After leaving Gao Jun's office, Zhao Heng felt that the coming days were unlikely to be peaceful. After all, even people like Li Haiyang and Qu Xiaofeng, who were focused solely on work, had sensed that there would be significant changes at the hospital. This ant there were already turbulent undercurrents.

However, no matter how things changed, it wouldn't affect Zhao Heng. He had never resorted to receiving under-the-table benefits and made his living purely through his skills.

Regarding the uncle and nephew duo of Dean Yin Lifeng and Yin Jian, if the rumors in the hospital were true, it seed these two would have to face so serious consequences in the future.

Back at his office, Zhao Heng checked the ti. It was already 11:20 AM, and he felt like he had done a lot that morning.

Just as Zhao Heng was thinking about finding his girlfriend to have lunch together, Xu Man Ni arrived first.

As soon as she entered the office, Xu Man Ni asked with concern, "Just got back from Old Gao's?"

"Yeah."

Zhao Heng nodded. Xu Man Ni had been at the hospital for quite so ti, and her uncle was the operating room director Xu Wenqiang. So, she knew a lot more insider information than Zhao Heng.

"Old Gao must have told you everything."

Xu Man Ni asked again.

Currently, in the hospital, Gao Jun, operating room director Xu Wenqiang, oncology director Liu Shangming, and neurosurgery deputy director Liu Ziang were essentially on one side. The dean led a group that couldn't compete with big shots like Liu Shangming and Liu Ziang in professional matters, forming two distinct major factions.

So, where there are people, there's a community. The hospital is like a small society, a small community, and the complexities here are no simpler than those in society at large.

"Yeah, he did."

Zhao Heng nodded.

"So, what do you think about this matter?"

Xu Man Ni imdiately asked because Zhao Heng hadn't been involved in these matters before, and she was a bit worried about him.

"I don't think my opinion matters much."

Zhao Heng looked at Xu Man Ni and said.

"Who says it doesn't matter? Right now, whether it's Old Gao or the directors, they actually value you a lot. Otherwise, how could you be given the task of dical device review?"

Xu Man Ni looked at Zhao Heng, realizing he didn't perceive his own importance, and couldn't help but say.

In Gao Jun's faction, Zhao Heng was subtly becoming the link connecting several departnts, including Li Haiyang from oncology and Director Liu Shangming, as well as Liu Ziang from neurosurgery.

In other words, while Gao Jun and Liu Shangming seed to lead, the real link and core was Zhao Heng.

"With the big shots leading the way, I'll just follow orders and do my job."

Zhao Heng hadn't thought much about this matter. At his current level, his role in this factional struggle wasn't significant. At least, it wouldn't be until he beca a deputy director and was able to get involved.

The reason Gao Jun entrusted him with the review work was purely out of trust.

"That's fine too."

Hearing Zhao Heng's explanation, Xu Man Ni thought about it and found that his attitude was actually quite appropriate. Considering he had little experience with these kinds of matters, following the lead of experienced people was a wise move, as it offered protection.

"What do you want to eat later?"

Zhao Heng asked.

"Why don't we go eat at Uncle and Aunt's place? I've been so busy with my promotion that I haven't had the ti to visit for several days now."

Xu Man Ni thought for a mont and said.

Lately, she's been busy with her professional title promotion and hadn't visited Zhao Heng's parents. Now having so free ti, she wanted to accompany Zhao Heng to see her future parents-in-law.

"Alright."

Zhao Heng nodded as well. He had been quite busy these days, but his father had been running the noodle stall well, so he didn't have much to worry about.

There wasn't much pressure anyway. They opened the stall if they wanted to, and they could rest anyti if they didn't feel like it.

However, since starting the stall, Zhao Heng's parents went out every day without fail, co rain or shine, really treating the noodle stall as their career.

In fact, this was good. Having sothing to do was better than feeling restless at ho.

Twenty minutes later.

Zhao Heng and Xu Man Ni arrived at Zhao's father's noodle stall.

Seeing their son and future daughter-in-law, Zhao's parents were very happy.

For the two elders, they originally just wanted to visit their son fighting hard in the big city and had heard about the challenges and hardships of big city life back in their hotown.

But they hadn't expected their son to be doing so well. Moreover, even in their fifties, they found a business with the noodle stall. Most importantly, their future daughter-in-law was already there—beautiful, good-natured, and from a good family. The two elders couldn't be more pleased.

"Dad, what are these?"

Zhao Heng approached the stall and noticed a new oven and so buns on display, asking curiously.

"Son, your dad made these pan-fried oily pastries, to go with beef noodle soup."

Zhao's mother said happily to Zhao Heng.

"Dad, you developed a new product already?"

Zhao Heng was completely taken aback that his father, in his fifties, could have a second career spring.

The pan-fried pastries looked golden and crispy, slled delicious, and paired with a hot bowl of beef vermicelli soup with so chili oil—absolutely perfect!

"Of course, I'll make two bowls for you to try right now."

Zhao's father said proudly.

Opening a small stall in a big city like North City and doing what he loved in terms of food, Zhao's father found this to be one of the proudest monts of his life, second only to his son's acceptance into a prestigious university.

"Yeah."

Seeing his father's proud and happy face, Zhao Heng nodded. Knowing his father had a venture that gave him joy put his mind at ease.

Truthfully speaking, for the generation of Zhao's father, who had worked hard their whole lives, having nothing to do suddenly could be unsettling.

While Zhao Heng talked with his father, Zhao's mother pulled Xu Man Ni aside to talk about plans for the future daughter-in-law.

"Dear, Auntie wants to ask you sothing."

Zhao's mother looked at Xu Man Ni, her satisfaction growing, and spoke to her.

"Yes, Auntie, go ahead."

Xu Man Ni smiled and said.

"It's about what plans you and Xiao Heng have for the future."

Zhao's mother said.

"Auntie, what plans do you an?"

Xu Man Ni replied, having a bit of a guess about Zhao's mother's question.

At their age, elders were certainly eager to have grandchildren, so the topic of marriage was a natural one.

"I an marriage. Although you young people are busy with your careers and not in a hurry to marry, setting an engagent first is also good."

Zhao's mother said. She knew better than to pressure them into marriage, but she thought it would be good to secure such an excellent future daughter-in-law with an engagent.
