Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Not Good
Cherish Turner seed to find solace in this strange city, as she began to chat with Lewis as if she found sothing to hold onto. Perhaps she felt guilt for the child, so when chatting with him, she was very engaged, sending a lot of emojis and expressing how much she missed him.
Often, before receiving a reply on the other side, she continued to send ssages.
But as she sent them, she suddenly thought, “Sweetie, can you read the words Auntie writes? Right, you can actually type now?”
Then she sent a question mark emoji.
William Griffith read Cherish Turner’s ssages very carefully and cherished each line. When he saw the latest ssage, his heart suddenly skipped a beat, and for a mont, he didn’t know how to reply.
After so consideration, he cautiously wrote: “My dad had
learn to read a long ti ago. I can’t read very difficult words, but I can read simple ones.”
Oh, that’s how it is. Cherish understood, the Griffith family’s elite education is sothing else indeed.
After chatting a bit, she suddenly didn’t know what to say and stared blankly at her phone.
She inexplicably missed the child very much, especially after arriving in Kyoto City. This feeling beca even more intense.
She didn’t know whether she was missing William Griffith or if it was just purely missing Lewis.
The ssage on the other end ca over again, which made Cherish change her mind slightly:
“Auntie, my dad misses you a lot. Do you miss him?”
The child’s tone didn’t make Cherish Turner doubt it, but how should she answer? Saying she didn’t miss him would be lying, but saying she did, she was afraid Lewis would tell William Griffith.
On the other side, William, in front of his phone, also held his breath, his heart racing with anxiety.
Cherish Turner didn’t imdiately reply. William Griffith thought, maybe he won’t get her answer, or maybe she’s not by her phone and went to do sothing else?
But just as he was about to give up, a reply ca through from the other side, “How is your dad doing lately?”
Almost imdiately, William replied:
“Not good.”
The words “not good,” felt like two stuffy and heavy fists, striking Cherish’s heart.
Knowing full well that he couldn’t possibly be doing well, why would she still ask a question like this? It was no help to him and only hurt herself.
There was nothing left to say. William also blad himself for replying too impulsively to such a text. How would Cherish respond?
So he quickly added: “But don’t worry, I will comfort him well. As long as Auntie cos back soon, my dad will definitely be full of energy!”
Haha, he even knows how to use the idiom “full of energy.” It seems this little guy has been really putting effort into his studies recently.
Cherish’s mood improved significantly. So, she switched to voice mode and sent a ssage:
“Lewis is such a good boy. You have to be good and wait for Auntie to co back.”
Then she sent a hugging emoji, along with the text: It’s getting late, go to bed early, bye.
William was startled by this ssage. He hardly ever used this kind of ssaging app. As he cautiously opened it, Cherish Turner’s voice ca through.
The first ti he heard it, it felt like ages since they spoke. Then, he listened for a second ti and then a third…
That night, after replying to Cherish’s good night ssage, William slept holding his phone. That night, he listened to Cherish’s voice ssage over and over again before finally falling asleep.
