"It’s easy for her to say, now that she’s financially independent. Of course, she can do whatever she wants. Yan Yueqing seems to be speaking out for full-ti moms, but is she actually stirring up family conflicts?"
"Here cos the naysayer again. What’s wrong with her encouraging everyone to be themselves? Must we stick to our small piece of dostic land? Are children only the mother’s responsibility? Why is it always the mother who has to sacrifice?"
"I’ve been a full-ti mom for three years, from the birth of my child till now, and every ti I’ve suggested going back to work, my husband would say there’s no one to take care of the kid! In reality, it’s not that there’s no one to take care of them, it’s just that I’m always fooled by his excuses! It wasn’t until today, after hearing Yan Yueqing’s speech, that I realized how disconnected from society I’ve beco over these three years! No matter what my husband thinks, I’m going to go back to work!"
Yan Yueqing had no idea that her words would not only spark passionate discussions online but also cause the people present to fall into deep thought.
Tang Tang listened carefully. Although she didn’t quite understand, she believed that what her godmother said must be right!
Tiantian seed to realize sothing and patted Du Mansheng’s hand, "Auntie, are you worried that Sister Xiaoxiao will beco distant from you because of your work? It won’t happen! She’s always telling how much she admires you for going around doing charity work. She says when she grows up, she wants to carry on with your ideas and spread love throughout the country!"
It was the first ti Du Mansheng had heard such a thing, she was pleasantly surprised, "Really? Xiaoxiao really said that?"
Tiantian nodded, "Yeah, she’s said it more than once!"
Just as Du Mansheng’s smile began to form, it suddenly froze on her face.
She had always thought that her daughter was becoming estranged from her because of this issue. If that wasn’t the case, then what was it?
Yan Yueqing noticed and kindly reminded her, "Lady Song, when did you start feeling that your daughter wasn’t close to you?"
Du Mansheng’s face showed her concern, "Just these past one or two years... I always thought it was because I was too busy... and not looking after her properly."
"That’s not it!" Tiantian put down the fruit she was holding and shook her head, "Sister Xiaoxiao really admires you! She wouldn’t get upset because of you! I know Sister Xiaoxiao is troubled. Every ti she returns from grandma’s place, she gets really quiet for a long ti! Once, I even saw her crying secretly!"
"What?!" Du Mansheng felt terribly upset, "When did this happen? How co I didn’t know anything about it?!"
After considering the tifra, Tiantian responded, "About... two years ago? Auntie, you had gone on a business trip, and I went to play with Sister Xiaoxiao during my sumr break. She had just co back from grandma’s house and was crying so sadly in her room! She said she missed you, but I feel... it wasn’t quite that..."
Holding her small face, Tang Tang pondered, "Could it be that Xiaoxiao’s grandmother has been speaking ill of Aunt Du in front of her? I’ve seen in TV dramas where the evil mother-in-law badmouths the mother in front of the children, it’s so annoying and hateful!"
After thinking for a mont, Tiantian said, "I don’t know, Sister Xiaoxiao won’t tell anything and she doesn’t allow to tell anyone else..."
"Yet you’ve told us?" Tang Tang said in surprise.
"Auntie isn’t soone else," Tiantian replied matter-of-factly.
Tang Tang, "Oh, right!"
Jun Yan: The understanding of these two...
Taking a deep breath, Du Mansheng said, "Thank you, Tiantian. If you hadn’t told Auntie about this, I might have remained in the dark forever! I’ll take a flight back ho tomorrow and ask Xiaoxiao what actually happened."
"Don’t worry, it will get better," Yan Yueqing said as she extended her hand gently removing a couple of stray hairs from her shoulder.
