Lying on the bed, sleepiness didn’t co, but the nausea in her stomach surged. She patted her chest, trying to drive away the feeling. Eventually, she ran to the bathroom, squatting beside the toilet and vomited everything she had eaten for lunch until her stomach was empty and she finally felt better.

When she was rinsing her mouth by the sink, sothing suddenly flashed through her mind. She smiled at the mirror, touching her lower abdon with so incredulity. Was she... pregnant?

As soon as she thought of this, she couldn’t wait to confirm it, but it seed unreasonable to leave after just half a day. There were no pharmacy stores nearby, so she couldn’t even buy a pregnancy test. Better to wait until after the holiday and then go to the hospital for a check-up.

By the ti he cos back, maybe he will already be a father. She would be so happy, wouldn’t she?

She had always yearned for a child. Did he hear her inner voice now?

Thinking about this possibility, her previous discomfort was replaced with comfort. If she was really carrying a baby, she could endure any hardship.

She lay back on the bed, not daring to move too much. Her little hand touched her abdon. The news was not confird yet, but she couldn’t help but grin foolishly.

Excitent kept her from sleeping, so she went to the desk, where so of his books were still placed.

When she was alone, flipping through his used items, looking at his handwriting, she felt comforted, as if he were right there with her.

She couldn’t resist her curiosity and started flipping through the books, recalling the notebook where he used to write interspersed with love notes. Maybe there were so in these books as well?

Although she didn’t find any love notes, she stumbled upon a familiar set of numbers: 273190.

These were the numbers he used most frequently. Almost all his passwords were based on this, but she had never figured out what they ant. Even when she asked him, he wouldn’t answer.

The numbers were written separately, with characters corresponding to each number above them: "Love, Qi, m, i, a, o".

Her pupils dilated suddenly as she realized the aning of the numbers. She couldn’t help but smile. Who would understand such a strange and cryptic way of confessing?

If it weren’t for those corresponding characters, she guessed she would never understand the aning of these numbers in her lifeti.

Her fingers gently touched the line of text above, feeling a warm sensation in her heart.

This awkward man had clearly liked her all along but was waiting for her to confess! What a coward!

If she had hidden her feelings as well, how long would it have taken for them to get together?

The thought of him acting so pretentious while waiting for her confession still irritated her.

Hugging that book happily, she lay back on the bed. She wanted to tell him about the baby, but she was afraid of getting his hopes up if she wasn’t actually pregnant.

She made the call anyway, but only asked a few simple questions.

"Are you getting used to it there? No one’s bullying you, right?" he asked, with faint sounds of soone explaining things in the background, probably discussing business.

"Yes, your mom’s cooking is really good. Are you still busy? Should we hang up then? Rember to take care of yourself," Gu Qimiao replied.

But Shen Yanchen had no intention of ending the call. "Does my mom’s cooking taste better, or does mine?"

She chuckled, "Yours!"

"In front of my mom, you’d say hers is better, right? You little traitor."

Gu Qimiao giggled, "What else can I say? If I say yours is better, it’s wrong. If I say your mom’s is better, it’s also wrong..."

"Alright, if you feel uncomfortable, just ask the driver to take you back. Don’t ride the car alone. I won’t feel at ease."

"Okay, I got it. You go back to work."

Neither of them hung up, seemingly waiting for the other to say sothing more. They both stayed silent though, until she heard soone call him, "Mr. Shen...". He finally ended the call, and she didn’t hear the rest of the conversation.

She slept until after 5 PM, and luckily, her grandmother wasn’t downstairs when she went down, and Shen Dad and Shen Mom had not co back yet either.

The servants were already busy preparing dinner. The Shen house was so big that she never had a good look around. After lunch, she had followed her grandmother, not daring to wander. Now, thinking of exploring a bit, she went to the backyard and ran into Liang Zixuan.

She wanted to avoid her, but Liang Zixuan approached her, smiling as she asked, "Are you pregnant?"

Gu Qimiao stepped back, maintaining a safe distance, and replied, "What’s it to you?"

"It’s really none of my business..." She smiled, then glanced at her lower abdon and continued, "I was just concerned, since you’re now technically my sister-in-law."

Gu Qimiao looked at her with disdain. She rembered how Liang Zixuan looked at Shen Yanchen with those suggestive eyes, without seeming to rember her existence as his sister-in-law.

"Whatever the case, I still wish you and your baby health and safety," Liang Zixuan said as she left, stepping away in her high heels. Gu Qimiao frowned at her departing figure, feeling a bit threatened by her words. Did she an to harm her baby?

With that thought, she shivered involuntarily. It seed she’d have to be more cautious from now on.

But she couldn’t even confirm if she was pregnant herself. Other than the nausea, there didn’t seem to be any other symptoms.

After Liang Zixuan left, she returned to her room and called Lu Qianwen, "I think she’s pregnant. Did she go to the hospital for a check?"

"No, but it doesn’t matter if she does. Everything has been arranged," ca the reply on the other end.

Liang Zixuan smiled with relief, "That’s good."

Now she just had to wait for the show to unfold.

With a heart full of anxiety and excitent, Gu Qimiao stayed at the Shen house until the third day. She left on the pretext of having work.

Everyone in the family understood work commitnts, and Shen Mom insisted on having the driver take her, but Gu Qimiao politely declined. She walked to the corner and hailed a taxi, heading straight to the hospital.

Having accompanied Jiajia a few tis before, she was familiar with the process. But this ti it was her turn, and her mood was a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

Sitting on a chair by the door waiting for the results, she watched couples coming out, looking joyous from the pregnancy news. The wife didn’t even show a bump yet, but the husband was already protecting her, afraid soone might accidentally bump into her.

Seeing their happiness, Gu Qimiao couldn’t help but smile. Would Shen Yanchen be just as happy when he found out? Perhaps he’d treat her like a precious treasure too?

"Ding-ding..." Her phone rang from inside her bag. She saw the na lighting up and quickly answered, "Hubby!"

Shen Yanchen raised an eyebrow on the other end. Hearing her call him "hubby" was rare, "You’re being unusually good today?"

"I’ve always been good..."

He chuckled, "I’ll be back soon."

"Soon? I thought you said you’d be gone for a week?"

"I missed you. I couldn’t sleep alone here..."

Even through the phone, Gu Qimiao blushed, mumbling, "If you couldn’t sleep alone, did you find soone to keep you company?"

"If I did, I wouldn’t be back for ten days or half a month. Be at the airport at 3 PM. We’ll make up for the lost ti tonight."

Gu Qimiao bit her lip, wanting to say sothing but not having the results yet. She didn’t want to disappoint him, so she said, "We’ll talk when you get back then."
