Dazzling, overwhelming, ever-changing, light and agile.
Often, this is used to describe the offensive tactics of the Kansas City Chiefs; however, surprisingly, this ti it was the Tennessee Titans who launched the trick play—
Near the midfield line, with ten yards and a tiout, they completed a discreet setup, catching the Kansas City Chiefs off guard.
Vrabel truly took out his secret weapon, treating the closing monts of the first half as a life-and-death battle before the ga’s end, it was a battle of montum!
And once again, Vrabel succeeded. Who would have thought Derrick Henry would replicate Li Wei’s performance and play the passer role?
Corey Davis caught the ball and fought his way through the chaos.
This player, who long served as a rotating wide receiver and was even cut mid-season, was re-signed a month and a half later due to nurous injuries on the Tennessee Titans, mainly to supplent the bench depth, an almost unnoticed minor role, now under the spotlight.
Push off, sprint, weave through.
Davis weaved lightly through the chaotic backfield, crossing the forty-yard line, then the thirty, shaking off lineman Regland’s hit, and the Red Zone was just within reach.
As the pass connection between Henry and Davis was poised to deliver a deadly blow in the final monts of the first half, safety Matty charged in from the side.
At that mont, Matty could clearly feel the blood of the Kansas City Chiefs boiling and burning. Although it was only his first season at Arrowhead Stadium, the locker room atmosphere, ga style, and training habits had been changing his stereotyped impressions of the professional league, rekindling the pure and simple joy he felt when he first fell in love with football—
Just enjoying running, confronting, and strategizing on the field.
Ten years ago, before entering the NCAA, he was just a boy who loved football; but over the past three years, caught in a cycle of cuts, job hunting, interviews, adapting to new players, and more cuts, he had already forgotten that joy, becoming a mundane middle-aged man.
It wasn’t until now, he still rembered the first day of this offseason when he arrived at the training base to report. He thought he was the first to arrive, only to see Hardman; shortly after, they found Li Wei was already warming up. A simple scene, yet vivid to this day.
Focused, persistent, determined, Matty’s attention was fully concentrated.
Tackle. Impact.
Take down.
Smooth and straightforward, the explosive power and speed instantly cut off Davis’s advance, both tumbling across the grass in a long skid, even as a bystander, one could clearly feel the pain of power clashing, the entire skeleton protesting.
"Matty, wow, Matty stopped Davis!"
"At a crucial mont, Kansas City Chiefs’ last line of defense, safety Matty, completed the tackle interception, halting Tennessee Titans’ trick play."
"Wow, unbelievable!"
"So close, Vrabel’s tactical strategy almost secured a touchdown, a surprising move that upturned everyone’s expectations, completely disrupting the Kansas City Chiefs’ judgnt."
"Though they didn’t score a touchdown, now the Tennessee Titans’ offensive group is at the eighteen-yard line, not only in field goal range but also directly targeting a touchdown. Vrabel is pushing the roller-coaster first half to new thrilling heights, this ga’s excitent level is beyond imagination."
"Brilliant!"
"Truly brilliant!"
"2017 season wild card ga, Kansas City Chiefs visiting Tennessee Titans, then starting quarterback Mariota completed an unbelievable quarterback-to-quarterback touchdown pass, Mariota’s pass, intercepted, bounced back into his own arms, and finally, Mariota entered the end zone for a touchdown."
"That accident completely disoriented the young Kansas City Chiefs, nearly losing the ga, and only in the final monts did they achieve victory."
"The current divisional ga rekindles those mories."
"This ti, Vrabel has used a dazzling trick play to completely overturn the offensive and defensive standoff, re-igniting the Tennessee Titans’ montum."
"Next, whether the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense can stabilize, quickly adjust, and stop the Tennessee Titans’ touchdown attempt may decide the entire ga’s outco."
Vrabel seed slightly regretful, unable to accomplish it in one go, which was obviously unfortunate.
But Vrabel also knew, there was no ti for regret; they must seize the mont, continue to push forward before the Kansas City Chiefs’ defense could regain their composure—
The opportunity was right in front of them.
So, Vrabel did not use a tiout, quickly delivering instructions to Tannehill. The Tennessee Titans, usually skilled in ground tactics, uncommonly sped up the pace, quickly reassembling in a swift attack.
No ti to breathe, no space to adjust.
Instinctively, Matty glanced towards the sideline, not knowing why but finding Li Wei in the crowd.
All other Kansas City Chiefs players were standing, but Li Wei was the exception.
Li Wei sat on the bench, relaxed, holding a cup of hot tea, casually chatting with Kelsey, even showing a slight smile, constantly watching the field.
He wasn’t distracted, clearly, Li Wei was still closely monitoring the ga, but without tension or anxiety, 100% trusting the defensive unit.
A mont of calm and ease settled down the chaotic thoughts.
Then, Matty retracted his gaze, seeing Jones, Fuller, Regland, Brilland, and others also pulling their sight from Li Wei, exchanging looks, and without words, smiling knowingly, preparing again for the continuity of the fight.
Nervous?
No need, because they are not in this battle alone.
"Attack!"
Tannehill gave no ti to breathe, imdiately announcing the snap.
This ti, no tricks, Tannehill simply and crisply turned to hand the football to Henry—
Returning to a ground ga.
However, while Henry charged forward like a tank, Tannehill suddenly stood upright, observing the layout of the offensive and defensive stance.
Wait, fake run true pass?
One second. Two seconds.
Tannehill neither hesitated nor delayed, lifting his right hand to complete a pass towards the right diagonal direction.
The football traced a shallow red-brown arc, flying towards the back corner of the end zone, a silhouette of white and blue ghosting to place.
That was AJ Brown, one of the contenders for best offensive rookie of the season.
Everything happened too fast.
Safety Sorensen approached quickly but realized too late, being too close to the end zone to block the passing route.
What to do?
Sorensen adjusted his target, jumping towards the direction of the football to contest it with AJ Brown.
The football fell into AJ Brown’s hands; but Sorensen did not give up, inserting his right hand between AJ Brown’s arms, stretching his body to the fullest extent, giving a light jab.
The football loosened and descended, hitting AJ Brown’s helt, altering its trajectory and jetting backward.
Matty stood in the back, wide-eyed watching the football fly towards him, instinctively reaching out to grab it—
What was happening?
