Anthony.
