Chapter 1219: Chapter 1218: Revisiting Old Haunts

Crash, crash, crash.

Outside the car window, rain poured down, blurring the glass into an impressionist painting, with green, blue, and black all chaotically mixed into a mass of gray. The decaying autumn leaves fell into the mud, red and yellow drifting helplessly in the rushing water, vitality fading away bit by bit in the stormy weather. Even through the window, the cold, damp air could be felt seeping in—

Clearly, this was all utterly terrible.

December in Foxborough lived up to its reputation.

In competitive sports, records are made to be broken; but there are so records in the long course of history that seem unbreakable.

For example, in the NFL, from the 2002 season to the 2009 season, the New England Patriots maintained an unbeaten record in December’s regular-season gas.

Before their shocking ho loss to the Miami Dolphins on December 6, 2009, Belichick and Brady together created a record of twenty-one unbeaten gas in December, spanning seven years.

This record should be hard to break for a very long ti, even the New England Patriots themselves haven’t been able to replicate the miracle.

A significant reason is the harsh weather in Foxborough in December, not only cold but also damp, which is a magic attack that can’t be kept out by clothing alone; plus, unpredictable and uncontrollable gusts of wind make Foxborough comparable to hell.

Every year, as December cos, Gillette Stadium becos a nightmare for every team in the league.

This year, the Kansas City Chiefs are the first to take the plunge, heading to Foxborough on December 9 to experience the 2019 season’s version of Gillette Stadium.

And now, Foxborough is rejecting the Kansas City Chiefs’ visit in this very manner, seemingly saying, “Get lost, you’re not welco here, you bunch of trash.”

“God, this weather.”

“The last ti in London we didn’t encounter the infamous bad weather, and we were relieved, but then ca Foxborough’s response. Couldn’t escape it after all.”

“One is England, the other is New England. Essentially the sa thing.”

“Kendall, that joke isn’t funny at all. Run an extra lap later.”

“Get lost. The rookie hasn’t said a word, and you’re jabbering away. If you want to run, you go run.”

As soon as Fuller spoke, Matty was there making faces, and Fuller then realized he probably shouldn’t have spoken recklessly.

Fuller quickly looked around, nervously checked before finally breathing a sigh of relief.

“The rookie is in the car ahead, with Patrick, Travis, and the others, don’t scare .”

Patting his chest, Fuller exhaled deeply, feeling a bit more at ease, but as he leaned back on the seat, he found himself in a daze, his thoughts settling down, his gaze unfocused.

“I wonder how Felix is doing.”

That one sentence quieted down the whole bus, and no one spoke, only the sound of the rain outside relentlessly perated, the biting cold making the hum of the air conditioning seem particularly noisy and irritating.

Felix’s condition was up and down, the doctors couldn’t give a definite answer, every day was filled with countless possibilities.

This is the worst part of life, old age, sickness, and death; there is so little they can change.

These days, Li Wei remained silent and buried himself in training, as if only by doing so could he vent all the frustration and stuffiness, although not spoken, the team atmosphere remained sowhat oppressive, always watching each other’s reactions and exchanging information—

They were all as concerned about Felix as Li Wei was.

“That guy loves coming to watch gas live, no matter the circumstances or where on the field, we could always hear his voice first.”

“Yeah, yeah, I really don’t know where he gets his energy from, like it’s never-ending.”

“If he got on the field, I bet he’d run faster and longer than .”

“Haha, isn’t that a given? Your weight can compare with a panda.”

“That’s different, Felix’s montum and energy completely inherit the rookie’s mantle, if you compared yourself to him, you wouldn’t stand a chance either.”

“That’s true. Once, when I was defending, obviously the pass was going the other direction, so I tried to slack off a little, but then I looked up and saw Felix’s eyes; it startled , I thought it was the rookie, I quickly pulled myself together and ran. How does that kid do it, the field is so big, yet he effortlessly makes his presence known.”

“Talent, that’s called talent. Do you believe it, even if he ca to Foxborough, it would be the sa, those old fossils at Gillette Stadium don’t stand a chance against him. He could single-handedly shut up the entire Gillette Stadium.”

Shortly, such a statent quieted down the entire bus once more.

In the silence, soone mumbled, “Felix won’t end up like Annie, unable to see us defend the title, will he?”

In an instant, the air froze, as if breathing and heartbeat were cut off.

A bitterness that words couldn’t adequately describe gently surfaced on the tongue.

Chris Jones turned to glance at everyone, wondering what the rookie would say in this situation.

“Since Felix can’t co to Foxborough, it’s all up to us. We should make those damned guys shut up completely, make them dare not talk nonsense again.”

Jones finished speaking, slightly annoyed, feeling that the aura was lacking a bit.

Then Fuller picked up, “Honestly, we’re considering it for their sake. If the rookie gets angry, they might embarrass themselves again.”

Hahaha, a collective burst of laughter, the atmosphere finally reignited—

An entire year later now, last year Li Wei had stood up to the crowd’s boos at Gillette Stadium and single-handedly weathered the storm, and that photo is still widely circulated on social networks.

Occasionally it’s brought up again, still shocking, sparking heated discussions; and there’s still a portion of the audience who haven’t seen that photo or heard that story, so other enthusiastic netizens once again enthusiastically explain, recreating that scene from a year ago, stirring emotions.

As for what the residents of Foxborough actually think, it’s unknown.

In the second bus, the atmosphere was a bit gloomy, the nonstop rainy afternoon always let negative thoughts spread wildly, but as for the bus they were worried about?

A hubbub, each voice higher than the last, engaged in heated debate, not looking at all like the ones Full and others were worried about—

“One hundred percent, they won’t let things slide easily.”

“I agree, but I don’t believe they’ll be stupid about it.”

“No, Travis, let tell you, no one has dared to challenge Foxborough for over ten years. Even if soone challenged them, they always hit back. But a widespread challenge like ours, this is the first in twenty years.”

“I understand what you an, I get everything you’re saying, and I agree, but after last year’s Gillette Stadium incident, they already got fined by the league. I don’t think Belichick will allow Gillette Stadium to ss up again this year.”

Back and forth, verbal jabs!

A group of people were engaging in a heated debate, red in the face!
