Chapter 613: Dry mouth and tongue Chapter 613: Dry mouth and tongue “`
Babble babble.
Chatter chatter.
Questions, one after another, ceaselessly subrged Donald, who, on the field, could call the wind and summon the rain as a top defensive general.
Yet, at this mont, his gaze lost focus, he looked around in a panic and confusion, like a 300-pound baby separated from its mother.
Although Donald’s rise to prominence in the past two years had been teoric, virtually becoming the League’s top defensive player, he had never quite beco a national idol like Watt, whose influence on the North Arican continent was sowhat greater—
Why?
The reasons were not that simple.
Just like in the NBA, where Kobe Bryant scripted countless glorious monts, his market and comrcial value were never quite on par with Michael Jordan’s, nor with LeBron Jas’s.
...
Backed by complex factors, it was the sa for Aaron Donald; the journey to becoming a superstar with market appeal was intricate and not easy to generalize.
However, one aspect was that Donald’s eloquence and deanor weren’t as outstanding as Watt’s.
Indeed, Watt was an honest man, and so was Donald.
Both preferred action to words and spent long hours proving their worth in the gym and on the training field.
But even amongst these honest n, there was a difference in the way they faced a barrage of dia and the cara’s focus.
Watt may not have been the most eloquent or jovial, yet his sincerity, generosity, and deanor shone through when standing before journalists and caras, firmly capturing the audience’s attention and affection.
Donald, on the other hand, despite having been in the League for a while, still seed reserved and straightforward, as if unable to loosen up in front of caras and microphones.
At this mont, faced with the aggressive questioning from reporters’ recorders and smartphones, he beca flustered, his words coming out dry and tasteless, his anxiety palpable.
“I respect Li Wei and admire him.
I look forward to eting him on the field,” he said.
Upright and aboveboard.
Standing on the field, Donald had never and would never fear any adversary, Li Wei included.
He too looked forward to their encounter to see who was superior; yet, despite his fervent words, they were delivered so matter-of-factly that there was no hint of enthusiasm—
Disappointing.
But that was of no consequence; the dia knew how to fan the flas.
With a turn, the caras all swung toward Li Wei, the scene previously engulfing Donald copied and pasted onto Li Wei.
Reporters, arm in arm and hand in hand, built a human wall, layer upon layer, effectively barricading the training facility’s entrance in a stance that seed to say they wouldn’t rest until their goal was achieved.
If Li Wei refused to cooperate, the reporters would block his way into the facility, creating an impressive bustle of people.
However.
With one silent step forward from Li Wei, the reporter wall gasped and staggered half a step back, their shoulders hunched and crowded together like small animals.
Li Wei hadn’t done anything, but their battle-ready posture was unintentionally comical.
The scene was, indeed, a bit humorous.
Reporter: You might have forgotten, but we haven’t, that Li Wei cos from a mixed martial arts background, and that’s not sothing to joke lightly about.
At this sight, Li Wei blinked, completely clueless as to what was happening, looking at the reporters with an innocent expression.
He didn’t continue forward but instead bypassed the crowd from the right and knocked on the door of the guardhouse.
In full view of everyone, he entered the guardhouse, greeted the guard with enthusiasm and high-fives, then exited on the other side.
He turned back towards the gate to face the dumbstruck crowd, smiled, and waved a greeting.
“Good morning.”
Then, without waiting for a response, he turned and strode away.
Reporter: …
Only then did the reporters snap out of it, crumbling like a wall of sand.
They sward toward the gate, their cries as if from the souls of the damned in prison, yearning for an angelic rescue.
Li Wei paused, sighed upward, and thought to himself, he was simply too kind-hearted.
“`
Ultimately, Li Wei turned to face the journalists, listening patiently to the question.
Then, he finally understood what was happening and had an epiphany.
“Of course, he is one of the most outstanding and top players in the league right now.
To be able to compete against such a level player is, without a doubt, an honor.”
“But.”
“We need to focus on the present, one ga at a ti.
“He is not my problem right now, New England is.”
After speaking, Li Wei showed a broad smile and left with a relaxed gait.
Behind him, the journalists stood despondently and sadly, watching Li Wei’s back that would never turn again, refusing to leave for a long ti.
But they also knew Li Wei was right—
Donald was the focus, and so was New England.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ opponent for the sixth week of the regular season was none other than the New England Patriots.
As with the previous season, the Kansas City Chiefs would face a strong rival in the sixth week of the regular season, this ti igniting the league’s central attention: the New England Patriots.
And again, it was an away ga; the Kansas City Chiefs would head north to Foxborough once more to challenge the league champions for the third ti at the nightmarish Gillette Stadium.
This ti, it was a Sunday night ga.
All eyes were on it!
Accurately speaking, from the mont the schedule was announced, the entire league’s attention was focused on this event.
As the new season progressed one ga after another, anticipation climbed steadily; it seed as though all the traffic, all the frenzy, all the focus was eagerly waiting for this confrontation to arrive.
However, there was a slight surprise.
The Los Angeles Rams, with their stunning five-ga winning streak, were neck and neck with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The rivalry between Li Wei and Donald had briefly attracted attention; but Li Wei was right, there were more important things at hand.
“Kansas City Chiefs VS New England Patriots 3.0.”
Donald let out a long breath and his tense shoulders finally were able to relax a bit, looking as though he had just been fished out of water—
Escaping from the brink of death.
But Donald too couldn’t resist casting his gaze toward Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, filled with anticipation, just like the millions of fervent eyes in the league.
anwhile, the journalists who had pulled back from the edge finally ca to their senses and turned back, aiming their long and short cannons at Li Wei and Brady for a full-on assault.
Undoubtedly, this was the most heavyweight match of the 2018 season since the kick-off.
This was due to the grudges between the two teams over the past three seasons, the clash between two generations with the “new waves pushing the old waves, and the old ones dying on the shore,” and because this would be a confrontation between the last two Super Bowl MVPs.
Everything was adding to the topic’s heat for this match.
Beyond imagination!
Goodell couldn’t help but slap his thigh: Misstep!
Had he known, he would have scheduled this match for Thursday night.
However—
Sunday night was just as good.
After experiencing a full day of bombardnt from morning and afternoon matches, the fans were still crazily downing Red Bulls and coffee, eagerly getting ready for the night ga.
Nobody wanted to miss it.
