Chapter 1133: 1132 Let’s go ho together
Calm and collected, graceful and carefree.
In the midst of everyone’s attention, Li Wei breezed in with a big smile, relaxed as if he was oblivious to the chaos and noise behind him.
“Sorry, Sherlock, I’m late. Have you been waiting so long that you’ve grown a beard?”
Mahos, however, rarely had his attention elsewhere, focusing instead on what was behind, “What’s going on there?”
Li Wei glanced back and laughed directly, “Reporters.”
Mahos blinked: …”Did we get into a brawl with Green Bay after the ga?”
Li Wei burst into laughter, “Yes.”
Mahos: …”Who won?”
Li Wei shook his head lightly, showing a dissatisfied expression, “Of course it was us. I knocked Rodgers’ front tooth out.”
Mahos was just joking around, but now Li Wei’s sincerity left Mahos unable to discern truth from fiction, looking up in exasperation.
“I’m serious.” He was genuinely curious why the reporters were here in droves.
Li Wei was earnest, “I’m not.” He certainly hadn’t knocked Rodgers’ front tooth out.
Giving irrelevant answers, their conversation wasn’t on the sa wavelength, making Mahos both helpless and amused.
But now, Mahos could be certain there was nothing major, as Li Wei seed to be purely joking with a mischievous tone.
However, less than thirty seconds later, Mahos realized he was wrong—
It was big news! Bold, underlined! Absolutely big news! Urgent!
“Hey, Ariana!”
Seeing the figure stepping out of the front passenger seat, Mahos nearly choked on his own saliva, stamring and unable to speak.
No wonder!
No wonder the reporters went collectively insane!
Ariana flashed a smile, “Need any help?”
Mahos waved his hands repeatedly, “No, no, no, a rookie can handle it.”
Squeezing out a smile, he glared fiercely at Li Wei:
How could he not tell in advance?
Li Wei noticed Mahos floundering, but didn’t hide it, instead laid-back as he looked at Ariana, “He’s now at a loss, it seems your surprise was quite the shocker.”
Originally, Ariana was a bit embarrassed and ashad, but Li Wei’s words settled her down, and the smile on her lips relaxed considerably.
“Haha. When Li Wei saw , he was really startled too.” Ariana looked at Mahos, “I suddenly popped out after the ga and rushed over, he thought he was seeing a stalker.”
Mahos chuckled twice, “Now the rookie is the dream lover of countless people, if you knew how many confessions he receives daily, you’d be surprised. The love letters sent to the training base need to be packed in burlap sacks.”
Ariana looked aningfully at Li Wei, “Wow, love letters.”
Mahos didn’t notice the subtlety in the air and kept nodding, “Yeah, yeah, love letters. We thought social dia private ssages were the trend, no one writes love letters anymore, but the rookie never checks his social dia inbox, so people switched to handwritten love letters.”
Ariana eyed Li Wei, with a half-smiling, half-mocking look, “So, do you read them all?”
Li Wei was busy as usual, first helping Mahos into the back seat, then putting the wheelchair away in the trunk, threading through the crowd, and only then entering the driver’s seat and stepping into the ambush.
Li Wei glanced at Mahos through the rear-view mirror, and Mahos realized he might have ssed up, so he shut his mouth quickly and looked up at the sky.
Li Wei turned to Ariana again, smiling calmly, “No, there’s no ti, haven’t you heard my nickna?”
Ariana blinked her big beautiful eyes, pondering, “Training maniac?”
Li Wei’s lips curled slightly, “Opening letters isn’t part of my daily training routine.”
Ariana folded her arms across her chest, sighing regretfully like a teenage fan, “Oh, so many girls will toss and turn, unable to sleep.”
Li Wei could see the mischievous glint in Ariana’s eyes, “So, you read and reply to your private ssages yourself?”
“How many followers do you have? Thirty million? Forty million?”
“Oh, sorry, should it be counted in billions?”
Ariana was montarily stunned, then realized Li Wei was striking back!
Ariana bit her lower lip, putting on a pitiful expression, “I’ve followed you on Instagram and Twitter, haven’t you followed back?”
Li Wei, “Are you sure you followed and not a bot?”
His response made Ariana freeze, and she couldn’t help but burst into laughter the next second, “God, you hit with a killer move, I have no chance.”
Li Wei glanced at Ariana with a half-smiling, half-mocking quip, “The dia and netizens love to call an old fossil, out of touch with the tis.”
Ariana raised her chin slightly, with a realization dawning on her, “Dear Mr. Old-Fashioned, don’t worry, I won’t despise you.”
Back and forth, one mont they were at each other’s throats, the next they were all harmonious.
So, was this flirting?
In the back seat, Mahos quickly realized he couldn’t keep up with the pace. Watching the cozy scene between the driver and the passenger, he felt forlorn—
He should be under the car, not inside it.
God! He had a girlfriend too, so why was he here enduring this torture?
Why?
Mahos gazed out the window in desolation and then noticed:
It turned out he wasn’t the most pitiful; there was a group of pitiable people outside.
The reporters: they were the ones who should be under the car.
They prided themselves on being smart, yet they went to great lengths to follow Li Wei to the hospital, only to watch him pick up Mahos—
True to his word.
Their hopes for scandal or highlights were utterly dashed.
Like a bunch of idiots.
So, what next?
With Mahos as the glaring third wheel, Li Wei and Ariana didn’t look like they were heading for a date night; should they keep following?
Follow, why not? They were stubborn, relentlessly following Li Wei.
In a grand procession, that long tail followed Li Wei through Kansas City, easily trailing him back to his residence—
Though Li Wei was now an elite with an annual salary exceeding a hundred million US dollars, officially becoming the highest-paid professional athlete in 2019.
But in Kansas City, Li Wei didn’t rush to move house, still living in the community he moved into three years ago, still neighbors with Mahos.
Initially, quite a few fervent fans visited Li Wei’s ho to worship as if on a pilgrimage; but gradually, the fans realized they shouldn’t disturb Li Wei’s private life, so they began to support him at the training base.
Occasionally, fans still ca to Li Wei’s ho for a pilgrimage, but they usually ca and left quietly, trying not to disturb him.
The reporters saw the direction Li Wei was heading, and one after another, they got so excited they were almost having strokes—
Ho! Going ho!
After sending Mahos ho, Li Wei’s next step was to return to his own ho!
Explosive! Completely explosive!
The night-long pursuit was finally about to pay off.
Tears streaming down their faces!
