On Sunday morning, the sky was overcast, and it was almost ten o’clock without any sunlight.

On the large bed, the woman leaned against the man, nestled in his arms, sleeping soundly.

The man’s bare, lean arm was outside the quilt, tightly holding the woman.

The warm and serene scene was interrupted by the ringing of a phone.

Shen Yanchen imdiately opened his eyes, looking at her in his arms. She frowned, clearly unhappy at having her sleep disrupted.

He extended his long arm to the nightstand, picked up the phone, and quickly stopped the alarm to avoid disturbing her sleep.

He intentionally lowered his voice when speaking: "What’s up?"

"Yanchen, didn’t you say you’d co back this weekend? When will you arrive? What do you want to eat? Grandma will have soone prepare it."

Shen Yanchen was silent for a mont and had forgotten about it. Looking at Gu Qimiao in his arms, he said, "Sothing ca up, so there will be a slight delay. We will be there before lunch. Just make so simple dishes."

Grandma paused and asked, "What does the girl like to eat?"

Shen Yanchen chuckled lightly, "She’s not picky. Just make sure you don’t give her any attitude, and she’ll find everything delicious."

Grandma scolded him playfully for a couple of sentences before hanging up the phone.

Shen Yanchen didn’t wake her up imdiately but continued to hold her and sleep.

She turned around, resting her head on his shoulder, hugging him with her eyes closed and murmuring, "Who was that?"

Shen Yanchen adjusted the quilt and said, "It’s nothing, go back to sleep."

Last night, he was quite satisfied, played until after four o’clock, which exhausted her, and she even cursed in anger. Thinking back to her appearance last night made him laugh.

She cursed and begged, but she wasn’t good at cursing. The harshest words she said were "[clothes][hat][animal]."

Looking at the varying deep and shallow marks on her shoulder, he gently touched them with his fingertips, realizing how hard he went last night, leaving bruises everywhere.

She never cried out in pain, but he seed to be too reckless.

Only caring about his own release, he wore her out like this.

"Miaomiao."

She slightly frowned and rubbed her head against his chest, murmuring in response, "Hmm..."

"Next ti I’ll be gentler," he said to himself, not knowing if she heard it or not.

He held her quietly for a while without waking her, then got out of bed himself.

When Gu Qimiao opened her eyes, the room was still dim due to the curtains being drawn. She rubbed her eyes and turned her head to glance at the spot beside her.

He was already gone. Her mory was a bit fuzzy; it seed like she heard him answering a phone call. She wasn’t sure if it was a dream or it actually happened.

Isn’t today the weekend? Where did he go?

Pushing herself up from the bed while holding the quilt, she picked up her phone to check the ti and was startled to see it was already eleven o’clock!

She hurriedly picked up the robe from the bedside and put it on, drew the curtains open, and the light drizzle outside brought an unexpected coolness to the sumr day.

She opened the bedroom door and walked out. The whole house was quiet, and he was clearly not around. At this hour, shouldn’t he be preparing lunch for her? Where did he run off to?

She went back to the bedroom to fetch her phone, and without much thought, dialed his number.

Previously, calling him required her to hesitate for a long while, preparing the reasons and lines beforehand. But now it was different; she was truly his wife.

The phone rang with a "beep beep" sound, and as it went unanswered, her brow furrowed.

At that mont, amidst the monotonous "beep" sound, there was a noise, not from the phone.

Turning toward the source of the sound, she saw the door being opened from the outside, and Shen Yanchen walked in carrying several items, his phone still vibrating in his pocket.

"Why didn’t you answer my call?"

Shen Yanchen, changing his shoes, looked at her slightly annoyed expression and laughed, "Why? Missed after not finding for a while?"

Gu Qimiao glared at him, walked over, and took the items from his hands.

"I didn’t buy anything for you to eat. Why so eager?"

Gu Qimiao opened the bag and looked inside, secretly hoping he had bought sothing delicious since it was already eleven, and she was quite hungry.

"Why did you buy so much fruit?"

Shen Yanchen took the bag back from her hand and pushed her towards the bedroom, "Go change your clothes quickly. We’re having lunch with Grandma."

"Lunch? Today?"

Shen Yanchen raised an eyebrow and nodded, "Hurry up, will you?" And then he watched her panic with a smile.

Gu Qimiao quickly put on a simple makeup and took twenty minutes to prepare herself.

Grandma already had many prejudices against her. If she were late for lunch with Grandma, her impression would definitely worsen.

Shen Yanchen heated up a cup of milk for her. She hurriedly drank it down and dragged him out the door.

Sitting in the car, chewing on bread, she asked anxiously, "How long before we get there? Will it be too late?"

Shen Yanchen’s gaze was ahead, smiling calmly, "What’s the rush? I’m with you, aren’t I? If there’s scolding, it includes too."

"You’re her biological grandson; she wouldn’t scold you!"

"You’re the beloved wife of her biological grandson; she wouldn’t dare scold you either."

Gu Qimiao pouted. Shen Yanchen glanced at the direction and said, "Grandma just called and asked what you like to eat."

"Really?" Her expression imdiately beca joyful, and then she said, "Shouldn’t I buy sothing for Grandma and your parents?"

Shen Yanchen pointed to the back seat with his chin, "Later, just say that box of health supplents is from you."

Gu Qimiao turned to look and gave him an appreciative smile. With such a husband, she didn’t have to worry about anything.

"Also, it’s not ’your parents,’ it’s our parents. Rember to be sweet-tongued."

Gu Qimiao smiled, nodded, and started practicing those two addresses in her mind.

The unfamiliar yet warm titles. She had never said them before, but now, this man had given her the family she dread of.

The car drove straight to the Shen family’s old house. It was evident that Grandma had been waiting for a long ti. As soon as the car approached the villa, they saw Grandma looking expectantly at the door.

As the car stopped, the old lady trotted over, warmly greeting Shen Yanchen. Shen Yanchen walked to Gu Qimiao’s side and helped her out.

Grandma’s expression remained sowhat unfriendly towards Gu Qimiao. Feeling anxious, Gu Qimiao obediently greeted, "Grandma."

Grandma didn’t respond. Shen Yanchen took the gift box from the back seat and handed it to Grandma, saying, "Miaomiao bought this for you."

Grandma glanced at it, took it with a hint of disdain, "Why bother buying this for an old woman like ?"

Gu Qimiao quickly flattered, "Grandma, you’re not old at all!"

Grandma replied indifferently, "Alright, co in quickly; the food is ready."

Inside the house, Shen’s mother greeted them warmly and took Gu Qimiao by the hand, "Co in and sit."

Shen Yanchen patted Gu Qimiao’s shoulder and gave her a look. Gu Qimiao looked at Shen’s mom, pressed her lips, took a breath, and smiled, "Mom."

Shen’s mother, touching her head, led her inside, "We’re all family now; no need to be so formal."
