Mo Ming noticed the gaze from nearby, turned his head, and t Xiaoxiao’s eyes. She looked startled for a mont, then quickly lowered her head and pretended to focus on the daughter in her arms.
As the dishes were slowly being served, Mo Ming reached out to take the daughter from her arms and said to her, "You eat first."
"It’s fine, she’ll fall asleep soon."
Mo Ming insisted on taking the child into his own arms. The little one opened her eyes to look at him, then, after a mont’s hesitation, closed them again.
He hadn’t held a child many tis, and could count the instances on one hand. Seeing the little one not cry even when seeing his unfamiliar face made him feel slightly relieved.
He had thought seeing his unfamiliar face might scare the child into crying.
Opposite them, Su Nian said, "Once she’s asleep, just put her in the baby carriage. Let’s all have dinner."
Xiaoxiao leaned closer to Mo Ming to check on her daughter and whispered, "She hasn’t fallen deeply asleep yet. If we put her down, she’ll probably wake up."
"It’s fine, you eat. I’ll hold her."
Xiaoxiao nodded and said, "Let help you pick so food. What would you like?"
Without waiting for his answer, Xiaoxiao picked up a piece of braised ribs and put it in his bowl. "The ribs here are very tasty."
Grandma remarked, "You’ve grown so big, yet you never pick food for Grandma."
Xiaoxiao imdiately picked another piece and placed it in Grandma’s bowl. An’an teased, "What about ?"
"Everyone will get so!"
After serving everyone at the table, the atmosphere beca quite harmonious.
Gu Qimiao leaned over Shen Yanchen and said to Mo Ming, "Now you really look like a dad."
Shen Yanchen turned sideways to block her, disliking her talk with Mo Ming, "Eat your food!"
"Why are you always so an to Miaomiao?"
Miaomiao imdiately complained, "Mom, he always bullies and scolds for no reason."
"Mom will give him a good telling-off when we get ho," she said, giving Shen Yanchen a glare, "Learn from your dad, he never raises his voice at ."
Though in their younger years, he didn’t show her much kindness either. It took her ti to turn the tables. Outwardly, she seed to have the final say in the household, but behind the scenes, it was still him making the decisions. She had many worries and often nagged him. He ignored her over trivial matters, giving advice only when it ca to major issues, and she always followed his counsel in handling things.
"Ah," Grandma sighed lightly, "Now only Su Bao is left. He used to be the most worriless one in the family, independent and capable. Now who knows where he got that strange temperant from."
Su Nian instinctively glanced at Shen Hanciuxiu. Shen Hanciuxiu coldly looked at her and picked a piece of food for her, saying disdainfully, "What are you looking at for?"
She averted her gaze and said, "Who knows, he was very obedient as a child, and now he’s so stubborn."
Shen Hanciuxiu imdiately retorted, "That stubbornness, he got from you."
An’an added, "He’s always been like this. As a child, he didn’t like to talk and always found annoying. He prefers being alone, and who knows what he’s thinking. He even lost Dudu, and no one knows what’s on his mind."
"I think it’s ti to set him up for a match; as an old lady, I don’t know how much longer I’ll be around. It’d set my mind at ease to see you all settled down."
"Mom, you’re saying that again."
"Ah, growing old has made indifferent to these things. It’s inevitable. Later, go with to visit his office. I ntioned the matchmaking to him last ti, and he hasn’t been ho since. Who knows if he’s really busy or avoiding us."
Su Nian nodded and said, "Alright, let’s go check on him later. If we have ti in the afternoon, we can set up a eting with a girl for him. I think he might just be shy around girls. Maybe he just needs a little help from us."
