The two of them walked out of the elevator together. Dudu was very suspicious of his words’ authenticity, so she deliberately walked behind him, watching him walk to the door of the apartnt next to hers. He took out a key, unlocked the door, and then turned to her incredulous face, asking, "Want to co in and sit for a while?"
Dudu swallowed hard, hurriedly averted her gaze, buried her head to find her own key, opened the door, and went inside. She slamd the door right in his face, then stood behind the door for a long ti without recovering.
He lives next to her? Even before she got married? But she clearly rembered that when she first moved in, there was no one living next door. Even before the divorce, Qiao Luchen had suddenly asked her if soone had moved in next door.
The more she thought about it, the stranger it seed. But then again, Shen Yiran’s current behavior was the strangest of all. She took a deep breath, shook off the weird thoughts in her head, and turned on all the lights in the living room and hallway from the entrance. Then she picked up the remote control to turn on the TV. Even if she wasn’t watching it, the noise made her feel slightly less scared.
She walked into her bedroom, thinking she could just see his balcony from there. She didn’t even bother to put down her bag and imdiately went to the window, drawing back the curtains and opening the window. As soon as she stuck her head out and looked over, her gaze landed on Shen Yiran.
He was standing by the railing, staring at her without blinking, with a faint smile on his face.
Though he was good-looking, Dudu felt as if she’d seen a ghost. She hurriedly shut the curtains, her heart still racing uncontrollably.
She thought that taking a bath might help, but found that sitting by her desk, she couldn’t get any work done. Her mind refused to calm down. The thought that there might be a pair of eyes staring at her through the closed curtains made her heart thump wildly.
Irritated, she closed her laptop, grabbed a bottle of yogurt, wrapped herself in a thin blanket, and sat on the sofa. She planned to watch so variety shows to relax. But as soon as she picked up the remote, the doorbell rang.
Her first reaction was that it must be Shen Yiran, because at this late hour, her parents wouldn’t visit. If she hadn’t known he lived next door, that sudden doorbell would have terrified her.
She put on her shoes and went to the door. Looking through the peephole, sure enough, it was him. But sothing seed off—was he not wearing any clothes?
The doorbell kept ringing. Dudu hesitated before opening the door, just a crack, and peered through the gap at him. He was only wrapped in a bath towel, water droplets rolling down his body. The droplets fell from his hair, onto his shoulders, collarbone, chest, and eventually soaked into the towel around his waist.
"What do you want?!" Dudu frowned and asked, her tone full of impatience.
His tone was calm, and with a serious expression, he said, "The water heater is broken. Can I use your bathroom?"
Dudu imdiately responded with disdain, "That’s the last excuse ever. Did you find that thod from the internet from a hundred years ago?"
He wasn’t embarrassed even after being caught. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and said, "Really? But the water heater is actually broken. On such a cold day, who would want to run to the door in the middle of a shower to stand in the cold wind? Don’t you think?"
Dudu stared at him, half-believing, half-doubting. He added, "If you don’t believe , you can co over and check."
She sized him up for a mont, then slowly opened the door. As he started to step inside, she quickly extended her hand to stop him, saying, "Shower and then leave imdiately!"
He seed amused and asked, "Or does Miss Su want sothing to happen between us?"
