Chapter 691: 690 King’s Transformation

“Before this ga, despite the Kansas City Chiefs still being ranked as the number one seed in the Arican League, the shadow of being labeled a ‘pretender’ followed them closely because of previous losses to the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.”

“This scene was all too similar to last season, it felt as though they were reliving it once again.”

“Likewise, this ti, the Kansas City Chiefs proved themselves under pressure.”

“With four minutes remaining in the ga, the Kansas City Chiefs were still behind; but in those final monts, the defending champions launched three waves of assault, transitioning from offense to defense and back to offense.”

“One touchdown pass, tying the score.”

“One three-and-out, dragging the ga into overti.”

...

“One rushing touchdown, sealing the win.”

“In those final monts, the Kansas City Chiefs displayed the explosive power of the Arican League’s number one seed, shutting down the Baltimore Ravens Defense on both the offensive and defensive fronts.”

“Cool. Dominant. Imposing.”

“In this Kansas City Chiefs team, we can truly see the aura of a great power transforming.”

“Everything—hard to believe the words I’m about to say, but it’s the truth—everything ca from the Kansas City Chiefs’ new captain this season, Li Wei.”

“Both touchdowns were courtesy of Li Wei, not just receiving touchdowns, but rushing as well; he also beca the backbone of the team during tough tis.”

“The most incredible part was that Li Wei had to leave the field due to a suspected concussion in the second quarter; even after he returned and faced targeted defenses from the Baltimore Ravens Defense that made him struggle, Li Wei ultimately found a way to co back.”

“Wow.”

“Listen, that’s the sound from Arrowhead Stadium—”

No amount of words, no amount of praise, can compare to the cheers of the fans.

So real, so passionate, so wild.

Felix sang at the top of his lungs:

“He’s here, he’s there, he’s everywhere, he’s the Edgerunner, Li Wei, Li Wei, Li Wei.”

He knew he was in tears, like a madman; but he just couldn’t help himself.

When the cancer cells ca back, the doctor pronounced his death sentence: at most a year, as soon as six months, he might have to say goodbye to the world.

Though they were still trying, still fighting, his mother refused to give up, and he refused to surrender; but all their efforts seed in vain.

In the quiet of the night, he too would think, maybe he should give up, there was no need to struggle further, no need to let everyone else suffer.

But he wasn’t ready to give in.

He was only eighteen, there were countless things he hadn’t done, he hadn’t even had a secret crush, his life was just beginning, yet it was already approaching its end.

He… really didn’t want to give in.

So, he was struggling, he was persisting, like a cockroach.

But now, he knew, there was soone else who was also always fighting, refusing to give up or surrender, no matter the outco, always giving their all.

It was him, who made him believe that dreams still exist, that the journey could be more beautiful than the destination, that one could still find depth and value in the sa span of life, and that knowing the ending in advance didn’t an that life was aningless.

So, he was still here, ten months since the doctor’s diagnosis, he was still in Arrowhead Stadium, burning brightly.

A last-second win! Victory!

The Heart of the Champion inside the chest of the Kansas City Chiefs still beats, despite the entire League doubting their chance to defend their title, countless voices claiming last season’s championship was just luck; but they continued to move forward at their own pace, steadfastly and resolutely.

“Heart of the Champion” isn’t just about being champions, it’s about belief, fighting spirit, determination, and perseverance, a genuine heart that refuses to give up, refuses to surrender, fighting to the very end.

One sentence, and then another.

One cry, then another.

Felix sang his heart out.

Karen noticed, Felix was always so considerate, worried that they would overthink. He never showed vulnerability or sadness in front of them; he had never cried. But she knew that those tender eighteen-year-old shoulders bore too much, and she had to be even stronger than him.

Subtly, Karen straightened her back, as if she didn’t see the tears in Felix’s eyes, and joined him in singing aloud.

“He’s here, he’s there, he’s everywhere, he is the Edgerunner, Li Wei, Li Wei, Li Wei.”

Over and over again.

The whole stadium roared.

Then, Mosley couldn’t hold it in any longer. He dropped to his knees, eyes wide with disbelief. His brain thundered, unable to process what was happening:

What… what happened?

In the end, he hadn’t even touched the hem of Li Wei’s jersey, and just like that, they’d lost. Just like that?

“24:30”.

The score, so clear and yet so blinding, shone from the big screen above Arrowhead Stadium.

In overti, if one side scored a touchdown, that was an instant kill of the ga, there wasn’t even a need for the extra point—the touchdown announced the end of the ga,

And there it was, right in front of them.

The Baltimore Ravens had stood invincible, with countless possibilities and avenues of retreat. Yet they hadn’t foreseen that they’d be pushed back further and further, with no way left to retreat, and then… there was no “and then.”

Lamar Jackson stood motionless, speechless for a long ti, his mind a blank slate, truly devoid of any thought.

No sha, no anger, no frustration, nothing. Just standing completely still, like a puppet.

Lost.

Lost again and again.

How many tis now? Jackson couldn’t even rember, because losing seed to have beco a habit.

But what was more terrifying was that Jackson felt no ripples in his heart; he was even indifferent to the habit of losing. Could his destiny not be changed even in the NFL?

Mournful wails reached his ears—it was Edwards.

“It’s all over, I’m going to be the laughingstock of that rookie. I don’t want to attend the post-ga press conference. That rookie will definitely not let off the hook. I can’t outtalk him.”

“I’m so naive and kind, and he can torture to death with just a few words. I don’t want to live anymore.”

With that, Edwards really did slump to the ground, shoulders drooping in despair, clutching his helt, he wailed without shedding a tear.

Jackson finally began to co back to his senses—

Wake up, Lamar! Snap out of it. You’re not going to be scared off by one ga, are you? This is only their first encounter on the professional field, and there are many many more opportunities ahead. He will co back one day and defeat that guy squarely, proving his strength for real.

Just look at today and you will see, Li Wei isn’t perfect, not even that dominant. The Baltimore Ravens were so close to beating them. Victory was just a tiny bit away; it won’t be too long before possibly changing the outco in their next eting this season.

One day, sooner or later, but that day will definitely co.

Now is not the ti to admit defeat, absolutely not.

You can’t bow your head, or the crown will fall.

Taking a deep breath, Jackson found so semblance of rationality. He needed to confront Li Wei head-on, he needed to show he hadn’t been scared off.

So, where was Li Wei?
